@GXPFiend So I am considering (seriously considering) getting an 08 GXP, as a step before I eventually get a G8. Did you really like this car? If anyone could rate it on a scale from 1-5, what would you give it? I am stuck between a GP GXP or a G6 GTP 6spd manual.
@AliveThroughChrist7 Go GP over G6 all day long in my opinon. The GXP is a great car as far as cruising around and enjoying all the bells and whistles in them. As far as performance, its a 4 speed FWD V8, just doesnt cut it im my opinon. The G8 walks over the GXP as far as performance, but inside the GP has it beat a lot in my many ways. Not dissing the GP GXP at all, I loved the car and got a lot of looks in it. I just wanted to go the 6 speed RWD route.
@GXPFiend Okay, I really want the GP. I can actually find them for cheaper than a G6 I want, and there seems to be more around to pick from. I can get one here for 13k with 59k miles on it. I can't beat that. I see what you mean about the V8 FWD 4Spd, but thats a real step up for me from the 3.5 VVT in my 07 G6. Thats almost a 80HP increase for me. Do you think the GP GXP would out run a G6 GTP 6 spd? No doubt they sound better, and are nicer, and more mod-able.
@AliveThroughChrist7 Yea I do. I think they run low to mid 14s stock. Not bad at all. The only real draw back is that there is like no aftermarket for the LS4 unfortunately.
@GXPFiend Okay thanks. I have another question though. Someone told me that the LS4 was not a performance engine, rather it was just a truck engine in a car. That sounded odd to me that the 5.3L truck engine is actually a cast iron LH6 engine, while the GXP has an alloy "LS"4. But beyond that, if the engine was not intended for performance, why make it out of alloy and put the signature "LS" code on it? LS is a performance series. This made me mad. Any comments?
@GXPFiend what does the downpipe do? and are you saying just run the downpipe right from the manifold and then do catback? would it be louder or would it give you better performance or neither?

@bigrudeth I sold this car about a year ago, but really enjoyed it. Only downfall to this cat-back is that it drones. If you can live with that, it has a nice idle and WOT sound. Thanks for the comment.

I love the Magnaflow. It sounds really good when Tap-shifting. I love my CAI intake. Probably the cleanest cold air box you can buy for the LS4. I will be getting a tune soon through overkill.
I just ordered a cold air inductions box last week. I'm waiting until a handheld tuner is available for mine before I tune it. I haven't found one yet that works for 09's.
Yea that is understandable. Least then you don't have to ship in your PCM. Only complaint I can say I had with the air box was that it didn't seem to mount flush with the frame of my car, so I had to do some adjustments to get it flush. 09 was the last year of the Impala SS right? I am almost certain that the LS4 died with the Impala SS.
what horsepwer gain did you get from the exhaust? Cause these cars are 303 hp stock

@chevelle454ss1 Get a 3 inch downpipe and get rid of the mufflers. Check out my G8 its a 180 from what this is.
