@1987TransAmws6 those are 4th gen rims from a ws6 trans am. i know for a fact you have to have spacers on the front and rear. if you have a 4th gen rear on your third gen then you dont have to have spacers

I wish I did that when I had my old 305, I also had an 86. I was having problems with the motor shutting down while driving and got discouraged. I sold it, and got a 97 Firebird that had the 3800 series II in it. The 3800 was nice on the low end, but it seemed to lag when punching it on the freeway. In other words, the response was absent on the high end. I miss my V-8 cars...

Im naab with cars but i got a 86 trans am in great shape with a 305.what kind of motor did you put in yours because i cant back my tire unless i rev it up and throw it into gear lol.i have flowmaster exaust with no catalitic converter so it sounds good.would headers make it sound any better and would the exaust have to be redone?

TPI swap can cost as little as $500 to as much as $1500, depending on where you get the parts and how much you can do, without having a shop do it.

Personally, I would swap to EFI and use a Holley Stealthram, like I have on my 88 Formula.

Engine was a carbed 305 and I slapped some 87 305tpi heads on it along with the TPI setup, a large crane cam, and pacesetter catback.

oh yeah..dont get it above 500 hp. youll break the rear axle eventually..so beware. i love GM, but the camaro/firebirds rear axles are garbage.

Those are 4th gen WS6 wheels, and they require spacers (or a 4th gen axle in the rear)

I don't recall all the specs on the cam, .454 .484 lift. It is a Crane Cams Powermax 2050. Engine is an 86 non-roller LG4 305, 165hp stock. Wheels are 17x9 WS6 wheels from a 97 WS6 Trans Am.
