Fucking nasty,real women are size 6 and BELOW and the hottest ones are size ZERO. They are trying to make excuses for being too lazy to stay fit. They will die of diabetes or heart disease and not have insurance so we end up paying for it! I love this movie&this scene especially.It's so inspiring&inpowering to girls that might not look how people want or expect them to.(: Just be happy with who you are,that's all that matters.Everyone's beautiful.Including the girls that don't have curves! "Real Women Have Curves" is giving out a message: girls of all shapes and sizes are beautiful, from those who are a size 0 to anyone in the double digits. And that beauty standards are not, nor should they be, measured by what we see in magazines and TV, because they unrealistic to many of us.
There's a lot of racism in this film, embedded in a feel-good story that tricks women into thinking they are being liberated:
1) The white boy (with all the privileges) is presented as the heroine's "love interest". Only the white man validates her, while her own Mexican people treat her like shit. But of course, the White Man doesn't want to get into her pants (yeah right).
2) Her family is portrayed as assholes and backwards bumpkins who are holding her back. No dwelling focus on the White Supremacy & colonial attitudes that are holding the entire family back.
3) The mother is portrayed as a naggy, neurotic, superstitious hypochondriac who calls her daughter "fatty". The family is presented as one-dimensional bumpkins while the white boy is presented as the girl's Validator and symbol of Progress.
4) The Mexican women in the factory are presented as hen-clucking gossips in such a demeaning way.
5) The subliminal message at the end is "Girls, tell your Mom to fuck off. Go to college, and then promptly go and FUCK THE WHITE MAN...marry him if you can. Only then will your Womanhood be validated. Your Mexican family is nothing but retards. But the White Man understands you...embrace the oppressors of your people!"

i think a lot of people do it through insecurity. you know, laugh at them so people dont look at you. i am curvy (not as in fat, but curvy) so when i see women with small breasts and hips i always kinda have this half formed and unwelcome idea in my head that my body is better cuz i have curves. i guess its just the same as you would like a certain hair colour or facial feature more because you or someone you love has the same look.

This scene is incredibly inspiring to me. I am a big woman and this movie helped me to accept myself and see myself as beautiful and see myself as more than just a body. I have a brain, I am healthy, I am loving, accepting, etc. I have been dumped by men who can't see past my weight, and it used to hurt me, but, now, if a guy can't accept my weight, he don't accept me, and I REFUSE to change for a man. I don't look like that when I'm stripped down but I love that they're promoting self acceptance. We are all imperfect in some ways, whether it be cellulite or stretch marks or plain fatness. Doesn't mean we aren't beautiful! Women aren't just about their bodies no matter how much the media in the world tries to make it that way.

This film isn't to do with putting down people who are thin, its promoting self-acceptance whether you are thin or curvy. It's saying that whatever you look like, it is okay, it is beautiful and all women should be proud of their bodies.

I love this movie&this scene especially.It's so inspiring&inpowering to girls that might not look how people want or expect them to.(: Just be happy with who you are,that's all that matters.Everyone's beautiful.Including the girls that don't have curves! The films title isn't saying that women that aren't curvy or have some weight on them aren't women.It's just saying that a lot of women in real life out of the magazines or other people minds do&that it's ok,It can relate to everyone in someway.

There's a lot of racism in this film, embedded in a feel-good story that tricks women into thinking they are being liberated:
1) The white boy (with all the privileges) is presented as the heroine's "love interest". Only the white man validates her, while her own Mexican people treat her like shit. But of course, the White Man doesn't want to get into her pants (yeah right).

But then it does a SNEAKY SWITCH...they slip the White Boy into the story as the Validator of her Womanhood. Without his approval (and his fucking her) she is nothing but a "backwards Mexican". Her mother is portrayed as an oppressor: why not as a heroine? Someone noble?
Our people are so hungry to see ourselves validated in the media that we will accept any racist trash like this movie.

@IndianaJoel93 Some women work hard to have bodies like those celebrities and still have curves. It could be due to problems beyond their control (like hormonal imbalances - i.e hyperthyroidism). Or it could be due to the fact that they have such a negative self-image of themselves painted by people like you. Their desire to do something that makes them happy (like eat) vastly outweighs the hard work and positive-thinking it takes into trying to change themselves to make others happy.

i think a lot of people do it through insecurity. you know, laugh at them so people dont look at you. i am curvy (not as in fat, but curvy) so when i see women with small breasts and hips i always kinda have this half formed and unwelcome idea in my head that my body is better cuz i have curves. i guess its just the same as you would like a certain hair colour or facial feature more because you or someone you love has the same look.

To me I see a sexy cosmo magazine the checkout newstand and I think-those women have nice bodiess and are pretty, but not real. They have that Hollywod air brushed (too perfect) look. I enjoy seeing everyday real women walking around Wal-Mart or somewhere pushing a cart with their kids and trying to live life on a limited budget. Those women I want to not just have a quick fling with, but make them realize how special they are in every way starting with talk, then sweet kissing, touching, etc.

This scene is incredibly inspiring to me. I am a big woman and this movie helped me to accept myself and see myself as beautiful and see myself as more than just a body. I have a brain, I am healthy, I am loving, accepting, etc. I have been dumped by men who can't see past my weight, and it used to hurt me, but, now, if a guy can't accept my weight, he don't accept me, and I REFUSE to change for a man. If I lose weight, it's for ME, not him or anyone else!
