I must have been one of the lucky ones to not have played bad games like these in my childhood. The original Playstation was my very first console. I remember getting it for Christmas, and it came with three games: Rayman, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot Warped. I still enjoy playing them, now on my PS2. RIP old Playstation.

Actually, I think the REAL issue is with budget companies. To get better graphics and more colors, you generally had to do some expensive things, hardware-wise. For the NES, you can only have so many colors on screen no matter what you do. If they had bigger, more recognizable graphics they would have to at least double or triple the amount of space in the ROM, which would do even more to the cost of producing the cartridge. Making a game on a budget kills the game.
