  • This is a bad demonstration, firstly, the angle of nozle appears to be wrong ie. pointing upwards which to more likely to damage the mouth and also, the best way of dosing is to put your thumb in the sheeps mouth between the front and back teeth over the tounge and cup the palm under the jaw, this restrains the sheep and protects the mouth from damage as the other hand is used to insert the dosing gun from the other side with the other hand over the back of the tounge.

  • @mallarchy The nozzle does look ‘upwards’ but when Adam puts it into the sheep’s mouth he gets the angle about right; with a conventional gun the wrist does turn so the angle changes. He cups the chin nicely and we make it clear that the gun should enter from the side, not the front. Regarding the method of restraint, you can squeeze on the gum between the incisors and molars, but there is a down side to this as molar teeth are VERY sharp and if you catch one it will rip your thumb!

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing!

  • I help my dad drench it's fun as

  • sheep are clever not stupid

  • @shepherdewan Thank you for your comment, and we totally agree - sheep are much cleverer than most people think, that's why they have survived for thousands of years in harsh environments, and are one of our most valuable grazing animals. In our DVDs we have a section that explains how working with the sheep's natural instincts while shepherding is much more effective than trying to force them to do something against their nature.

  • Great video - well explained with good footage.
