  • he's kinda goofy

  • I will own that axe. Oh yes... I will.

  • The shredding sounds out of place for the most with this rhytm-backing, nice blues licks in between though. I am gonna quote som random youtuber on this@ the shred-part; ''I know it is hard to play... but it sounds like shit''. I think that sums it up

  • @PhsycadelicRock Really ? The only musicians I know that don't like it are usually guitar players that can't play that fast. Just keep practicing dude, you'll get there. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

  • @IBtwoo His technique is all awesome, it just doesnt fit that well with that kind of blues backing. I'm not hating on his skill, i'm hating on what he combines what with.

  • @PhsycadelicRock Okay. But you put 10 guitar players up there to the same Blues Tracks, you will get 10 different solos, I promise you. Paul is playing what "He feels what should go there," not what you think he should play. The end result is a difficult piece of music that is'nt "Cliche" or boring ! Keep Pickin' !

  • 0:59 what is....wha....He's...HE'S EATING OUT THE GUITAR!

  • Paul Gilbert is the f'n man! There are plenty who are as good, but there's no one who is better!

  • Paul The master right up there (in league) with Joe Bonamassa!

  • No matter how good he is he'll never touch the super cool deameaner of hendrix.every guitarist knows that.. Some just won't admit it... Or they just have shredder disease..

  • @ronpoolman1

Come on... there has been guitarist just as good as Hendrix BEFORE Hendrix, i.e. Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery... contemporary to Hendrix and quite as good would include John McLaughlin, and after... Bill Frisell? John Scofield? No shredders.

  • he must be horny cuz he just ate out his guitar @ 0:59

  • Is that second smaller Marshall head on the right an MG?

  • What did he do at 0.50?

  • @1livefire1 that's probably a whammy pedal

  • @1livefire1 it's his custom airplane flanger

  • justin bieber dislike this vid

  • Watch Paul and Steve Vai's facial expressions and you understand why BucketHead wears a mask.

  • Where is here?

  • Bassist is playing a John Entwhistle Warwick Buzzard - tres cool!

  • How he do this? 0:51

  • @XxL30n4rD0XB4Rr10SxX Airplane Flanger AF2

  • @RubenSynyster Thanks =D

  • @XxL30n4rD0XB4Rr10SxX

I believe he uses a pedal for that, he also uses a pedal when he sweeps with his teeth/ass

  • i just listened again. bored to tears. Hendrix and Clapton destroy this man in terms of phrasing. it's like Hendrix is Mariano Rivera and Gilbert is a middle school leftfielder.

  • @johnsone7777 opinions are fun :)

  • @mandudyful how very brave of you. impressive comment. did you go to college to learn these communication skills?

  • @mandudyful this should be top comment I say Fuck you johnsone7777 also fuck you up you Clapton loving ass

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66 comment all you want. this doesn't change the fact that you're a misinformed, uneducated person who knows little about rock guitar. you're also angry and frustrated with your life. that I cannot help you with. you'll probably have to organically grow some courage and exorcise your demons with some assistance. meanwhile, i'll be whistling along, happily.

  • Paul is a dexterous and intelligent player. he has little to no soul, however. this guy isn't even in the same league as hendrix, page, clapton, van halen in terms of soul.

this is about the most boring blues rock i've ever heard. that's why Paul never really sold millions of records b/c his music generally lacks soul, and thus, popularity.

  • @johnsone7777 Who's to say that your opinion even matters? Because i really don't think that is true, what so ever. IF you were a true fan of paul, you would realize this isn't his only demonstration of work of his that reflects, soul and technique, just because you shred doesn't mean there isn't any soul and if you say otherwise, that's you being very ignorant.

  • @webrokeyourbed you just invalidated your own opinion by questioning whether mine does. thus, your comment is as useful/useless as is mine.

  • @johnsone7777 Well if you look at it in that way, that may be true. But his shredding is soulful regardless, probably not so much in this clip because he was just showing off. But he does have some more soulful sounding solos. All im saying is, paul doesn't just shred his ass off the whole time just because he can, he's tasteful with his note choice.

  • @johnsone7777 you obviously prefer Hendrix or Clapton over PG, and that's fine by me. But saying "he never sold millions of records" sounded weird to me. I thought Mr. Big's Lean into it was a big hit ... (unless you considered it a band, not his solo career)

  • @beefcake0354 fair enough. mr. big may have sold 2-4 million albums. ask the average hard rock fan who they are, and they wouldn't know. the bottom line is is that they are minimally influential in the history of rock and roll, and it's b/c their music lacks innovation and soul. it's hardly lacking technical musicianship.

hendrix, clapton, van halen...superior song writers and composers in comparison to these guys.

  • the best vibrato i've ever heard at 1:32

  • Is that a Marshall MG I see behind him on the right? :-O!!!!

  • Great solo. And Fireman is the coolest guitar in the world. I would sell my mother for the Fireman.

  • In this 2 minutes solo performance... I think he looked at his guitar for less than 30 seconds...

  • @ReXShunji and afew of thoose were when he had no choice like when he played with his teeth ;)

  • 1:00 he's giving oral sex to his guitar :D

  • he's just like slash when playing.. his not playing with his fingers.. his playing with his soul.. (tear drops.. then sniffs)

  • GENIUS !! Love the facial the facial expressions...

  • whats the name of this guitar?

  • @switch0123 Ibanez fireman

  • for a man that has Tinnitus,i think hes doing pretty good hehe...C;

  • that way like...100 times better than i expect it to be..

  • You know when Paul Gilbert picks up a guitar?

    Yea, I love that shit.

  • Is it just me or does it seem Paul Gilbert understands when to use his speed so much better than other shredders?

  • you about these things is a genius

  • @lesshowerrings its all about the feel of the song, and he understands that brilliantly. Some ppl just want to go fast and stay fast but Paul likes to make a good song rather than just use speed. Besides, you don't put all ur eggs into one basket, you spread them out that way when they are used they are that much better...if u get what I'm sayin :P

  • @lesshowerrings that´s just his style :-)

  • @lesshowerrings totally agree, most of the time he plays with funk and soul, then when speed is appropriate, ears get musically raped

  • @lesshowerrings

He is a drummer too.On many of his clinics,he tell how important the rythm is,to make great phrasing.

  • @lesshowerrings He was like a speed robot back in early nineties. The going style was something like sugar rush or juvenile rage back then, and there was so much meaningless shred without any care. He is much much more fun to listen nowadays. Aging does bring wisdom to some people I guess.

  • For those who don't know why is Paul wearing those headphones(earphones)....it's because he has tinnitus and wears them to prevent from worsening and to protect his ears from all the noise.....so those headphones are not going anywhere into the amp, their role is to protect ears, in this case.

  • He asked the lift engineer or beat the volume between a song and the other

  • @caminstudentesc yeah but how he got it was from him like standing er well putting his ear right infront of his amp and blasted as well "hearing sickness"

  • @caminstudentesc and act as monitors of course

  • @caminstudentesc I was jamming with Paul, His Headphones are his special Monitors + Hearingprotection. 100% sure, because I had them in my hand and asked him.

And he is pretty deaf, he is always leaning torwards you, and you have to concentrate that you are talking loud enough...

But doens't matter, best guitarist alive :D

  • @caminstudentesc you forgot to tell that he looks real cool with them on

  • there not headphones for hearing music they are to block out sound like what people use when shootings guns

  • damn! awesome! is there something this guy can´t do?..

  • lets hendrix it up!!! 1:00 awesome

  • Красавец!

  • Comment removed

  • where do the wires from his earphones go behind his head? To the amp?

  • yes.....

  • i think they go to the other stereo system so he can listen to a totally different song then the one he is actually playing.

no duh. of course its to the amp.

  • @TheRaffa010 no - it's his in-ear system. he's got his own "monitor-sound" mixed and is able to tweak it solely to his own purpose.

  • that to and he has this problem i think also with his hearing or something? not exactly sure what it is

  • @fobsternd lolz

  • There's no wires on them, they're meant to block out as much sound as possible because he has tinnitus. So he wears them to preserve his hearing.

  • @BLACKMAGICMETALMAN12 there are a few models of those headphones. 2 models have wires, the other one is just a earplug.

  • Hmm well according to the extreme headphones website, he uses EX-29 headphones which have a jack in them. But it looks like he's using the HP-25 headphones, which don't have a jack or batteries, and is completely passive.

  • @fobsternd

I'd guess to his in-ear system

  • To a wireless receiver in his back pocket that picks up the signal from the soundboard.

  • my God... me gusta muchisimo...

  • the one is a jcm 2000 the other?mg series?

  • great stuff, thanks for recording and uploading..

  • Your camera is amazing lmfao.

  • ma che in che data è venuto a olbia?

  • 25 luglio

  • little bit of hendrix teeth soloing, sweet

  • His tapping licks are back! I think playin with Mr. Big again gets the best out of him!

  • @NowaqP

There were plenty of tapping licks in Silence Followed by A Deafening Roar. The tapping lick in the title song and the beginning of Eudaimonia Overture are 2 good examples. His tapping didn't go anywhere, I don't know why you thought it did.

  • @Fluffypopcicle

I meant the old Racer X/Mr. Big licks. He didn't use those for a while.

  • @NowaqP

    Oh, I gotcha.

  • Amaaaazinnnnngggggggg feeeeeliiiiiinnnnnnnngggggg ! !!!

I like his play more and more
