I have bowling tryouts for my high school team monday and tuesday and ima b a sophmore im scared xP lol i made varsity freshman year but the incoming freshman now are really good haha i gotta get my knowledge up xD wish me luck
Dont rotate your fingers. The money shot as he calls it wont give you much back end in an oily condition, and its just a lazy shot. Cuff your wrist get under the ball. I never rotate my rist. Im sorry but that bad advice, can cause injury and tugging of the ball.
The money shot works for me. My avg is about 175-180. I like this release because it is simple and it goes with my stroker style. I think some would say the drawback is that I track over my finger and thumbs holes a lot, though.
@davidhindu not all expert village videos are bad. haven't seen all bowling videos so i can't speak for those, but the ones for auto repair are excellent.
I like a lot of the videos you guys put up, this is really great for a lot of bowlers at any average. If you get a chance can you watch a couple videos of my channel and let me know what you guys think I should work on? its kblackmer100 is my channel. thank you much.
@tiatrips its never a bad time to learn in sports. you can always get better. I work at a bowling alley and I love sitting in with the kids on our saturday morning league and listening to the wisdom of the coaches on the beginner stuff; it can be very helpful.
@tiatrips I dunno...is 16 mph good for you? lmao. I throw like 21 average, with no hook tho. Trying to hook has got me messed up...I'd rather just toss it fast n straight. LMAO
@DJXRyde I'm at 16 mph, rounded down. I usually have to throw it around that speed for the purpose of getting it down the lane. But I have a natural hook so I use that to my advantage.
my brother is the same way, he learned how to bowl with no thumb and its hard for him to adapt to another throwing technique....so i guess your not alone
when i bowl i only put my 2 fingers in, not my thumb...is this bad..can any one please give me some advice i really want to become good at this sport.i realy enjoy it.thanks.
using two fingers would mean you're a two handed bowler, in replacement of the thumb, you would use the opposite hand to hold the ball in place until you release, and follow through, if you do not use a second hand to hold it, your ball would typically be loose and move around allowing an inconsistent throw
Yes, two fingers is not an accurate throw. I used two bowl with fingers just because it was easier to hook the ball, but three fingers works the best. Be sure to use the arrows. :D
i used to do the same thing with a 13lbs ball and i hated it. about a month ago i finally decided to try putting my thumb in. it started bad but i had to find out how to hold the ball during the swing. i kind of curl my wrist a little bit when i hold it now. I now use a 16 pound ball and my average went up from 120 to 175 like that. im no coach by any means, just telling you what i did in that situation. just try out new things with a couple of games. its all going to feel weird at first
i had the same problem all you gotta do is get used to actually using all your fingers practice throwing it straight and them throw in the turn its all about practice
they usually don't shoot because coaches usually don't bowl. the best coach is one who doesn't bowl so he can help all styles instead of teaching their style.
This is sometimes true. In this case it's not. This man is Fred Bordon, pretty dang good bowler still and probably the best coach in the game. Who else would you get to coach Team USA. ; ) Yes, Team USA.
I aint the greatest bowler in the world here.... and i would like to use these coaching lessons and stuff but i can't because for one, (this video tells us to rotate the fingers) HA! for beginners.... theres no bowling coaching video that can save my life. lol i have about a 500+ rev rate, so this vid doesnt help me all that well.
This is a good video. A lot of people have the wrong idea of it all being in the wrist and releasing in the form of a handshake. Really it's just clearing the thumb and turning the middle and ring fingers. This has helped me to get maximum rotations out of my ball.
when u rotate your wrist you gotta watch if u have dry lanes the things gonna react like no tommerow....thats why i prefer locking my wrist at 10:00 and shooting over the second arrow
That's just one of possible releases. Not all people have the same release. And this is not the only proper release. I would say that this is a classic release. Todays top bowlers(in my oppinion) use wrist a lot and they din't keep it firm.
yea i just got coaching from jim dunn(almost gold level coach) or however u spell it about 5 months ago he tought me how to bowl flawlessly and this guy was jim dunns mentor
i agree im a 215 ave bowler and i still love watching these videos

I"m a complete beginner. I didn't know you only move the fingers 2 inches to hook the ball. Thanks for the tip.

This is the best release video, by far. It's all so clear now. This will definitely help me with the hook.

try to put 3 fingers then.
just like you, i only put 2 fingers before,
but later i change it to 3.
it becomes more stable.

yea mediumsteve is right,, no way a beginning bowler has over 500 revs..
That means you're rober smith or tommy jones...

Rotating the fingers is for beginners? How do you generate rotation on the ball without rotating your wrist or fingers before the follow-through?
