I watched a video of these guys, live in concert back in the eighties, they were tremendous. That funky sound just gets you grooving the minute it starts. I thought Austin Howard was one handsome guy with a great voice and the rest of the band were great musicians. Loved the Chapman stick sound from Nick Beggs.
heard this more than 20 years ago and always sang along to it but today saw it again,, cool xxuckin cool.. these two guys met on the train in new york and decided to jam together the next day and this what came out.. pity it was the only thing
we play this song in our band and it comes still great to young audience. The groove looks simple to play , but it took us quite a while to get that "hypnotic" feeling!!
One of my favorite song. Nick Beggs joined John Paul Jones for a mn in a project called Zooma, I saw them live and it was surreal!! Beggs on the chapman stick! Deadly!
It's amazing how much good music was lurking beneath the surface back in the 80's. I always loved Kaja's post-Limahl output. And I had heard of this act before. Twenty years later, I am grooving in my seat. This is a killer tune.
You name it. Unfortunately, for all the hype around Kajagoogoo and other teenie bands, for all their flamboyant style and fashion, the true musical quality was not recognized in many cases.
Today, I can only wonder how cool, gifted, and groovy e.g. the bass playing of Nick Beggs already at Kajagoogoo times was - and no-one seemed to recognize how brilliant he actually was those days. His hairdo just stole the show. :-)
And that's somewhat symptomatic for the 80ies in general.
A really funky track,great upload.
