  • realy good pedal

  • Hey PG! Great review :)

Which pedal would you recommend me for a clean blues-type sound, this one, the mad professor or the mxr custom comp?

    Thankk you very much,

    salut!

  • Can you demo the Maxon CP101 please?

  • Hi. I like your demos VM... how about the Maxon CP101 Compressor? Tks.

  • Hi Andy! Thanks for all the videos. They really help. How would you compare this pedal to the mxr custom comp. Are they aimed at different players / needs / situations? Which one do like best / why? I am really trying to decide. Thanks!!!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos To play pink floyd: this, a clone of a dod 280 or a keeley four-knob?

  • How does this hold up to the Keeley Compressor?

  • looks like Maxon bought the dies for all the old 80's Ibanez pedals

  • @CouchTvYakivegas Maxon made the original pedals for Ibanez.

  • 2:43 -3:04 What chords were you playing? They were very nice.

  • can someone PM me and tell what the opening song is on all these videos?

  • so i have a compressor, noise supressor, and an od pedal. what order should they be in?

  • compressor->od->noise supressor

  • distorsion

  • will this give a good tone for a heavy metal guitarist?

  • I've never had a good experience using a compressor with high gain metal tone. I don't know why other high gain users even think about using them. Heavy amp distortion is already compressed. I dunno YMMV I guess. An OD is good enough to tighten your preamp tone.

  • you can tell theres much of a difference in sustain until you want to ring a single chord out, then you notice it almost quadruples your natural sustain.

  • and if u play clean solos u almost always need a compressor or else its gonna sound boring and will lack sustain.

  • what is the actual use for a noise compressor?? Still dont get it.

  • it tightens up your sound. think about your signal going to your amp, and think of your compressor, compressing it. tightening it up make it clearer.

  • A compressor makes the quieter notes louder and the louder notes quieter...hence compressing/tightening the sound and giving it a more snappy attack. An added benefit of this is extra sustain, even when using a clean guitar tone It's really hard to gauge what compressors do just from watching YouTube videos. I'd recommend testing one out for yourself to hear/feel how it interacts.

  • Fixes background noise from loud volume or high gain.

  • I am also looking for some info about compressors. did you ever find anything out? also where should these go on a pedalboard? after the tuner? or near the end? after the delay? thanks

  • you should check out the tone kings pedalboard video he puts it after the wah and i did this and i get a really nice sound out of my guitar

  • @ryanjames2007 after your gain based pedals

  • Hi I run a Bugera 333XL with a Maxon OD an ISP decimator, an EVH phaze and a few more pedals, Im in to heavy riff stuff, would this pedal help me out to tighten up my overall sound? not the clean sound offc.

  • wo what exactly do compressor pedals do? I didn't really hear a difference between when he had it on and off

  • Any demo using distortion?

  • So what compressor pedal or rack unit comes closest to duplicating the sound of those 1960's sounds. Like the Byrds and some of the Beatles tracks?

  • Jangle Box.

  • Love Maxon products

  • i play a upright bass and have a ok pik up sistem but i bin told to be abel to have a louder sound that i need a pre amp or a compresser can eney one point me in the right direction

  • active pickups

  • Fucking Loud amp

  • Whats the difference between this and the MXR 10 band Equalizer?

  • the difference is that this one is a compressor....

  • lol

  • wow.. beautiful

  • maxon is the shiznit!

  • The last comp you'll ever need to buy. This is next in line for me, I'm telling you if you haven't tried one you're missing out.

  • Maybe this was recorded differently than other demos, but this pedal sounds muddy and distorted.

  • what does a compressor do anyway? doesn't it take away all of the buzz and shit? but what if I hate studio sound? bitches.

  • Maybe you're thinking of a noise suppressor. Compressors even up the sound by making all of your chords and notes have the same volume level. Of course different settings have different levels of this "compression." ....bitches.

  • i bought one cos i play 12 string but once you turn off the compressor you want it on again. i like the compnova compressor but i use a janglebox for the 12 string

  • Man, i can't decide between this, the keeley, or the barber tone = \

i'm using this for lead channels.. can anyone help?

  • try an EBS compressor, its a bass compressor but it sounds amazing with guitar. its about 200 dollars canadian.

  • Keeley is too overpriced and pretencious for my liking. Barber just seems lame. Maxon, however, is the bees mother fucking knees. Get the Maxon.

  • have u compared EBS to maxon? btw EBScanbe used for guitar/bass/keyboard :) it's a MULTIcomp, what r their differences? EBS is about 40 euros cheaper than the Maxon CP9 Pro+

  • HBE Compressor...I tried all three.

  • I've tried all three of those pedals. The Keely may be a tad better if your looking to do squashed country stuff because you can control the attach time. This pedal is based on a dbx compressor circuit I believe. Anyway, this the is the pedal I kept. I found it to be the "smoothest" compressor, and the most like a studio rack compressor in a box. The compander circuit helps too reduce noise. Well all compressors raise the noise level a bit, but this one I've found does it less. It's a winner.

  • PGS - how does this compare to a ROSS circuit?

  • I don't think that pedal is true bypass. Or is it just habit, 'true bypass signal'. Hahaha.

    Great work still.

  • Yes, the Maxon 9-Series are all true bypass. Thanks!

    PGS

  • Consider my words eaten :)

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

That's almost true, but not quite. At the very least, some of the early OD-9's were not true bypass.

  • Is that anything in particular being played at around 1:50? It sounds really familiar.

  • ProGuitarShopDemos Great Vids!!!!

    What About CS550? & Fulltone Octafuzz??? :)

  • The Maxon CS550 is going up today! We are currently waiting on a big Fulltone shipment to arrive. Thanks,

    PGS

  • Great PGS!

    Thank you so much!!

  • I have that thing
