the idea of rail is older than the freeway and most paved roads during the 19th and 20th century. Yet TO THIS DAY, it still manages to give the trucking industry a run for it's money when it comes to efficiency, Because lets just face the facts, A railcar can carry a bit over 200 THOUSAND POUNDS. while a truck trailer can cary something like 75 thousand max on a standard trailer. Not only that but rail is much safer to, with far fewer casualties (most where the peoples fault anyway)
Great video. Nice to see the "engineer's perspective." Good video of a busy section of track. And thanks for identifying your camera/camcorder. Not many do it.
I frequently railfan along this path, mostly at Bayview Junction. You definately caught a BNSF at 7:30. It was an executive which is rare in the US let alone Canada! Great catches. I remeber seeing UP,BNSF,NS,CSX and other foreigns a couple of years ago.
You might need to put a time on that because I'm certainly not aware of any BNSF colours in that video. Maybe just the lower quality I used to load to Youtube makes a CN look like a BNSF.
If only; I'm still not sure if it is the lens making contact with the glass or some sort of static that happens when it gets too close.Would love to have a program that could edit sound to that extent.
At 6:40, does it look like the track car (high rail truck) did not knock down the interlocking signal? Sometimes the vehicles dont short the track circuit. The signal looks like yellow over red but the block the signal protects is occupied by the track car.
that of what i said rephrased with more proper grammar, point is rail was then and still is highly competitive with transportation.

I seem to suffer from a lot of dumb luck. My first trip to Japan I got stuff that people chase for weeks with no result.

7:30-7:45. The second engine really does look like a BNSF. I can tell by the logo, and the colour.

You are right, I hadn't noticed it #9445 going by a photograph I have.

Great video. That was a lucky of getting a BNSF, especially the vomit coloured BNSF`s.
