I met this woman a year and a half ago, did not hit it off well. We yelled and screamed at each other, just ugly. Over this past 18 months I have researched her, watched interviews like these and after all this time I went back to speak to her again. I agree with her on some points, disagree with others but I had to tell her that regardless of right or wrong you have to admire her dedication and persistance. I end in saying, regardless of her appearance THIS WOMAN IS NOT CRAZY,QUITE THE OPPOSITE
She has been protesting for 25 years. Many can't even contribute once to a protest walk for a mile or a couple of miles. Some Americans have lots talk, but, like congress, can't walk their talk.
She abandoned her family, left her 6 year old daughter to be raised by others, and became a vagabond, a vagrant. To abandon her own little girl takes an insane mind.
I met this woman severla times in DC and she was extremely sane, intelligent and truly patient to devote her life against the corruption that has infested DC Bless Her, SHE IS A TRUE AMERICAN HERO!
What a nut. "THEY" come and hit her head every night? Ha Ha! I've been to the white house and seen her photos of the president made to look like Bin Laden. Anyone who equates the president with Bin Laden is plainly affected and blinded by his hatred of the president.I wonder how much of our tax dollars pay for her to live since she obviously can't work. Isn't there a vagrency law? I mean, I couldn't just pitch a tent on public property and make it my own.
A Greek scholar once said "The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage." This woman knows & live that quote fully. I admire her. May God bless her.
She sure has determination! She totally believes in her cause, so I do not think she gives two hoots to silly comments from anyone or anything(!). Her commitment is truly inspiring!
WOW!! & I've NEVER even heard of her! where have I been living! ..duhh. Gosh, I feel so stupid! She is really a remarkable woman. A woman of substance!
Don't feel stupid! Better late than never, and if you think this remarkable woman was overlooked by the media by mistake, it just ain't so! The powers that be would love it if nobody heard of her, so I'm sure undue influence has been exerted to keep us from knowing. But, now we do!
she is something else this woman. Yea, civil disobedience or non-violent protest, that is the only way. By the way, if my previous inputs appears repetitive, pls. delete them. I have a problem with your site putting in my comments.
Some street performer who was trying to hit on Sasha who was too polite to brush him off. After 25 years of living in her tent, Concepcion looks like a homeless person wearing a helmet and to many people, she is invisible.
Ahh, anyway thanks again or this. Very inspiring now especially as I went the the MLK Center this week and feeling very inspired about the power of unified nonviolent protest and the methods used - which she mentioned, sheer numbers of people marching, boycotts, etc. The only way to effect true change!
Kliint, my friend who I performed the Declaration of Independence with, was so inspired by her that he and his partner Caroline, give away everything they own to devote themselves to activism.
They are now traveling the country participating in actions for change.
When I first saw Concepcion, I thought she looked demented, until I listened to what she had to say. It dawned on me that what she is protesting and standing against is infinitely much more insane than she could ever be.
I remember when I first saw her back around '96. I haven't been to DC lately, but I'm glad to see she's still there. Like you said above, it's her commitment that's inspiring.
As someone who used to canvass door-to-door for SANE/FREEZE, I identify strongly with this woman's cause (I saw her website) and I recognize her sacrifice. Im not sure if she is right about OIL and I'm nort sure if her bloodless revolution would lead to something on which we all could agree
Non-violent protest, or civil disobedience, as she said, is the ONLY effective way to make a change. If you do not think it works, then go the the MLK center in Atlanta, or read about Lech Walesa, Gandhi, or Apartheid in SA. Like she said, many people can effect a change. But no one will move or step out. We, and our children, are trained to do as we are told instead of following our conscience.
vas long as she dosent say that 9/11 was an inside job or anything like that than shes fine

Really? For vagrancy?
Oh, I won't equate Bush to bin laden by the way. Bin Laden has more grey cells up there :)

Yes, it is her commitment to activism I relate to, not necessarily the specifics.
