Thank You So, so much for posting this beautiful love song that my Dad bought so many yrears ago for my Mum, and now I'm over 60 years old, they think it never existed and was a figment of my imagination. Gonna prove them wrong!!! Thanks again for the posting. xx
Unless you were tone deaf, YES you always knew! I said a thousand times and always when it had to be expressed. YES, even when there was no need to say it. It just made me feel so good to tell you and you always responded in kind. Love You Guy Oscar Bush, Always!
There was a song by Bernadette from her self titled album Bernadette Peters, i think it was called "When You Walk Into The Room." Is that right? I can't seem to find that track. I love Bernadette, she's so beautiful.
simply awesome- imo the loveliest love song ever written, in a beautifully heart-rending, heart-warming performance by the incomparable Bernadette. not a dry eye here. 'nuff said.
Well you can't really sing an 'r'. You have to jump right into the next vowel. Plus she's probably trying to make it through the song - songs like these hit home to her. Plus, New York accent too.
An absolutely beautiful rendition of a great WW2 song by Gordon and Warren. This was the theme music for a movie in the 50s named D Day the Six of June.I loved the movie and this song.Where would music lovers be without the genius of Mack Gordon and Harry Warren? They were the best!
Mack Gordon and Harry Warren wrote the lyrics to this song in 1943. I love this song, and I love Bernadette's fantastic rendition. Does anyone know on which cd of hers I can find this song? Thanks for posting.
this is from the CD simply called Bernadette released in 1992, available used and new on Ama...com. It was originally on an album in 1980 or '81. I agree it's just lovely!
@CardboardCreative You'll Never Know" was written by Harry Warren and the lyrics by Mack Gordon, based on a poem written by a young Oklahoma war bride named Dorothy Fern Norris. The song was featured in the 1943 movie Hello, Frisco, Hello where it is sung by Alice Faye. It was also performed by Faye in the 1944 film Four Jills in a Jeep. It was recorded in 1943 by, among others, Frank Sinatra and Dick Haymes. Haymes' version was a #1 hit
omigosh this is so cool that she sings this! i'm only familiar with the version Kristin Chenoweth sings. which is also amazing by the way. but anyways thanks for posting this!

Did she sing this song after 2005 (the year her husband died)? If so it makes sense.

She sounds a bit childish in this song - she sings with a bit of a lisp and her "r"s sound more like "w"s.
Other than that, pretty good.

did cole porter write this?

No, it's a Harry Warren and a Mack Gordon song from '43. Betty Grable sang it in Diamond Horseshow in, I *think*, '45.
This version is so lovely, though...
