  • Orange and Brown were the official colors of the 70's. Love the Tempts!!

  • if you like this listen to Barry White's version

  • Sweet!

  • I love Louis' voice. In truth, I loved Paul's dancing, but his vocals did'nt move me. I loved David's vocals too, but it something about this man's vocals that moves my spirit. His voice is powerful, yet understated, simply beautiful. I like the way he looks too.

  • I live in Cali now and I was a lot younger at that time. David Ruffin dated this lady down the street and he was around for some of our group outings like horseback riding, skating etc...I will have to ask when I go home again if the pics are around...

  • gnsk77, why do you have to compare group members everyone who were in this great group made a constribution to their legacy. Street is from Detroit, Melvin's cousin he was in the group before paul and eddie when they were called the Distants, Pauls is a buttery smooth tenor, Paul a powerful barritone, their voices are suited for difference tunes, and Street sure as hell can dance,

  • Agreed. Richard is awesome. The classic 5, while amazing, and the pioneers of the temptations, are certainly not the end all be all of temptations. Richard kept the legacy going for 22 years, and the Temptations continue to today.

  • @eldivie4 I don't have to...lol

  • Real vocalists! Lovely.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting this. My first time in the studio was to do this version of Just the way You are. We didn't give it half the justice. But it truly helped us get our ears together to hear harmony. Thank you again. I thought this was lost forever for me.. God Bless..

  • People can say what they wanna say about Richard and how is voice may not be as dynamic as Paul's or David's but I gotta tell you...he is a tremendously smooth and confident performer. In all the years he was with the Temps (71-93), you could tell he was a true professional.

  • What happened to the video??? I would love a copy of this. Is there a way to find it?

  • 1 thing i know if i were replacing a group member....i'd put my own ''mark'' on a song....to copy is flattery to a degree...but why stay in another man's shadow

  • did they put this song on an LP OR CD i am going to buy it is it is.HELP ME ANYONE

  • uh there is no one I mean NO ONE that could charm the women the way Eddie could...and NO ONE had as much emotional and pwersonal input when they sang...Paul wore his heart on his sleeve and he sang that way R Street does not do that but I love these Temps too-sorry I am from Detroit and grew up there in the sixties and seventies- the temps hung out in my neighborhood so I am a bit biased!!but most Detroiters are biased toward the original motown group members-cos of the memories

  • @gnsky77

you said that you grew up in the neighbor hood that the temptations hung out. I was wondering if you had any rare picture moments of them out side the studio or going to they're cars or anything. I would love to see some. I was and am still in love with them. It would mean a lot to me.

  • What great harmony!!!!

  • by this time dennis was gone

  • Paul and edie wouldn!t made this song better, the song and group is just fine, I liked Paul, eddie and David, but the fact of the matter the group didn!t fall on its face after they left and still had it records, that is why some of you so-called tempt fans hate on anyone who isn!t David,Eddie and Paul, Dennis/richard/damon/louis/glenn/ron/ the incomparable ollie woodson carried on what the classic group started, check the hits after 1968!

  • I agree with you in re Ali Woodson... but you can't possibly argue that Paul wouldn't have taken a better solo on this than Richard. I'm a major Richard Street fan but there's no question that Paul Williams would have blown him away on this one....

  • @nwilczyn

All the Tempts were great in their own distinctive way. Different voices, different styles, that's what made them great.

  • NO WAY! This made me smile so much to hear it. BTW LP doesn't look like jamie foxx, clearly jamie foxx studied the way a lot of singers behave and started to model that look... at least that's my two cents.

  • the tempts always except on 2 occasions, were a 5 man group, with define roles, on live performances, the secondary lead/occasional lead was paul williams, and when he left it was Streets role for 21 yrs, which next went to theo, and next to terry weeks since 1997, and this why richard sings david!s songs at live shows! in the studio, the secondary gets songs to same too!

  • ron909 this song is good, just the way it is!the fact of the matter is the tempts were just as good after eddie and king david left!, thats why you all are haters! you aren!true tempt fans, the tempts are a legacy everyone who was and still is has contributed to this legacy!

  • AMEN!

  • IMO, nobody can't top the original composition of this song. Billy Joel nailed it with this song. But i have to admit, this version is nice. i appreciate this version

  • Im going to have to dissagree. He didnt even like the song. My personal favorite is Maggie Gyllenhaal.

  • Thanks for posting- Back then the BETA tapes had not been invented yet-so I was rushing home to audio tape this PBS performance. I had to hold back my hand claps, and oooo wees, so they would not be included in the taping. I suprised I dont remember the wardrobe-how could I forget? LOL

  • those harmonies are Tight!

  • Dam, Louis Price looks like Jamie Foxx, go head Chicago fella.

Glen Leonard sounds remarkably like Eddie Kendricks in the opening chorus.

The tempataions are just classic singers...all hail !

  • i could see the whispers doin this one to.

  • i highly agree ron909!!!!!!!!!

  • This song needs Eddie & Paul. It would would have sounded so much better sice this is their kind of song. Not to hate on Richard but Paul could run circles around him.

  • AGREED!!! Paul would have KILLED on this one... plus Richard falls a little out of his range... to make it work for the show they should have split that lead between Louis (first) and Richard (second)

  • Whatiship73I love your postings, the tempts are the best, and Richard Street has always heen a talented performance, good to see him on stage. Again, Thanks for this fantastic posting.

  • This Temptations line-up is by far not my favorite especially Richard Street (YUK) & Glenn Leonard, but when they all sing together I have to say it sounds amazing !!! Go Temps !!!!
