I'll stick to windows...ubuntu has too many comatability issues...one example is Photoshop, ubuntu does offer gimp but its just not the same. Face it...most stuff is designed to run with windows, i have a dv9500 and it was a major pain trying to find compatable drivers etc. to get my computer function with ubuntu. With windows everything works great.
Thanks to everyone who posted/messaged me fixes for this. The eventual solution I found was to install 7.10 instead of 7.04 (which is what I'm trying to install in the video). Works like a charm now.
I had the same problem. What i did was that i tried the alternate CD ( the non graphic one ) and it did install it, but then had problems with the graphic card. That was with ubuntu 7.04. I waited for ubuntu 7.10 and had no problem installing it, just had problems with the sound card but fixed that too. I'll upload a video of my ubuntu just for show :P
this is not a program this is ubuntu, an alternative to windows as an operating system. it's open source and free. and kicks windows' ass in almost every way.
strange that 7.04 didn't install. usually hp works quite closely with the kernel developers making sure that their products support linux. at least hp got their act together so that later ubuntu distributions (7.10, 8.04) install fine.

Ubuntu runs sweet on my Dv9500 withought a problem. Used a dvd and live cd on my mates machine without any problem.
