  • Halle Berry such a good actress

  • All I can say is...BLACK PEOPLE.... smh

  • It's funny because this movie was actually filmed where I live and it is not Martha's vineyard. I was an extra!

  • Two old women who love to gossip and talk. Every neighborhood has them

  • I luv moives that are based off of novels and krio history

  • This story compelles me to want to learn more about America. I believe the country has some interesting history. As I'm not from America, I have heard many fascinating history and how much different to the country I'm living.

  • This movie was filmed in North Carolina.

  • Like romance, suspense, edgy, fast, riveting reads? You'll love James Whren in REVERB, a must read about a beautiful, rich, master musician who learns to love someone other than himself. Read it reverbnovel or jcafesin dot com...

  • The setting for this movie is Martha's Vineyard but it was actually filmed in North Carolina.

  • This was one of my favourite books--hope the movie is good, too. And thanks for uploading it.

  • Halle is nog light skin more like almond if anything.

  • Hatred knows no color, race, ethnicity, etc. It is everywhere; and is seen throughout the ages. The consequences are always tragic. However, there is one cure to hatred and that is love. Love always over powers hatred. I love . . . love.

  • @BA86AB no one could have said it better !!!!!! LOVE conquers all!!!!!!

  • ednoisin, please leave your filth in your mouth and not on my video. You've been blocked for being offensive.

  • @lunargoddess2002 u sure told em

  • What a farce for white folks, some blacks, indians (from india) and the rest of this sordid human race to think that it is an honor to marry "white;" a race of assassins, murderers, hypocrites, imbeciles in their hatred, rapists and devil by nature. halle berry just made me vomit my lunch; thanks halle! Be blessed, Peace & Shalom,

  • @ednoisin Va chier espece de raciste!!!!You are the sordid one, hypocrite in YOUR hatred and devil by nature!!!!

  • I find the "over emphasis" of the "White" Grandmother offensive. Was it to prove a point?. As a person from a "mixed" marriage, I have "been there and done that" with racial intolerance and a movie is "not" going to fix things overnight. Intolerance stems from ignorant, uneducated, over christainised Bigots.Tell me, does a "whiter than white" Grandmother, make the film more acceptable?. I am insulted by an insinuation, that you need white blood in your family to "Make it" and be accepted.

  • @starquant The Grandmother is the matriarch of the family. That is why she is emphasized. Also, this is based on a book written by Dorothy West in the 50's. You are thinking like a person in the modern era. The idea of this book is to show how a family was and I'm hear to tell you there are quite a few upper class Black, Southern families that are and were like that. Being married to a Black man, you might know that already.

  • @lunargoddess2002 thanks for your response. I appreciate your reply. I still feel that my question is unanswered. The "Matriarch" has been done up to look like over contrasting "Albino". That is what vexes me. I also know, that many people made it, without the help of a "white person" as part of their background. It's hard for me to make the point, without sounding like a complete Bigot myself. I remember when I was pregnant and being referred to as a "Nigger Lover". Have never got past it.

  • @starquant Ok this book was written in the 1950's by Dorothy West. Should you get offended if this is how it was at the time? No you shouldn't. The book takes place and was written in the time that it was. Now, you are looking at it with 21st century eyes. Things were not simply this was in the mid fifties. I don't think she is done up to look like an albino. I've seen this actress in many films and she is extremely fair. Have you seen her in the Cincinnati Kid? She was blonde and fair.

  • @starquant If you are offended by her makeup, then you'll see that her makeup changed throughout the film. When she was the middle aged mother of the girl, her make up was more natural. Her make up is lighter when she ages. Which is normal. Most stage make up to show White people aging usually has them having lighter skin. Black people are shown to have darker skin when being made up. Chill. Get passed being called a Nigger lover. People are called racial slurs daily and you move on from it.

  • @lunargoddess2002 your comment saddened me. No one should ever resort to "name calling" to make a point. That happened to me over 25 years ago. If I haven't "gotten over it now", I guess I never will. Thanks for your reply.

  • @starquant You as a White person are not used to it. I am. You just lived it for a while and we live it regularly. Sure it hurts but you get over it. You don't hold on it to let you destroy you. I got over it. The people who say that stuff usually aren't the type of people who have any power. I take their power by not taking those words to heart. You, my friend, need to do the same. If every Black person got knocked down by the word Nigger then there wouldn't be a Barack Obama or Collin Powell.

  • @lunargoddess2002 I think if you and I were able to meet in real life, we would be great friends. Thank you for caring... I really appreciate it. :)

  • @starquant Yep, that would be nice. Hey, life is long and can be hard for many. I try not to worry so much about what people call me. I get mad as hell, then I let it roll off my back. Most of the people who are name calling are doing it because they are too lazy to achieve or strive for excellence. So my sentiments are fuck em. Life is too precious to waste it on fools.

  • @lunargoddess2002 it is a great pity, that most of those "fools" pay our wages and we have to "suck it up" every time we leave the front door. Or if you are "made to wait" because someone "better" than you has walked into the store behind you, even if you were there first. :).

  • @starquant Ya know, I really don't have that problem honestly. I act a fool. I told this lady that I came to return this necklace that I gave to a little girl that her parents didn't want her to have. The lady insisted rudely that I didn't get it there because she saw a different bag. She actually raised her voice to me. that is when I told her to stop talking, listen and then promptly get her manager.I don't put up with that. I have money to spend and I'll cause a stink if I don't get service.

  • yeah ..........don't forget your sun hat....you don't want to get too black and disgrace the family....(SARCASTICALLY) EVIL BITCH THAT GRAMMA SURELY WAS !!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how everyone is watching them make out on the dock.lol.

  • First lady of the family....damned she'd be to say matriarch...lol.

  • This should be on DVD. Why is this Not?!

  • @pheovlrom01 it is it just robably not in stores i saw it on amazon...$5-$20

  • "...and please remember the bride is to be light-skinned. That's right."

Bahahahaha! The look on the maid's face was priceless.

  • @MSW121185 lol the maid looked like "i know this bitch didnt"

  • I real want to buy this movie. Do you know where I can buy it at?

  • Thank you for posting this. I love this mainly because I got to see black people in a period drama. I love period dramas, but of course these are usually based on 19th century novels with white protagonists, as a black person it feels cool to see other black people top confirm me sort of, that sounds weird I know.

  • I have always loved this movie. Never been able to get it on DVD. Thanx for posting.
