What a surprise to find this recording. That is my father interviewing Igal. They became life-long friends and I have very fond memories of Uncle Igal. This was a beautiful story and amazingly only one facet of this extraordinary man.
Igal Roodenko was a good friend and mentor to my parents through his civil rights involvements. Because of my parents love for this man and because of his friendship, I now have the honor and privilege of bearing his name (though not with the same distinction). He was and remains a great man whom I am honored to have known for the time that I did. Of course, I knew him only with the limited comprehension of a child's mind, but I still carry fond memories of visits by "Big Igal".
Thanks for your comment. It was a pleasure to work with his story. In my opinion, his interview is one of the most interesting oral histories that we have. A great storyteller - gives such great detail, even 27 years after the fact! In case you may have missed it: there's a link to the full 1hour+ interview under the video's "More Info."
