  • Yesterday (14th January, 2012) I saw a programme (parallely in two news channels) on Kaifi Azmi. In one of those channels there was an audio bit which featured Meena Kumari ji. She told her poetic relationship with Kaifi sahab. Shabana ji told that she was the 'courier' boy between Meena ji and Kaifi sahab. Meena ji used to send her verses for getting corrected to Kaifi sahab.

  • Hello Yuan and thank you. A very lovely composition. Ghulam Mohammad, an excellent MD is known only by this film. GM died in 1967 five years prior to releasing of Pakeezah. Naushad supported his family for a very long time. GM lived a miserable life in poverty mostly. Was showered by awards after his demise. Another sad story of what film industry does to some of it's talented people. Regards.

  • @RealMusicKing - Thank you my dear friend for the informative comment.

  • My great uncle, Kaifi Azmi marhoom, helped write the lyrics to this classic number as well as many other classic bollywood numbers.

  • @asadmeranaam - I am honoured to "meet" a relative of one of the greatest Urdu poets of 20th century, Late Dr. Kaifi Azmi, a Padma Shri recipient from the Government Of India.

I have already written Dr. Kaifi Azmi's name as one of the lyricists [in this movie] in the description section above.

It is heartening to read his amazing biographic details in the Wikipedia, I must say.

May his soul Rest In Peace.

May God bless you, my dear friend.
