2 ways : Parallels Desktop lets you run a Windows Interface and then, install the game or, like me, buy a Windows XP copy and install it via Boot Camp.

I've played this mod now for a few days and enjoyed it pretty much. There's just one thing that pisses me off every now and then in these ea NHL games. And that's the goaltenders' ai which is sometimes pretty unfair against the human player. I mean, there's matches where your goalie sucks big time and your opponent scores almost from anywhere. Ok, goalies have bad days irl too, but I always get the feeling that the computer decides before the game that now you are more likely to lose the game :P

I always believed 2004 was the best NHL for the PC, I didn't realize others took that belief so seriously... and I couldn't be happier to find that out (a year after I gave up on the franchise after trying 2009) This looks like a masterpiece!

@freydey: In what sense? When the agility, acceleration, puck control and checking have been reduced for more realistic gameplay, the player overalls go down, it's unavoidable. How that has any affect on anything, except that how the players appear in the editor? We have adjusted the game to play more like a simulation, not like arcade hitz hockey... that's why these attributes have been globally reduced. The only thing that matters is how the game plays, not Crosby's overall 99 in the menus.

I'm waiting on delivery of a brand spanking new sealed copy of NHL 2004 to play on Win7. My Xbox 360 finally gave up the ghost after months of being at death's door and was promptly dropped out of the window (it's no less that it deserves). So, with NHL 2010 now useless, I'm itching for the parcel to arrive so I can get playing the Flyermania mod, it looks bloody fantastic!

@de132 too right, arrived in the post yesterday, the graphics look bloody fantastic. The gameplay is taking a long time to get used to, and i'm not having much fun i've got to admit when i'm being thrashed around by the CPU, but i'm sure i'll get the hang of it eventually. Just a question, is the game restricted to 8 point movement or 360 degrees? If the latter, I may need a new controller!

I thought I posted this before and while I loved the old Genesis EA games, I had a lot of fun playing EA hockey on the PC when I actually got a PC able to run them well (ie. NHL 2000-2002) By that point though I seemed to be back to playing PS2 games or 2K Hockey. But this video is awesome and the dedication to old games is excellent.

The newest game isn't always the best one (ie. NHL 2K8 for the PS3 is fantastic).

NHL 04 was the most realistic game EA ever put out... Too bad they didnt keep the same engine from then on out... They totally fucked up in 05 and 06 and now in 10 it still sucks... the only thing better about NHL 10 compared to this is the graphics and the goalies, everything else including the menu espcially in the franchise and season modes are way better than NHL 10

@shotty222: damn right. i have nhl 09 and 10 for Xbox360 and i only play nhl 04 mod now. i discovered it in march and havent looked back. for majority of people its only about nice faces and graphics and thats why the game has only gone backwards. nhl10 looks nice but plays like shit. the playoffs in nhl10 are frustrating because ai cheats so badly. for hc guys its about ai and actual gameplay and 04 is still in the league of its own.

@1967RJB What I dont get is why they didnt continue on with the same engine system... All they have to do is update a couple things on this game and name it NHL 11, put it out on shelves and it will become a bigger hit than madden... The only way we can get them to do this is if we somehow manage to convince all the fans to strike and not buy NHL11 and force EA to just update NHL 04 and do exactly what we want them to..

much better graphics than 04 for ps 2. The only thing I find is player movement is much choppier and less fluent than next generation games. Also I find the newer games have more realistic puck action (like deflections and bounces). I love 04 though. Its probably my favorite of all time.

it looks good, but after few games in dynasty mode i was suprised that some star player in league missed like alfredsson datsyuk and some others. next weird thing is that you cannot change jersey numbers, in national I play for czech republic and plekanec havlat and fleischmann have same jersey number 14. And Im confused for you cannot set changing lines on AUTO in menu and must set it in every single match

No you don't have to set them in every match. Come to Flyermania net forum and I'll explain it to you with pictures. You can also change the jersey numbers easily.

man now i know how to set changing lines, but sometimes it sets back on manual, but it doesnt mind. jersey numbers I can set only in dynasty mode, right? and that missing star players i know what happend they are only injured, but why lot of stars players are injured, almost every team have one or two stars injured :(. im going on flyermania to try to find your help :)
