  • this is the power jet...not the duo jet lol

  • @Hendrixreborn45 The Power Jet is similar but has an Adjusto-Matic bridge and Power Tron pickups. Thanks for watching!

    PGS

  • Does he pick with his fingernails?

  • How many steps have?

  • Is that You Got Lucky guitar solo?

  • @GodspeedYouMattP Agreed

  • I want...My Idol George Harrison owned one...

  • song at 0:43

  • song at 0:43 ??

  • didn't George Harrison use one of these on the "please please me" album?

    nice guitar. :)

  • @TheMaypo2 He used one with Dearmond single-coils throughout his entire career.

  • is this guitar also good at rythm? Please tell me how good.

  • what song he plays at 3:00 ?

  • @BrunoLS09 Pink Floyd, Mother. Album: The Wall

  • whats the song he plays at 00:17 ?

  • @XxStonedKillerxX Tom Petty - You Got Lucky

  • this is even more impressive now that i see that he isn't using a pick....

  • love it

  • what amp are you using?

  • does this guitar have trouble staying in tune?

  • mmmmm I'd screw it

  • Oh man, as soon as you flipped to the bridge with that bit of rive, I almost died! That bridge pickup sounds sweet!!

  • Hey andy have you ever taken guitar lessons? just asking

  • Hey PGS, loved the mother solo Andy threw in there. Is this the type of Gretsch Gilmour played at one point? Thanks.

    Mitch

  • Does any one know what song Andy is playing at the start of the video?

  • i have a question that I've always wanted to know. What style of music are these gretsches made for

  • i have a question that ive always wanted to know. What style of music are these gretsches made for

  • @MrFenderbender97 good styles of music.

  • @MrFenderbender97 Gretsch guitars particularly excel at surf music and rockabilly but of course, how you play is what really matters.

  • hey is the sustain good on this guitar?

  • nice demo- I find the action and string set ups from the factory are a little to tight. Can this be altered easily for string bending?

  • Nice throwing in "You've Got Lucky" ;)

  • What song does Andy start playing @ 0:40 ?

  • @2PaperTigers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - You Got Lucky :)

  • @TomPettyATHeartbrak Thank you so much! I couldn't put my finger on it.

  • i get to see andy's face finally!!!

  • Hey PGS - love this! One question: that particular guitar, was it TV Jones Filtertron or Gretsch HS Filtertrons? If TV Jones, which models for bridge and neck? Please advise! Cheers - Jonas, Sweden

  • @JonasSweden1 - These were Gretsch HS Filter'trons. Thanks!

    - PGS

  • These guitars are legit. I bought a Sparkle Jet last week. Love it!

  • @playstationfreak333 that was mother dude. not cool man!:D

  • What amp are you guys playing this through? It's not a Vox.

  • @ZachDRUMMOND DRRI

  • Awesome Axe!!!!!!

  • this is the powejet, the jet duo has one pickup selector and fret inlays

  • @ubacam I think you'll find its a duo jet. A power jet has Tv jones pick-ups a pinned bridge and locking tuners.

  • twangy, ballsy, punchy, mid rangey= ******* brilliant

  • Dont you just hate pro guitar shop.

    GORGEOUS guitar mind

  • gunna have a tone down hoe down yeee haw ;-)

  • And you wonder why Malcolm Young uses Gretschs'. Amazing guitarsl

  • damn!

  • I love the tone of the Duo Jet, it has such a thick and aggressive sound.

  • i totally agree with the guy who said that about the blacktop fenders i wanna see how they sound so bad

  • dude you need to be on the radio with your voice!!!

  • Heck yeah, some Aerosmith!

  • I wanna see the demo of the Black Penguin!!!

  • At 2:50 is that called The Fletcher Memorial Home by Pink Floyd?

  • No matter how many videos I watch, your picking technique blows my mind every time!

  • It's always the same old song and dance from these guys...wouldn't have it any other way.

  • DANELECTRO

  • Sounds great! Always liked the Gretsch Duo look. Great playing yet again, Andy! I want one.

  • you guys micing of these demos is stellar . can we get more information! top notch as always

  • Dude, you do great reviews, but you raped the phrase "hearkens back to..." Please utilize the thesaurus.

  • Yeeeeeah...David Gilmour and Joe Perry! Wonderful tunes Andy...well done :)

  • you got lucky babe (-:

  • Andy - That was some grade A Aerosmith man!

  • you guys should get some new curtains! i suggest florescent green

  • From David to Joe . . .

  • Great demo !!!

  • "Mother, should I trust the government?" I think we all know the answer to that. A Gretsch IS going to be my next guitar (whenever that happens); I don't know which model, though.

  • wow! chills! great sounding guitar Hey-Maybe on the"scoop ' or Andys corner you could throw up some Gretsch wiring diagrams, cavity shots and Gretsch info. They always have had a non Gibson/Fender way of doing things---I like that! great playin Andy !

  • Andy, where did you learn that finger picking? That is the way I want to play guess it just comes down to practice and I gotta grow my nails

  • @timm63 you cant play steel strings with your nails, only nylon

  • @kmcgimsey not by finger picking in a Flamenco or Gypsy manner like... damn I forgot his name... 60s Gypsy Guitarist with a name meaning Piece of Silver or something... anyway... you can pick with your index fingernail as if you were holding a pick. That's how I play :D

  • @TheBillStickers well you can to that extent ill concur, i assumed it was in the classical manner, like ive the nails for classical guitar playing but cannot do any fingerpicking on my electric, destroys the finish of my nail

  • @kmcgimsey not true.

  • @kmcgimsey you havent watched many pgs videos have you? they made strictly regarding various guitarists' playing technique, one of which was andy, where he describes his nail technique

  • Same Old Song And Dance yeah.

  • I think a good way to improve this kinda guitar reviews would be putting them side by side to more common guitars like a les paul or strat. so u can go like. this is how a strat sounds like and this is how a lp sounds like. it sorta gives ppl a better idea of where the sound sits.

  • Great video! could you also make a video of the Gretsch G5566 Jet Double Neck?

  • i want that guitar, so ZZ top

  • mother do you think they'll like this song?

  • @lovablelard [insert Dave Gilmour solo here.]

  • did i her the great destroyer in your outro? :)

    love that chuckchuck gretsch guitars

  • (drooling)

  • is that a blanket behind him?

  • That xotic pedal is a ripper. Really takes your guitar to a niiice edge but doesn't push it over.

  • Hey PGS, can you get your hands on some of the new Fender "Black Top" HH guitars and demo them? They seem pretty cool for under 500 bucks.

  • @loldecepticonlol I think you could bet that they will. That's easily the hottest new Fender item out.

  • @loldecepticonlol : they only seem to demo the top of the line guitars, $1500 and up:(

  • @geridg They sell true instruments :) Maybe it's really expensive but it worth it. ;)

  • Mother

  • Gretsch guitars look great and sound great, but unfortunately, the playability is not so great.

  • @Stringprodigy That's going to totally depend on how you set it up isn't it? - The necks on any Gretsch I've ever played were a little chunky, but as long as you can get action how you want it- what else is there?

  • @moucon not at all! It also depends on the neck radius, profile, neck thickness, fret work, plek job, how well the neck is set, etc....Some guitars just don't feel right no matter how you set them up. You could perfectly set up a cheap Fender, but it would never play as well as a Suhr, Anderson, Grosh etc...

  • @Stringprodigy wasn't always like that

  • @TheOriginalMack what do you mean?

  • It's not fair for the rest of youtube that any video with Andy playing will get a +1 from anyone who crosses it. It doesn't even matter if you don't like the product either :)

  • Of course Mama's gonna help build the wall!

    Very nice vid, as always!

  • Tom Petty whoooooo!

  • where is the grit coming from at 3:30 and forward? is that the DRRI or is it a pedal? great guitar btw!

  • @guitarfreak1921 yeah i wanna know too! sounds really awesome!

  • Nice Gilmour licks!

  • Precise string spacing maybe, but how do you intonate the strings individually?

(I dig the Joe Perry tribute in the middle there).

  • @kerranz You dont.

  • @kerranz rock and roll - how to you intonate an old "TV" Les Paul Jr with the crap wrap/around combo bridge/tailpiece. ? Get it in tune open and hope is about all you can do. You're not gonna do any Segovia Etudes on this are you? ;-)

  • that thing is sexy...

  • I would play it from dusk till dawn...

  • I'm not really the biggest Gretsch fan but I can always appreciate the Duo Jets

  • hey pg shop, im a big fan, how's about reviewing so ibanez guitars, or getting some in stock:)

    -Robert N.

  • finally i wanted you guys to demo for such a long time

  • you gotta wait for youtube to finalize the upload, it'll be in regular 360p after awhile~

  • the same guitar that David Gilmour uses on his On an Island album <3

  • is this 240p?

  • Andy even made the compressed LQ YouTube video sound good
