Nice movie. I've made some short films myself, and I can say this is impressive with its content and emotion. It's hard to make movies with non actors and when your just starting out, but just like anything else, you'll get a lot tighter if you practicing. The ending was really good. Keep what's working for your next project, and work on the little things like sound and acting as you go. Peace.
