@ESCx2010xNorway The music for this was written in 1916, the song would probably have been put together after that, and in 1917 we captured Jerusalem. We then had the mandate of palestine. So at the time, all your jerusalem are belong to us.
Not one of the home countries of the UK, or even the UK itself, has an official anthem. "Land of Hope and Glory" and "Jerusalem" see unofficial use, while "God Save the Queen" is often used to represent it in association football matches.
@Kanjilearner i'm sorry but all of them do, England and northern ireland = god save our noble queen. scotland = Oh flower of scotland, Wales = Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. The UK itself uses god save the queen.
@deanlyst He is right. Jerusalem is also used to represent the UK, just like the EU the UK hasnt any "official"anthem. Tough God save the queen is always used to present them. Like Ode to joy is used to represent the European Union.
Nah, rule Britannia would be refering to the entire of the UK, as England is only one of the 4 nations that make the UK it wouldent be suitable. Plus Land of hope and glory is a better song for the UK's national anthem.
See now this should be the UKs national anthem

I like this better than "Land of Hope and Glory." I know it's a church hymn but it's just so freaking epic!
"Bring me my bow of burning gold, bring me my arrows of desire/ Bring me my spear: O clouds, unfold/Bring me my chariot of fire!"

That anthem sucks. They should rather use "Rule Britannia"!
