@TheGodofwar009 Wow... What an ignorant comment. Do you even realise what is going on and or the health benefits of practicing any 1,000 year old chinese, indian, japanese, afrikan, etc. art? The secret is in breath and movement which promotes phenomenal health. Just for this man to make it to 93 in china where the average life expectancy is late thirties mid fourties due to the worst air and water pollution on earth is an impresive feat.
@thepurpledragon5 Life expectancy in China today is 73-74. It is going up.
In rural China, air is pretty good. In my small village back in China (Hubei Province, where Mr. Lu was born), almost every family has someone lived to more than 90. -- Some could have lived longer, but they committed suicide when they reached a certain age.
Wow...with his age and level of martial art telling us that yes we can live longer if we can train body and mind propertly. Hope he still alive or if anyone know that he still alive please let me know. Willing to travel to meet with him.
Yes, the broadswords are basically tools to help moving the body. The secret of the Bagua is the steps moving in a circle. You turn your front foot outward as you step in a circle. This is similar to ballet dancing, which derive from traditional western fencing. The effect is to exercise and open up the ankles, and allow the chi to flow harmoniously throughout the body. The ankles are very stubborn to open up. Once they are open up, you would be able to leap up in the air like ballet dancers.
this are the videos i want to see about old age..not the one that show oldest people in the world and are hardly seeing, hearing, sitting or breathing..no..these ones are inspirational, and a proof that when you live right, you live this way to the end...
the real reason for him living so long is because he obviously lives in slow motion, which must certainly have some kind of quantum effect on the space time particulum
Great antique clip! thanks for sharing. This is surely an inspiration to us youngsters whose most can't even move as fluid and as stable as he is. This old man's kick is quite fluid, fast & stable. His horse stance should be quite strong. =)
good old bagua :) Beautiful fluidity, extreme strength through softness, a form of meditation with combat effectiveness... and a vast array of dirty great f**k off weapons XD
What are the broadswords called that are in this form? They look like a cross between nan dao and liu ye dao. Much wider blade than liu ye dao, especially nearer the hilt
Fast? Yes, graceful? Yes, flowing? Yes, at that age? Impressive, but which elements of this performance show 'obvious power'? is it simply the fact that the others are present? or did I miss the bit where he punchs through a brick wall? ; )
lol, this is true but does not refute goldenagenut's nor my argument. power should be usable but not necessarily used. that is why terms such as potential and kinetic energy exist. power, itself, is merely the rate at which energy is converted. the elements of this performance that show power are his speed, age, and flexibility. while he is not moving like a bullet, he is very fluid and agile relative to his age. his energy is conserved and exerted precisely to maximize power P=E/t
Don't I know it! (a very good friend of mine is a physic's lecturerer, and Im not untaught in the field) I only really asked to see if there was anything more that I might be missing. I didnt mean to imply that the guy wasnt powerful but I have seen plenty of people who move beautifully but couldn't defeat a paper bag : )
@Donkyfishy - When you watch someone with that kind of long-practiced technique you can see the strength in his movement, fluid and subtle, seemingly gentle but you can tell if this guy opened up on a strike it would have a great deal of power to it,I'd be willing to bet.
His faijin is so amazing and his form is so sharp. The fact that he's doing it at 93 is definitely a factor; he's taken more time to master his form than most people have been alive. Honestly, if I had to go up against this guy I think I'd just surrender, after shitting myself, of course.

@qispirit@qispirit Sorry! I thought this message was going on my facebook page! I don't mean to tout for business here!!! Lu Zijian is truly amazing, and now 114. What a blissful life. I am more than impressed and would travel to meet this man. Tweet you are blessed!
His name is Lu Zijian. He's a Daoist grand master from Sichuan. I've followed him since I was a child. I've found as many pubs as I could in Chinese and in English. Most of the knowledge I have of him can be found on the web. The bagua meridian double broadsword set he performs is well known throughout China. This is his most famous set.
Most people I have met in life cannot do something like this no matter their age.
Even if the guy is fifty or sixty, the level of accomplishment far surpasses that of most Westerners and what they deem worthy of their time.
When will you see parks and beaches filled with Americans doing internal martial arts and actually cooking and eating good food and doing things truly for the health in preventative ways.
Getting in touch with themselves with simple stillness training is even remote.
His name is Lu Zijian. He claims to be born October 15, 1893. He was last reported alive in November 2009. To me, I think he is inflating his age; claiming to be way older than his correct age.
the asian culture, how they view the world, discipline, martial arts, being a good person, is soo cool to me. the whole entire idea of martial arts and the virtues it teaches is the greatest things i think the asian ppl brought to the world. so inspiring
what he use is called "八卦掌" in chinese , you can see how he move on his feet for a round movement , and yes , this kung fu is good for you to move around the one you fighting and give them side attacks
I've been lucky in down under Australia had a teacher only charge me $4 , his teachers were the 2 eldest son Yang Sao Chun & Yang Sao Ming eldest sons of the well known Yang Chen Fu .He new all the presure points Di-Mak but did not teach it the reason was he did not think is good for some one to have that kind of power .When I started with him Mak Po-Sun he did not spoke to me for 12 months only good morning and that was all after that he saw I was ok with the rest of the class.He was great sifu
Hey guys. "Chi" is real. I know because I have experienced it for myself. But it is hard to find people to teach you how to attain it for yourself commercially, as few know it, and for those who know, they may not be willing to teach it. The higher secrets are normally only passed within the family or to lineage holders of the martial art. Many of the internal martial arts moves aren't really effective unless you have "chi" power and know how to use it.
One reason why few would teach you real skills like how to develop and use "Qi" power is that some fear that once you have learnt it, you will start a rival school or business and compete against them for students.
Earnestness and pure heart brother, not some Hong Kong movie fuelled fantasy that in reality is still rooted in violence and corruption. If you are sincere, a true master will find you, otherwise forget it. This is a truth (I say "a" as it is not everyone's, but that doesn't make it any less real)
Look, I'm a hard stylists and very skeptical. I love the UFC and MMA. I love combat and hard contact fighting. BUT THIS GUY IS IMPRESSIVE. His joint movement is unreal for his age. If I can move like that at 93, I would drop Brazilian Jiujitsu and Muay Thai and practice Tai Chi.
I used to teach with a coach from Beijing when I was living in Hawaii and she told me. She goes back to China every year to maintain her certification. She no longer holds a true title in China because she only teaches for fun. But she's met him before.
A 93 year old doing Bagua at the level in this video is very respectable. Your comment of "He's currently 114 years old". Tells me he is still alive, I certainly hope so, as this man's abilities can help many, so he receives my thumbs up and blessings. I would appreciate knowing if he is still alive. Regards MrD =)
@MrD5147 his name is Lu Zijian.was born in 1893 and havent died since lol.he became famous after killing an american box champiom tom smtn in one-on-one live-or-die match with one palm stike to his chest.hes longlivity is explained due to bagua - chinese martial art of internal energy.aang from the avatar-last airbender uses this style )).and u can search urself but somehow masters of bagua dont die until they 90 or 100.they are very stubborn in that matter i guess lol
Lu Zijian's age to people without any understanding of Qigong appears obscenely exagerated, but dig a bit and see what facts are available, I combine this with my limited Qigong experience, and deeper theoretical understanding, and see this may be true, but I have not been fortunate enough to meet and observe the Masters which legends are built upon. Did Jesus really walk on water, did Tibetan Monks really run across snow without leaving foot prints, etc... ? =)
'qigong' doesnt matter age is age. Jiroemon Kimura age as of 6.20: 114 years, 62 days. he is the oldest man alive today. according to google search (wikipedia) if the guy in this vid is that age (and its verified) then he should be known. out of the top 5 oldest men, 1,2 and 4, are japs, 3 is from barbados, 5 is from belgium.
ps as for jesus, there where eye witnesses to confirm that. as for the monks, they very well could have if snow was falling fast enough. i did that when i was 7
Since are researching why not type in Lu Zijian - observe many posts, and he is 118 years old. "He is considered as the oldest living Chinese citizen as well as the oldest living man but Gerontology Research Group is still proceeding under further verification." Qigong doesn't matter - Yes sure like smoking doesn't affect your health, and Acupuncture may work but is not proven - EXCEPT 1000 OF YEARS PEOPLE GOT BETTER, but that is not scientific. =)
'Gerontology Research Group is still proceeding under further verification'
-when they do confirm it, its time enough 4 the records 2 b updated. intil then i go with whats verified. smoking doesnt affect your health. (ask all the native american elders that smoked religiously & still lived healthy into old age), its what youre smoking thats the question.
i dont believe in science except computer science. the world functioned long before science said it was the final arbiter of truth

believe it or not, he is at his prime. most chinese masters are at their prime when they are older. their current age should always be their prime

Few will teach you such real skills even if you have money to pay them.
DarkMind001 2 years ago
One reason why few would teach you real skills like how to develop and use "Qi" power is that some fear that once you have learnt it, you will start a rival school or business and compete against them for students.

@DarkMind001 agree
to real masters money is nothing
money can't uy health, nor can it buy qi, :)

If I can move like that at 93, I would drop Brazilian Jiujitsu and Muay Thai and practice Tai Chi.

that's awesome, he moves like a young man.

How do you know?

I used to teach with a coach from Beijing when I was living in Hawaii and she told me. She goes back to China every year to maintain her certification. She no longer holds a true title in China because she only teaches for fun. But she's met him before.

@tweetalig Hi Tweet,
A 93 year old doing Bagua at the level in this video is very respectable. Your comment of "He's currently 114 years old". Tells me he is still alive, I certainly hope so, as this man's abilities can help many, so he receives my thumbs up and blessings. I would appreciate knowing if he is still alive. Regards MrD =)

@MrD5147 his name is Lu Zijian.was born in 1893 and havent died since lol.he became famous after killing an american box champiom tom smtn in one-on-one live-or-die match with one palm stike to his chest.hes longlivity is explained due to bagua - chinese martial art of internal energy.aang from the avatar-last airbender uses this style )).and u can search urself but somehow masters of bagua dont die until they 90 or 100.they are very stubborn in that matter i guess lol

i think its a lie, wouldnt he be the oldest person alive man or woman if he was 114 years old
TENNSUMITSUMA 7 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA Hi Tenn,
Lu Zijian's age to people without any understanding of Qigong appears obscenely exagerated, but dig a bit and see what facts are available, I combine this with my limited Qigong experience, and deeper theoretical understanding, and see this may be true, but I have not been fortunate enough to meet and observe the Masters which legends are built upon. Did Jesus really walk on water, did Tibetan Monks really run across snow without leaving foot prints, etc... ? =)
MrD5147 7 months ago
@MrD5147

@TENNSUMITSUMA Hi Tenn,
Since are researching why not type in Lu Zijian - observe many posts, and he is 118 years old. =)

@MrD5147

@TENNSUMITSUMA Tenn,
I have no problem with what you believe in, I have a different way, but I wish you the best.
Blessings and Peace, MrD =)
