I also had flies in my unopened rice,didn't discover until my cabinet was loaded with them. I had to throw out everything.( they can get in or out of bags,more info and be found on the internet) Just yesterday shopping at my local market, I spoted the same type fly in the rice section of the store. I'm finished with rice for a while.
Found 3 maggots in a Mahatma bag of white rice. Ugh. Done with rice for a while too.
