Wow this was in 1991 these movies are really popular considering how old they are. These used to scare the shit out of me. But mostly cuz the same guy plays freddy in all the movies. But then in the re make someone else played him and i guess that helped me get over the fear. It just made him seem more real cuz it was the same guy in every movie. I was 11 when i first watched this with a babysitter against my will. So i really was afraid of it. But now i like the movies.

Everything after part 3 was complete garbage. Freddy was no longer scary or menacing and instead was more like a morbid version of Henny Youngman. Add in a bunch of B and C list actors and you got yourself one campy piece of cinema.

I think part 3 was nowhere near the first one, but I still like that they retained at least a little bit of Freddy's scarier and more maniacal edge. I'm not saying it's a bad thing that they made Freddy more comical later in the series, I just think the writers/directors went a little overboard with it and made the last 3 movies more into horror/comedy.

That said, the last 3 in the series did have at least a few good funny moments.

I actually really liked this series and Freddy. I like that in the first two he was largely a mystery except for his basic background but then as the movies kept going we got more and more about his origin. I wonder how different it will be in the reboot.
