No, he didn't. He did for SML2, and you can here it on the Game Over scene after playing it for a couple of minutes.
@Koopaboy Actually, Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka was the composer for Super Mario Land.
Kazumi Totaka composed Super Mario Land 2.

This gave me the greatest idea ever. Someone should hack Super Mario to make K.K. the guy you play as, with all of the songs K.K.-erized.
