It's amazing how cheerful all the sewerage workers I have met are. They have a funny little saying "It may be sh*t to you, but it's our bread and butter!" Nice image there!
The Nintendo Wii is harder to get your hands on in some places than others.
For example:
I have a friend in london that had to wait for 2 months after its release to get his hands on one, i live in sheffield and some of my close friends here had to wait close to 6 months.
There is however an upside to this, i payed £179.99 for my Wii and if i wanted to i could trade it in for cash and get £300 back :)
what are you going to do as a theme for videos next year as you wont be making do anymore? I just got thrown out of a yahoo group for using "smeg" in part of my yahoo ID LOL
Hi Robert. My twin boys (Cameron Corey) are huge fans of Red Dwarf, Kryten's their favourite character :) It's their 11th birthday on the 18th of this month and it would mean soooo much to them if you would wish them HAPPY BIRTHDAY :) .... I can't deny it would also make me super mom of the year ;-) .... If you can, thank you! If not, that's ok too :)
Hey Robert. Thanks for keeping up with these Making Do Videos.
You're a fairly interesting guy you know. Umm. So yeah, keep up the good work, stay healthy and safe, and i wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
always enjoy your video diary, my boyfriends mother was trying to get the grandson a wii for christmas she couldnt get one anywhere back in novemeber so she had to pay £400 at a market to get one and it's chipped with 15 games brand new apparently..personally i wouldnt pay anything like that from a market i'd rather get one from a proper retailer where you get a guarentee with it!
Did you spend so much time taking showers and baths that you forgot to get any sleep? Serious Robert, you look really tired. Regardless, Channel 5 have things that are worth watching on every now and then, and this appears to be one of them. I look forward to it.
Pierre is a great ambassador for your channel; to think I would have missed your masterly description of the sewer if Pierre had not responded to you! Did you see any rats? Every movie I've ever seen featuring London's sewers (like Hue & Cry the first Ealing comedy) always has rats!
bet you weren't too popular around your house until you'd had a dozen showers or so.
congrats on getting the wii by the way. those things ARE hard to find. I'll bet you paid a pretty penny for it too. best price is 175 quid, I'll wager you paid more than that.
I'm abit surpired it's so watered down...but after you explained it it does make sense.
I found something out recently about the sewers in Paris on QI...It seems their sewers match the roads above ground and have the street names on that they follow. Also, they use to do boat rides down there many years back.
Well, enjoy the Wii and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I can see how that could certainly put things into perspective... :¬D it is also great that your family are helping you and joining in with the making do... :¬D Cant wait to see the "how do they do it!" series... :¬D Christmas wishes to you and your family :¬D
It's quite a refreshing change to see someone make a video about shite, rather than make a shite video... Just my first thought, probably not very well considered. ;-)
i wonder is the series how do they do it? the sister version to, how do they do that? on cable? sounds interesting ill keep an eye out for it in january. i hope you're being well paid for it, cause it would take 'shitloads' of money to get me to visit a sewer. and they say working in television is glamorous. he he he he he
I walked into the living room the other dy when my mum ws watching a cooking show and the voice over came on and i said "hey, is that Robert Llewellyn
Good to hear you had no trouble getting a Wii where you were. On the other hand, here in Maidstone Kent, it's a nightmare - NO-ONE has them at all (I work in retail so I can guarantee you that it's not a consumerism "trick" to say you can't get a product). There will be a lot of dissapointed kiddies (and adults too) this xmas 'round here!
What robert describes in that sewer is what happens to your arteries after going to fast food places. This sounds similar to Dirty Jobs on the US discovery channel.
OMG! Shudder. The sewers! Knee deep! Ugh! Nightmare material! Imagine if there was a backup and it exploded right on that busy shopping street!!! You should get your kids the Twister game! Loads of fun and silliness. Do you have Twister in England?
There is a guy on ebay right now trying to sell a WII for £1,000,000! There's people auctioning the thing at insane prices hoping that some mug with loads of cash buys into it just to get famous,LOL.
The shops are selling the thing but the problem is you dont see the £179.99 retail kit with sports, retailers are cashing in on the "shortage" and bundling them up with games for £250-350 as the only options.
Plenty of Wii's in Australia so no shortage here. Keep us updated to let us know you got it. We also have a Worst Jobs TV program here. Sounds like you may also need bath gifts for Xmas with that job.
I'll assume the fact they're getting a Wii is no big surprise, or that they never watch Daddy's YouTube videos. ;) There's a series on over on our side of the pond that you might find interesting, sounds a bit along the lines of the one you did today, called "Dirty Jobs." It's essentially about a felow who goes off and tries the most bizarre (and often filth-ridden) jobs out there. One episode I saw was about a farmer turning poop into flower baskets. Amazing stuff.
Thinking about that shopping trip for your job... was there any reason for you to buy anything new if you were going to be lowered down in the sewers. Sad about the waste and problem with cooking fat, it could be used as fuel alterative.. you look well but it must have been a hard day!! Best wishes for the next episode!!
get some sleep, man =]
