  • I love the Honey Pomelo! The fruit inside is like an orange, but it is not orange. It's really juicy but plain.

  • @taylorswift749 We enjoy them often too. I just picked up one earlier in the week. I havea recipe posted using pomelo. Tasty! cheers! KtC

  • i love pomelo!! fruit

  • They had this when i was living in the caribbean, it is very delicious, and like already said, not as bitter as a regular grapefruit. Definitelly my fruit of choice

  • @maryfares28 A tasty fruit indeed. We try to get them when we can. Have a great day and enjoy the Pomelo! KtC

  • what we do here in our country is turn it into pomelo juice, mix it with gin and ice!

  • @ermonski Off to the store for gin and pomelo!!! Thanks for sharing. Sounds terrific! KtC

  • I used to eat them in the Amazon. Our boat would stop and we picked a few off the trees. Yummy.

  • @TimeGents Always nice going right the source!

  • Never heard of it , will have to find one and try it out ....

  • @bowhunter2439 Something different to try. cheers Bow! KtC

  • I saw these in my neighborhood supermarket and I thought it was some kind of melon

  • @llam89 I suppose some honeydew melons would appear similar. A citrus fruit though. An interesting fruit as it has similarity to the grapefruit but not as bitter (although I love grapefruit). Yes one to try Linda next time you see them. best, KtC

  • @kooktocook I've tried this before when I was younger actually and it does taste like a less bitter version of grapefruit!!

  • I HAVE ONE ON MY COUNTER. THEY'RE GOOD BUT HARD TO PEEL.

  • @rach85256 If you cut a spiral type cut from the top to the bottom it shoud be easier to peel. The are pulpy close to the fruit I always tend to remove the flesh not leaving any of the outside mebrane. A bit of work but as they say 'practice'. :) cheers, KtC

  • We call those jabong. I know it's weird, but I eat them with salt n vinegar.

  • @sisahhlee Odd? Of course I will have to try now. Thanks for sharing. KtC

  • I live in Florida, citrus capitol of the Universe, and I've never run into these. Must investigate.

  • @anmoose Apparently they are growing a type of variety there. They are compared to a grapefruit in the states so perhaps they have some naming that is different. I just gave it a google and few growers came up. Ask around and get back to me if you see them at some time. cheers, KtC

  • I hate grapefruit because they are usually so bitter, so this might be a good alternative :D Kinda funny how I've known about these for so long but have not tried them because they look like grapefruit.

  • @LadyofTheSummer Hi Lady! They are not as bitter/ sour as the grapefruit but still have a similar taste. I have enjoyed the fruit for quite some time but asking around I was surprised many haven't tried (hence the vid.).

I think you will enjoy them. KtC

  • Oh man, I love these so much..

We actually have one in the kitchen right now! :D

  • @Silverstarlightt Tasty for sure. Enjoy! KtC

  • Thats a new one...I'll see if I can find one!!

  • @TheVittleVlog Hi Rick. Apparently they are growong in parts of the U.S. but the Chinese imports are quite popular in markets right now. Depends where you live and the demand I suppose. Call a few markets and see if you can give one a try. Great food for the body. Have a great day fellow cook! KtC

  • what does it taste like? I have had some asian fruit before called lychee and it is really good, and they are also seasonal.

  • MOST PEOPLE KEEP THE SKIN AROUND CAUSE IT SMELLS NICE!

    DID YOU? :D

  • @noeX555 Made rine candy with it. cheers, KtC

  • ive been eating this since i was a kid! LOL awesom fruit! :)

  • @The2Onemanarmy I discovered it as an adult and travelling. Yeah, I wish I knew of it years ago. cheers, KtC

  • Can you tell me what this particular fruit tastes like?

  • @KlondikeBar86 it's like a bland/sweet/bitter(light) citrus fruit

  • @noeX555 like grapefruit? thank you though!

  • @KlondikeBar86 Grapefruit without the strong bitterness. A tasty fruit indeed! KtC

  • Great Kook! Now, suggestions other than peel-n-eat? I'm sure you have an idea or two up your sleeve, sir!

  • @culinarymajik Working on it, will see? :) thanks, KtC

  • I love this fruit!

And it packs so well for work....great video.

Have you ever tried the mini tangerines the sell this time of year at the Chinese grocery store?

If my mother bought them when I was a kid, I would never leave them in my lunch box.

  • @2damnfunny Mandarin oranges? Very tasty. I am a fruit junkie. I try to have it daily.

Be nice have this pomelo everyday. Just difficult to get around here. KtC

  • Wow this is weird I was just in the market today and I was looking at this fruit, and the produce girl came up to me and explained this fruit she asked me if I wanted to try it, it was refreshing and very tasty I definitely will get it again :)

  • @jomom6969 It should be available around this time of year. I have enjoyed it for years but not always easy to find. Worth getting a couple when they are available. Something different to enjoy! KtC

  • My small town walmart will never carry these! :(

  • @Texa41 Oh yes they will. The Spanish name for grapefruit is pomelo.

  • @HigherPlanes Hmmmm... I will keep an eye out for them. I love grapefruit so I know I'll love the pomelo! :D

  • @Texa41 Walmart doesn't have everything? Who would have thunk! lol

The fruit is harvested in parts of Asia around now and some places have it as an import fruit. Yep, depends where you are. I suspect it is in the larger populated areas of the great state of Texas :)

    cheers, KtC

  • I love your vids!

  • @itsraininginside010 Thank you. My take on food without wasting too much time. I appreciate your comment. KtC

  • I have heard of Shaddock but I have never seen or tasted one ........thanks for the video

  • @seygra20 I understand they are now grown in variable parts of the Caribbean. Ask around. I haven;t tried the variety myself but I understand as tasty as this Asian one. KtC

  • that looks good...just had a honeydew last night...thumbs up!!!

  • @HALLSYSKITCHEN Those honeydews are great. cheers mate! KtC

  • ill eat it if its sour i love sour things

  • @therockforever2 Yep it has a bite, but not as much as grapefruit. cheers, KtC

  • My wife bought one a while ago, but I was hesitant to try it and it went bad before I got brave enough to have a taste. I'll give it another shot. Thanks Kook!

  • @vampirat14 I certainly have had my share of foods like that (fried insects come to mind lol). Very tasty and always best to give new foods a try (twice). cheers mate, KtC

  • it's called 'jeruk bali' or 'balinese lime' and it usually pink. very lovely taste ;)

  • @123haninhk Yes that is correct (Indonesia and Malaysia). The first time I tried was in a Hotel in Singapore. I have been to Malaysia briefly and did not try there. I have enjoyed them in a few places though in various parts of Asia. A couple of years back there in my Canadian grocer was Pomelo (import from China as this one). I try to get them when I can. (The pink is nicer) YUM! KtC

  • @kooktocook i live in indonesia,so we have those all over. my suggestion: eat it with some salt (dip it a little) or pour some chocolate sauce (or as a dip sauce). or you can just do whatever, make a new recipe.

  • I always see these, but have never tried it. I will now!

  • @iloveflavor Well they are grown now in parts of the states but I usually get the Asian import (only around this time of year). Yes, a must try. cheers Jenny! KtC

  • yup we got that in the caribbean loads of varieties too

  • @gonzo191 I haven't tried one from the Caribbean. Keep missing them on visits. cheers, KtC

  • they look interesting i was gonna get one before but I am on some sorta medication where grapefruit is a no no so was unsure of these as well.

  • @gadgetfreak197444 Yeah. They are from the same family yet are different. I suppose the best thing to do is ask your doc. cheers, KtC

  • i love this stuff its delish

  • @snowblazer12 Very! A good fruit for you too. KtC

  • Hmmm... Never heard of this before :)

  • @mehquig You should be able to get them right now at the grocers. Particularly any Asian food store. Good food for you! cheers Andy, KtC

  • people....attention......attention. eat heaps of this fruit about 1 month prior winter and you will not get sick during winter,

  • @daprincess8282 I feel the same about grapefruit. Certainly true for the pomelo. I think a serving is 120% 'plus' daily requirement. A real natural shot of vitamin C! Good point! KtC

  • <3 pomelo :)

  • yummm i love these!!

  • Just tried it from the local grocery in NYC chinatown... taste a lil' bitter in the end. Why?

  • @hudalian Top/ bottom of the fruit? The rine is bitter than most citrus fruit hence best taking the flesh right out.

I have found the ends can be a bit more bitter but I have never really thought of it much. Folks do cut them off. Yes, it should be available where you are no problemo. cheers, KtC

  • its my hometown specialty , we also call it limau besar. check out ipoh in malaysia bro tht where u get it fresh

  • @theivious Hi! Thanks for sharing the info. As I commented above I first had it in Singapore. I only tend to see the Chinese import varieties here though. Yeah...can't be fresh! KtC

  • so how do you cook it?

  • @sneekygenie i personally think its best eaten as it is^^

or sometimes in thailand we make a thai-style salad out of it

  • @sneekygenie It is used in a few Asian foods. Chinese sweet soups use it for it has the bitter and sweet tastes to it. Generally though, try using it instead of oranges, pineapple or grapefruit (where recipes call for it). As previously commented, it is really great just as it is (and in Thai salads). Very yummy! KtC

  • in the phils we dont use it on cooking, thanks now i got a new idea ^^

  • @marcvince15 I have used the juice and pieces in some foods where the recipe would call for pineapple. Something different to try. KtC

  • tried this a month back, was amazed how tasty it was..the texture is somett out of this world..like a dense orange and pineapple in one...

  • @p4kiprincess That describes it well. It is kind of 'hearty' in a way. I find I much about 1/4 or so at a time. Thanks for sharing. KtC

  • One of my favorite fruit... I used to eat that when I was in the Phils.

  • @michellecute143 No doubt going direct to source is the best. I have seen them this time of year in various markets (Canada, States, U.K.). cheers, KtC

  • I LOVE THESE.

  • @chupamiubre Me too :)

  • That fruit is use for the Chinese New Year. =)

  • @TheDirekChew Yes, it is a symbol of prosperity (something else too). Tasty as well :) KtC

  • First!
