I gotta admit Luke, Guy kind of kicked your ass on singing on this one. his version really goes in alot deeper. If it's condolence I think you won on colors by a long shot. yah, I know you weren't in competition. just thought I'd mark the board. maybe you guys compete a little we'll get more good songs !!
This is such an incredble song! Probably my favorite in the world at the moment. I really like the way you sing it! Great video work to go along with this masterpiece!
Well I was here earlier today and left a comment but it wouldn't stick for some reason. This is outstanding and so very, very moving. The photo images laid down in here are so carefully place and it really helps tell the story. Luke, your voice does such justice to the overall 'feel' of this wonderfully written song by Guy. I sincerely hope the two of you will consider many more collabs of this nature! What an excellent pairing here. Thank you Guy, for sharing it with me!
This is truly moving... wonderful lyrics, and music put perfectly to them... really nice collab and I hope there will be more with you two. The vocal on this seared right through me... (this is a GOOD thing). Amazing amount of feeling put into this ... both the writing and vocals! Thanks Guy, for sharing.
Came back for more. This one sure does stay with a fella. Thought about it all last night after the first listen, or was it the second, third or fourth? Even started singing and playing it myself. Just had to. Too good of a song to pass up. As I did, I could almost feel the presence of a couple ol' boys from the ranks of both the blue and the gray. Could just see them nodding and shaking their heads. Once again, an amazing collab! ~ Mark
Guy & Luke- Too bad this wasn't around when Ken Burns did the PBS "Civil War"- would fit right in. Very, very good work. Amazing to hear, to read, to think about. Well done! willy
Holy mackerel, fellas, this is truly a piece of serious work. Didn't even look at the vid the first time through. Wanted to read the lyrics and let my imagination run wild as I listened to Luke sing the words. My mind's eye saw ol' Johnny Cash himself sitting in a dark room singing this one as images from the war appeared on the wall behind him. I'm sure he would have jumped at the chance. Ain't enough stars in Old Glory or the Stars and Bars to salute this with. All the best. ~ Mark
I live ten minutes away from Kennesaw Mountain. My relatives fought there and some died. My parents both had surviving Civil War soldiers in their families who sometimes told their stories. They went on to live full lives, but I'm sure they carried ghosts with them. Well written and well performed song, both of you. NAncy
Very nicely done!
