hey man, for that fence gate elevator issue, try using sticky pistons, with blocks attached to them, to push the fences, that way they wont get any power and they wont keep opening/closing, i hope this might fix your problem, thumbs up so our Doc can see! :D

The problem with your elevator is that the piston retracting/extending is an block update and there is a glitch that block updates acts like a redstone signal. I'm not a 100% sure but i do think this is your problem. Hope it helps! ;-)

doc, there are 2 kinds of fire:

1. block - which hurts you and other mobs and sets stuff on fire.

2. entity - like an arrow or a furnace's fire or a minecart's fire, which doesn't set stuff on fire but hurts you when you're shot and hurts mobs.

for the elevator, what id you use a sticky piston for horizontal, place it one block back and put another block between it so the sticky piston pushes another block which pushes the elevator

@DragontaleSeries That doesn't work because the clock that powers pistons sends 1 tick pulse, that means sticky piston pushes block but doesn't pull it back with one redstone pulse. The block is pulled back when piston receive next 1 tick pulse.

If you make 2 ticks pulse it slows elevator to half speed. But it will still not work because fence gate closes when piston arm next to it retracts or when block next to it is pulled by piston. Check my video response for more info and fix for elevator.

if you want the sheep farm minecart elevator to work you could use glass panes or iron bars but replace the 3 corresponding bocks with glass/glowstone/leaves so the pane/bar doesn't connect to the and take up a full block

Fence gate glitch: If a block updates next to the gate it will check if it has power, if it doesn't, it will close.

the fact that the gate is 're-opening' on your elevator means its receiving power from a nearby block, and its staying open because the check to see if it has power is not being called. this is because the gate is not being pushed by a piston but rather the block that the piston is pushing. if it were being push directly by the piston, the pistons retraction would close it.

Hey Doc! I just wanted to let you know this even though you probably do know. If you bring a snowball, or any projectile, you can hit a ghast's fireball back at them really easily by shooting the snowball at the fireball, back at them. Just some advice, but if you don't use it thats ok :)

Some adds to the update I found out: you dont need arrows when shooting a bow in creative mode, and if you have two like items, say, two enchanted bows, and you pick one up, you can swap it with the other bow and youll be holding the second one instead of the initial one
