  • it is classic. Blues-rock, sort of Zeppelinesque kind of thing. It is the best of Audioslave's songs.

  • I find in this song what Chris meant by "musical differences" with they split up.

That Tom Morello solo was completely out of its place.

It is on its own a good one, but withing this song it is horrible.

It is the worst part of one of Audioslaves' best.

  • Perfect song

  • cool song... like all the others from audioslave!

  • Not avail on mobile...boooo!

  • Maybe this is just because I'm reading it in school right now, but I feel like this song was inspired by the character Piggy from Lord of the Flies. If you read the book the lyrics relate to him a lot.

  • 2:34 - there's nothing else that gives me the chills like this! Unique feeling!

  • A very very good song for doing love!!!!!!!!!!

  • badass song to listen to when your in to shit or mad to think about wat your goin through

  • First - The Bible

    Secondly - The Chris✞ Cornell's lyrics

    Third - The philosophic literature

  • Best Audioslave song, hands down.

  • Best stalker song ever :)

  • @Denzel1916 No way is this the best stalker song. Firehouse "Listen to Your Breathing" wins. Like a Stone is also bettter.

  • @TheSoulphus What about "Crash Into Me" by DMB?

  • @ShadowScope That song is too ambiguous to be a straight up stalker song. Lifehouse literally has these lyrics, "Sneak inside your room and listen to your breathing."

  • cornells voice is better than gods

  • Tom MOrello is wonderful :'(

  • the sea is moving oo'

  • hey guys i found a live version of this song on youtube. The audio quality is not great but is worth listening.

    watch?v=Ep5J9YUpEO8

  • I just recorded an acoustic cover of this song.. Be nice and rate!

    watch?v=juqWY0_AVZk

  • Chris Cornell=favorite singer

  • reminds me of Rage against the machine.... :-)

  • @dushyantdar IT is Ratm! just vocal is Chris.

  • @dushyantdar

Funny you should mention, everyone besides chris cornell were originally members of RATM, then they got together to form audioslave

  • Anything Cornell touches turns to fuckin gold

  • @CaptainGinyu91 you sir are a fucking genius exactly what i said wish i could afford everything he has ever been a part of he is a God

  • I like the animated graininess. Of course I like the song as well, but I just wanted to comment on the video.

  • ahhhhhh like alcohol sweet audio slave takes the pain away

  • Chris Cornell, fuckin love that guy

  • I listen to this song during sex

  • Chris Cornell, one of the great song writers of my time.

  • @BadHabit202 one of the greatest singers as well.

  • this has one of morello's best solos

  • @tpelc12 haha u should listen to "bring em back alive" solo(same band)...but yes this one is awesome!

  • nice quality :D - of the sound and of the picture

  • omg soo chill!!

  • Amazing song!

  • this song IS amazing- truly, they ALL are. Im going to see cornell solo at the Orange Peel tonite in Asheville NC. HE is the common link between the AWESOMENESS of Audioslave, Soundgarden, AND Temple of the Dog. Make no mistake folks, He's bad. Writting music, AND crushing lyrics. Do your homework. look at the similarities between all of his work over his LONG and PROFFITABLE career. The proof is in the facts. Not to take any credit from Rage, not at all. Cornell was the boss!

  • my favorite song from this album is be yourself

  • I wish this song was more popular

  • Great Song!!!

  • !!Great SONG!!!

  • this could totally be dubstep

  • compare soundgarden riffs to audioslave riffs. i would actually want to sit down and learn a soundgarden riff, so much more creativity in soundgarden. when i hear an audioslave riff i already know exactly what is being played. dont get me wrong both bands are definitely on my top 5. audioslave holds down a simple riff so cornell can rock the mic. thats fine. most of morello's solos are more like lets see what wierd sounds he can make and how fast hel play them. its just my opinion or course..

  • @ploxer22 I don't think I can absolutely agree with you. Soundgarden riffs are the ones that are all generic. Simple rock chords. Morello isn't just a noise maker, he's an electronic genius. I highly doubt you listen to him and can pick up a guitar and play what he's playing. I agree that his solos aren't right for the band, but he worked on that later on in the band. Cornell was the shining star of soundgarden. Audioslave..... everybody was a superstar.

  • @kjrock2 Except that you're completely wrong because Soundgarden had all 4 members writing songs and contributing pretty much evenly. Audioslave was almost all Chris Cornell. Soundgarden is about a million times better than Audioslave..How can you say the other members of Soundgarden weren't important? They were all more talented than Rage.

  • @vcough... Chris Cornell had nothing to do with the music written. Are you telling me that the band from Rage wrote music just like they've been playing for 20 yrs+ b/c Chris Cornell told them to? Sound Garden was good... but doesnt even compare... in talent or creativity.. or in achievements. I mean.. look.. Audioslave was together for how long... 6 - 7 yrs? They accomplished so much.. including being the only US rock band to ROCK Cuba's face off. The boys from SG could never write like A.S.

  • @kjrock2 well that's not true at all

  • @lolandsteez What exactly?

  • it doesn't matter where he is. He still writes and composes incredibly, and has theeeee sexiest voice in rock and roll.....or blues......or..whatever!

  • audioslave is fuckin amazing, but its good cornell went back to sound garden.

tom morello is good but some riffs are just too cheesy. this is coming from another musician btw

  • @ploxer22 Cheesy? I really do not understand what you are saying... To be honest i find Toms riffs to be extremely catchy and straight to the point.

  • @ploxer22 One really has to wonder about the ego of someone that would call Tom Morello's riffs "cheesy"! By the time his solo hits the high chord he practically has you begging for it. Both he and Kim Thayil are amazing. In the careers of these 2 careers the word "cheesy" is nowhere insight. And CC sings this song with so much raw feeling and intensity that I'm spinning every time I hear it.

  • Why the fuck did they break up ? This band had enough potential for at least 3 more albums ... Audioslave, reunite PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!!!

  • @KriosThane I was thinking the same thing yesterday.. they were getting soo good in revelations and had to stop.. i was not happy. :(

  • This album never gets old. :D

  • im so glad i downloaded this before limewire was shut down

  • @kmfrank75 me too

  • I think it gave my soul a black eye

  • @potatogoat that's a hell of a way to put it but ur damn right!!

  • spetacular chorus

  • Its a shame,that this song is not that popular...Its a great song,by a great band...And its a shame they split... :(

  • Best song to fuck too bar none!

  • @fishin4unicorns Lmao! Now that you say that....I should try it.

  • @fishin4unicorns proven ;)

  • surershot82 hiroshima blew up like this song

  • song about some dood is a slave to some girl.

    although he likes her...

    she doesnt...

he stalks herr...."corner of my eye"

  • It sucks that this song doesn't have that many views. It's really good.

  • 2:30 "yeaaaah!" that is heavy!

  • VALlewellyn is right. slow sexy insanely brilliant

  • I would like to see Morello play this song live

  • I 'm loving this song

  • I love the voice of Chris Cornel, so emotional!... and Rage was one of my faves... so here's to Audioslave!!! Love it!

  • my favorite audioslave track :) btw does anyone know the sound effects morello uses in the beginning? its gotta be somethin with the whammy pedal.

  • Slow, sexy, insanely brilliant - I can never get enough of it. That smoldering voice and the lyrics....best tune!

  • lets see im bout 20 my mom bout 50 and i found this cd in her collection not mine lol mom was a G

  • @Quagattack No worries!! I am 44 years old and I am a die hard nu metal fan. Dont tell anyone!

  • @Quagattack No worries!! I am 44 years old and I am a die hard nu metal fan. Dont tell anyone!

  • The beginning sounds like it should be the theme for a James Bond movie. Maybe they could make one entitled "Number One Zero" with this as the theme! That would kick ass!

  • Definitely one of my fav audioslave songs. its just amazing. I don't know why i like this one so much. I've always been mad about this song. although I think the lyrics could've been better, the song would kill you then.

  • Best Audioslave track by a mile

  • Oh my god. This song is one of my faveroute from Audioslave. Cornells voice mixed in with the chill riffs from Tom is just orgasmic.

  • ..only song ever dedicated to me..makes me feel cool..haha

  • perfect song !!! lyrics, guitar off course the Cornell's voice...everything, Audioslave Rocks !!

  • i miss these guys man

  • RATM > Audioslave

  • this is song why i bought the cd

  • @prem912490022 me too!!! and Be Yourself of course :D

  • @lilmo90

If this is so horrible, why don't you go back to your Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent videos and stop looking up "good" music, you jackass

  • This song is amazing. Just how they assembled it it starts slow and sleepy then builds and fuckin explodes like Hiroshima and calmy dies out. Just perfect.

  • @Sureshot82

asshole, how you can said something about Hiroshima, you are kidding with all of these poor people who died because the fucking yankees trowed that fucking bomb, i cant understand, stupid, STUPID

  • @scalandrum09 chill out, man. It's just a fucking figure of speech. get over it and just listen to the song.

  • @scalandrum09 Do some research stupid ass. Dropping the Hiroshimo/Nagosaki bombs prevented MORE casualties. The Japanese Imprerialist enlisted EVERY citizen as a militant. That makes all of a Japan a viable target. One swift stroke to let them know that the Allied forces were superior. Do some research you ignorant e-thug.

  • @Sureshot82 tell that to the japs, especially the bit about hiroshima :) nah dont they love these guys over there anyway?

  • Easily their best work. This song is an absolute gem, and a great indicator of what good songwriting really is. Possibly my favorite song of all time.

  • THERE IS A LIVE VERSION OF THIS SONG!!!

I found a mp3 on a "Covers & Rares II" 17 mp3 download, on some site. Search for that.

  • @Hailey1717

man you have this song live? =O

  • ok, yes someone finaly put this audio on the boards, an no, chris isnt what he was at the age of 20. But so the hell what he is still outstanding and if anyone wants to cry about it im sure we will see it in these posts later on or in other posts fro sound garden/audio slave. Anyways its friggen awsome so stfu and love it.

  • I don't think Cornell is any worse live than in Studio - He had a period of half a decade where his voice was iffy, but his voice has definetly returned recently, and it was great before the 3-4 year period, so he lost it for a bit and got it back.

He's just as great. Take most of the songs from Badmotorfinger/Ultra Mega Ok, look for live videos. Most of them are just as good if not better and stronger and nastier than the studio. That's probably why his voice was shot.. From overdoing it.

  • This is one of the best songs ever written....

After a nasty break-up you always have to keep that nasty bitch in the corner of your eye!

  • @barlow7824 ha! sames goes for nasty bastards!

  • Why is there no live version of this song!!

  • amanishoe, personally, I love their studio version better, actually! but that's just my humble opinion, no need to attack me for it, really! peace, andrea.

  • Ok... but the thing is, THERE IS NO OTHER VERSION than the album's, coz it has never been performed live on stage (to my knowledge) since i have every single song for the group.. :S

  • Oh, my mistake, armani, I had no idea. I meant, in general, I think Chris is better in studio than live. And I say this with all due respect... I don't have all their CD's yet... But i'll try to get them in the futurue. Thanks for the info though.

  • You are 100% right about that =D No Problem

  • Oh, thanks. Take care, armani.

  • You should search up the live performance of Gasoline. The one where they are on top of the building. That is a very good live performance.

  • They played it in Manchester on their out of exile tour. It was amazing...

  • @armanishoe I seen them play it live in 2005 @ the Civic Wolvo UK

  • insane guitar work and vocals!

  • I love this whole song but especially the first verse.. from :40 to about 1:35 is just so..chill. It's awesome.

  • amazing

  • How can you not like this song?? This song is the ultimate love song..........it grabs me and never lets go..........ah....it hurts.

    Lovely.

    Painful.

    AAAAh......

    Hurt me.

  • I am trying to like Audioslave because I like Chris Cornell's acoustic solo's so much....I hear talent in the songwriter, but don't like the song...I guess it's just not my flavor

  • Couldn't agree with you guys more. This is undoubtebly one of their best songs. Maybe my favourite on the whole Exile album.

  • Audioslave was so underated. Complie the best

    songs from 'Exile'&'Revelations' & you've got

one of the best albums 98'-08' my opin ion

  • Audioslave had the unfortunate task of trying to compete with what "music" had become by that point. The commercialized movement which proceeded the grunge era has evolved into a sick monster that tears good music apart at the joints and throws the pieces into "Exile."

Personally, I think today's popular music is a sad commentary in our history. How did 12-year-olds get the final say in what "good" music is? I'm glad they put out 3 studio albums. 3 more great ones for my collection!

  • are you jesus ?

  • Just when u think u left me blind i will be creepin right up behind cuz baby when i need to I will keep u in the corner of my EEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solo is awesome along wit da heavy rift the entire song is haunting and vastly underated.

  • Can anybody tell me if "number 1 zero" is a american/english expression? Or does it have no special/common meaning?

  • He's saying I'm a Zero, nothing, a loser

a pathetic falacy, an indentured servant.

    He's #1 Zero

But as Shakespear wrote, therin 'lies the rub'

Also check out Soundgarden's 'Mail Man'.

I think it's virtually the same message

but a completely different, and equally

    bad-ass, song.

  • so its like if someone were to pick out the lowliest of people he would be the lowest? hence the #1 part. now i get it

  • well, I could be wrong you know. He might

just be talking about the first 0 in a

    sequence or string of numbers. #1 '0' #2 '0'

    #3 '0'... so on.

  • oh okay. nevermind

  • i love the solo on this song.

  • it fuck'in shreds! 2nd best song on album.

    YesterdaY

  • I've said it since the album's release: they should have released this song. It would have been their 2nd biggest hit next to Like a Stone

  • I mean as a single for radio.

  • oh ......yeah they should have

but i like this one more than like a stone

  • Taking the blues to the next level. Great tune. I love it.

  • inspiration at its finest!!

    Great song!!

  • Why the &^*% is this song so underrated!? ROAR!!!! ME ANGRY!!!

  • amazing vocals!

  • Chris Cornell roooocks!!! I love you, man!

  • Best song ever!!!

My brother has the best taste in music!

  • "I'll be there to take the fall

though you tread on me for no reason at

    all"

  • one werd

    -------------gods------------

  • These guys are of the few modern musicians I can even bear to listen to anymore.

  • u can tell how much they grew since therr first album fucken gods

  • Someone on other video said Audioslave played this a few times live, apparently once in Toronto. Pls upload it if you got it!

  • the guitar in this song is badass

  • Fk man, I'm looking for a live version as well... this song is SOO UNDERRATED. My #2 Audioslave song. God, this song needs some respect!

Someone PLEASE find a live version!

  • CC's sexy voice & these lyrics...love this song! Wish they were still together...

  • This song's absolutely amazing!!!

  • i visualize chris cornell singing this song in a stage...this has such a bad ass song...very led zepplin influence...his voice is insane! i love it

  • Simply awesome.

  • does anyone know a similar song by audioslave?

  • Like this song, Shadow on the Sun has nice parts and a sweet heavy part. Real emotional. Nothing Left to Say but Goodbye has a different vibe but is good too. Heaven's Dead is great, and you might want to check out Shape of Things to come too.

  • Thanks for telling, I like them :)

  • the "answer" button didn't work, it was for tcf774 who told me some songs like this one by audioslave :)

  • all their songs are bad ass

  • right now the most similar song to this one would have to be "Broken City" imo

  • this song kicks huge ass. the slower part at the beginning gives me a boner, the kick-ass-mutherfucker-headbanger solo in the middle breaks my neck because I'm rocking out so hard to it, and then I get the boner back at the end. This song is Audioslave in a nutshell because it has the slow jamz in it and the rock out drive fast parts, like the many different sounds of the many different Audioslave hits.

  • i definitely agree, man

  • I fucking love this song.THE BEGINNING PART MAKES ME CREAM MYSELF.

    HELL YESSSSS AUDIOSLAVE!

  • Has audioslave sing this song live?

  • such a great song, i love it

  • I would poop myself if I could ever figure out the solo on this song. Far and away my fav Audioslave track.

  • classic song, and I'm pretty sure theres a live version on here too.

  • If there is, I haven't found it...and believe me, I've looked...if anyone knows of one...let me know!

  • Pity party. And then some anger.
