I couldn't agree more, google has lost it's touch on youtube and even on their popular search engine, why is it that theses companys don't really listen to their customers or visitors anymore.

Hate it. Please give us a way to switch it off permanently. It's too easy to trigger by accident. I don't need "previews" of web pages, the plain search result gives enough preview for me. If people like this new feature, then let them have it, but for the rest of us please give us a way to turn it off. It's not just a matter of "not clicking the magnifying glass" because it's too easily triggered by accident when clicking the page.

I read that only 5% who use Instant preview are more likely to be satisfied with the results they click.

So that means for 95% it didn't make a difference, humm!

Personally I think it's EXTREMELY annoying! There is no way to turn it off & if I accidentally click somewhere, it pops up. I normally click on the page & then use my side scroll feature on my laptop to scroll down but now when I click on the page anywhere near the results I get these popups - annoying!

That "instant is off" feature is for Google Instant Search, the feature that does predictive search as you type your results. I turned that off the first day it came out.

As far as Google PREVIEW, There IS no way to turn it off officially. You have to use something like NoScript to disable it.

The Previews turn on when you click anywhere in the search results area. Wtf? ANNOYING. Disrupts my train of thought CONSTANTLY. I'm ok with Google Instant, but NOT ok with Previews. Yet I have to turn both off? And THEY DON'T STAY OFF! Wtf? This is just a gimmick. Google became king for being focused on simplicity and working when other companies focus on gimmicks like this & fail. These stupid gimmicks and the increase in bugs in their software will lead to google's demise as king of the web.

Instant Preview is enabled and disabled by clicking once on any of the magnifying glass icons. It's basically like an ON/OFF toggle button.

it doesn't really load the page in the preview .. i believe it takes a screen-shot from the site and upload it to you , so all ur getting is extra 90 KB per preview

That's great, but Google also needs to find a way to clean up Google Images. Many websites use Google Images as bait to attack your computer- as soon as you click on an image to see it, you get pop-up windows that won't go away as well as firewall attacks. Google needs to create a way for us to view an image or website in a safe manner- without having to load a bunch of flash and php programs that can attack your computer.
