@4lzh31mer The major failure of BM harassers is they become overfocused on their hero as a one man killing machine. You have the advantage for awhile, and a few levels of abilities certainly rock. But never assume that you know everything. On plenty of occasions a risky expansion (sometimes in *your* natural) by your opponent results in a game changer; you become so focused on harassing and taking your time that you've frittered your advantage away.Just having 20 grunts when they come w/ wyvs eg

@WreckedKiddo - I change the hotkeys. Normally 'o t' does nothing; it's o - z x c v (for all heroes). so c would have been feral normally. And top players before that were creeping - the original big boy strategy was creep to 6, and use ult to crush your opponent. Then they patched it so creep XP capped at 5. So creep to 5, win a battle, get ult, crush your opponent (and possibly get ult during one climatic battle). If that's changed in the intervening three years, OK.

@culinaryg If you don't get a replacement scroll and you know what you're doing, you should be teaching the pros. If you do, guess what - that scroll cost 350g and the other guy still has his "free" one. You're either out mobility or gold, and gold doesn't kill people - mobility and units kill people.

instead of rationalizing why you wrote the grunt HP sentence the way you did, you could have just admitted that you mixed up the words. you should have said "two units at 300 hp is better than one unit at 500 hp" it would have made sense if you had just said it correctly.

Do the BM get a lot of items with 3 grunts go to T2 makes raiders , taurens ghosts (dont know the name) and kodos with 2nd hero chieftain or troll who can hex or heal and after play alot and watch a lot of replays your own and some of pros to see what ur doing wrong. Try downloading hotkeys so it is faster and easier for micro and macro.

All you talk about is units; nothing about map control, position, scouting, and *why* to do anything.
This guide, like every single one online, says nothing but what units to "get". There is SO much more to strategy games than who can make units fast. There's nothing in here about what to actually do with those units other than the usual pull-out. :(
New players should start by playing strategically, not mindless massing. I started out by using a raxless tech and still use it quite often in 1v1, just hoping the enemy rushes. (Smart strategy: boom vs turtle, rush vs boomer, turtle vs rush.)
On the contrary, I talk a great deal about what I do - map control, position, creeping - why, and discuss what I do wrong and why it is wrong. While I discuss in broad strokes the then-current massing targets, they're an aside, as opposed to "Queue 2 peons, send 3 to mine, 2 to forest, build bax, ..." That said, at top level competitive play and mid level competitive play, I had (years ago) never seen anyone pull of a baxless tech. Always a few t1 soldiers (foot, grunt, et)+hero to stall.
Even when I was brand new, I managed to beat a few players in the mid-20 lvls just with the combination of harassment and well-placed towers. Unfortunately "towers are associated with new players who ONLY make towers" but a lot of high-level players get there through micro practice, not better strategy and economy.
On a map like EI, the rax is always worth it. Some camps can be cleared with 3 grunts while the hero does other productive things, but its a gold for exp trade.
They are (were?) fragile, reduced rate of fire and there's no air in tier 1. You box the other guy into a tier 1 only fight, and what advantage do you get? Remember, when you get something (ability to attack air!) you pay with something. If the other guy is getting a better discount (ground only!) you should expect to lose. This is '[gold] advantage' that I talk about a bit in the video re: the town portal scroll /healing/a grunt.
wow at all the retards not noticing this video is from 2007, I personally think you did a great tutorial, which was probably appropriate for it's time.
You build your grunt and keep producing peons until 20 supply. The second burrow should be done a lil after that and you build your second. (having it queued). You should be able to expand then (say what you want, watch pro vids, ask any GOOD player - you have to go to t2).

First few years of War3 play, if you were top 25% against the remainder, the game was over after 6 minutes... ie., tier 2 was completely irrelevant. Yes, congrats, once you're playing in that top tier against other top tier, other things matter, like tier 2, but again, you're talking to the echo chamber of top players and ignoring the remaining 75%.

If you read, you'd have seen I said that this was a fresh reinstall and normally I have spells hotkeyed to Z X C V (1 2 3 4 in the row). I forgot that wasn't the default, and this was my first match afterwards. The rest of your comment shows you're a friggen noob, thinking you'd click on spells.
Mirror image gives your blademaster (before ANY units are out) a unit that can take hits is going to die anyway, so you don't have to wait for it to heal / spend money on it healing. You throw it in front of mobs to take hits while you kill them and XP up. Up until AROUND the time this replay was recorded, creeping a hero was still regarded as a first and foremost activity. First to level 6 hero wins. Obviously, voodoo lounge changes that a lot; but that took time to trickle down to the masses.
Moron. Law of large numbers puts your two statements at the laughable side of dumb. I played the xpac since release; now players skew heavily hardcore with /years/ more practice playing it than was possible when I played. I had 5000 games logged (and tournaments, IIRC were a 7 matches of increasing difficulty... surprisingly, I'd usually go 5 wins, 2 losses). 75% was not "pro" - pro is top 1%. There's 24% of all people who play Warcraft (that 3 million number above) between me and pro level.
I made the demolisher because the standard strategy of the day was 1) tech to mass wyvs or 2) 4 grunts / 1 demo attack.
I was, at the time, an above average player. When you consider there were 3 million players, that leaves room for 1 million better than me players. Not that you'd consider that. And you wouldnt' have me gone after 4 minutes... a hero rush takes 5 minutes on someone who can't defend their peons, and orcs do have burrows. Unless you're so pro your heroes all do twice damage.

Try being analytical - you can learn as much from a good mistake as from a good play. I explain what was wrong, and why which provides value to people who aren't brain dead chimps who need to repeat exact formulas. Don't bother. They believe they're good because they duplicate a template - build X to start, place Y at angle Z - and they have no understanding of the why or how. They're the cargo cult of video gamers. people. MI on the blademaster as he has said multiple times was a strategy BACK in the day. RTS games are constantly evolving into diffrent strats. That's what patches do, when players abuse certain units e.g wyverns.

No, it's that the game has been out so long that average had gone up with attrition and practice. 7 years is a long time... I quit after about 3, and had ~5000 games under my belt. At that rate, someone today would have 12000 games under their belt.. it would be hard to still be bad.
save the replays of your games, especially from the one you loose, have a look at what your enemy did, what you did, and where you can copy or improve things.
In general, the biggest difference between kknd/c&c and Wc3 is that Wc3 is rather like that one mission during singleplayer campaign where you are not allowed to build a base and have to manage just some few units as efficient as possible.
Just send 5 guys getting gold 5 getting lumber and focus on your little army.

The main difference is as you say that you have a small group instead of an army. Also you have to be a lot faster then in the others, as you have special skills on many of the units.
What the hell do you mean by absurd classical music, this symphony is a masterpiece and is incredibly well known and respected by people around the world, Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor is not absurd in the least.
You're confusing a judgment on the music always versus a judgment on the music choice in particular. There's nothing horror related about this video (except my lack of skills), but the piece is closely associated with horror these days. It would be like playing the Imperial Death March at a marriage.

Unfortunately "towers are associated with new players who ONLY make towers" but a lot of high-level players get there through micro practice, not better strategy and economy.
On a map like EI, the rax is always worth it. Some camps can be cleared with 3 grunts while the hero does other productive things, but its a gold for exp trade.

The only thing I don't like about Orcs is they haven't really got a proper nuke spell like the MK does. (MK can really change the tide in battle).

They are (were?) fragile, reduced rate of fire and there's no air in tier 1. You box the other guy into a tier 1 only fight, and what advantage do you get? Remember, when you get something (ability to attack air!) you pay with something. If the other guy is getting a better discount (ground only!) you should expect to lose. This is '[gold] advantage' that I talk about a bit in the video re: the town portal scroll /healing/a grunt.

1º Send 3 peons to gold mine, use the other 2 to buy the storm altar and the cuartel
2º Make 4 peons more, 2 for the mine, and the other 2 for wood, after that build a home.

Well, I haven't ended, because I wad in a hurry anyway, I use Night Elf right now, but when I was a Orc:
3º Get the Blademaster and send him to hunt some gnolls, or murlocs, be sure that there won't be more than 3 enemies, or you will be raped.
4º organizate yourself with those squads:
1 Blademaster + 5 Grunts
1 Thrall type hero (Don't remember right now xdd) + 5 Headhunters
1 Tauren Boss + 5 Taurens
Like this you'll have cover in your base untill the other 2 squads go out for hunt :)

You build your grunt and keep producing peons until 20 supply. The second burrow should be done a lil after that and you build your second. (having it queued). You should be able to expand then (say what you want, watch pro vids, ask any GOOD player - you have to go to t2).

First few years of War3 play, if you were top 25% against the remainder, the game was over after 6 minutes... ie., tier 2 was completely irrelevant. Yes, congrats, once you're playing in that top tier against other top tier, other things matter, like tier 2, but again, you're talking to the echo chamber of top players and ignoring the remaining 75%.

If you read, you'd have seen I said that this was a fresh reinstall and normally I have spells hotkeyed to Z X C V (1 2 3 4 in the row). I forgot that wasn't the default, and this was my first match afterwards. The rest of your comment shows you're a friggen noob, thinking you'd click on spells.

Mirror image gives your blademaster (before ANY units are out) a unit that can take hits is going to die anyway, so you don't have to wait for it to heal / spend money on it healing. You throw it in front of mobs to take hits while you kill them and XP up. Up until AROUND the time this replay was recorded, creeping a hero was still regarded as a first and foremost activity. First to level 6 hero wins. Obviously, voodoo lounge changes that a lot; but that took time to trickle down to the masses.

Moron. Law of large numbers puts your two statements at the laughable side of dumb. I played the xpac since release; now players skew heavily hardcore with /years/ more practice playing it than was possible when I played. I had 5000 games logged (and tournaments, IIRC were a 7 matches of increasing difficulty... surprisingly, I'd usually go 5 wins, 2 losses). 75% was not "pro" - pro is top 1%. There's 24% of all people who play Warcraft (that 3 million number above) between me and pro level.

I made the demolisher because the standard strategy of the day was 1) tech to mass wyvs or 2) 4 grunts / 1 demo attack.
I was, at the time, an above average player. When you consider there were 3 million players, that leaves room for 1 million better than me players. Not that you'd consider that. And you wouldnt' have me gone after 4 minutes... a hero rush takes 5 minutes on someone who can't defend their peons, and orcs do have burrows. Unless you're so pro your heroes all do twice damage.

Try being analytical - you can learn as much from a good mistake as from a good play. I explain what was wrong, and why which provides value to people who aren't brain dead chimps who need to repeat exact formulas. You ever play a game and then when you beat the initial rush, the other guy ragequits? Because that's not how the video they know goes.

15 minutes when I used to play was either A) bad or B) someone who had lost at the 6 minute mark running peons everywhere and doing an exceptional job hiding/stalling (and then we, in the biz, like to say they lost at the 6 minute mark)

Don't bother. They believe they're good because they duplicate a template - build X to start, place Y at angle Z - and they have no understanding of the why or how. They're the cargo cult of video gamers. And hey, with some reflexes, they can win more then averagely, and they can spout off how their templater has a 96% win rate and only loses to 200 APM champs eccet eccet all the while not understanding there's a gulf between doing and understanding.

people. MI on the blademaster as he has said multiple times was a strategy BACK in the day. RTS games are constantly evolving into diffrent strats. That's what patches do, when players abuse certain units e.g wyverns.

I usaly do rather well in all games I try, but warcraft.... there is just something about it 0.o I mean... I get crushed by easy enemy (sad but true) while in things like red alert or kknd for that matter I wtf pawn even the strongest enemys. So.. No, it's that the game has been out so long that average had gone up with attrition and practice. 7 years is a long time... I quit after about 3, and had ~5000 games under my belt. At that rate, someone today would have 12000 games under their belt.. it would be hard to still be bad.

save the replays of your games, especially from the one you loose, have a look at what your enemy did, what you did, and where you can copy or improve things.
In general, the biggest difference between kknd/c&c and Wc3 is that Wc3 is rather like that one mission during singleplayer campaign where you are not allowed to build a base and have to manage just some few units as efficient as possible.
Just send 5 guys getting gold 5 getting lumber and focus on your little army.

Thanks for the tips, my game has improved a lot since that post though, actually winning some now (yey).
The main difference is as you say that you have a small group instead of an army. Also you have to be a lot faster then in the others, as you have special skills on many of the units.
