Nice playing, some technical stuff but you gets pretty awesome melodical parts too.
I'm pretty interrested by these strange guitars, and since I couldn't try one out at the moment, I got a question: Does the tremolo stays in tune well when you use it or not ?
The trem system on the Hohner you see in the video is very stable and can do warbles and dives and return to pitch withotu difficulty. The tuning keys on it are real nice too.
However, I have a Steinberger Spirit with exactly the same bridge on it, and it has a little trouble returning to pitch and is a bit unstable. Also the trem tension screws are stuck and can't be released.
The consensus is that the trems are ok, but there's some bad ones.Google around!
Hey, thanks so much for watching! This video is a bit old now, and some of my playing has changed, some for better and some for worse... :| I have recorded a few "updated" versions of me covering this song.
GIGANTIC I LOVE SO MUCH YOUR TECHNICS YOUR SOUND ,THE POD IS FANTASTIC TOO I HAVE THE SAME AS YOU ,WONDERFULL SONG AND IMPROVISATION TAPPING IS GENIOUS 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/5 stars!!!!!
A Hohner G3t is a licensed version, essentially of a "real Steinberger". It is all made of wood. The real steinbergers had graphite necks I think, and are made with a little more care and more expensive materials.
Certainly in the old days I have seen videos of the Steinberger USA factory and it has a very "hands-on" approach, the workers look like they care about what they build. The G3T is made in Korea I think.
Nice job. By the way do you know anything about the black plastic thing conected to the push-pull pot. I want to change its pickups too. Turn all pickups off. Pull up the pot. pickups start working. know anytrhing about it?
I know some G3Ts had the push pull pot. Mine does not, unfortunately! Which plastic bit do you mean? Is it connected to the pushpull? I know the offical G3T wiring diagram has this "blend sound" thing inside. Does that sound like what you mean? I can send you that diagram if you want.
TehJosh, you're very kind. I made this vid in a hurry, so it has a few flubs and weirdness in it...but thank you for watching and commenting. I got my Hohner in the UK Ebay. I paid about £200 for it.
I would say yes, it is a little too much. In my opinion. BUT in America they sell for $600 new! I would urge you to try one out.
I can make and upload a video for you showing the specifications and look and layout of the guitar and what problems/good things it has. Comment continues....
One thing you have to be aware of, is that the neck is REALLY REALLY fat. I can email you pictures if you like.
Also, the tremelo is very stiff to move about compared to a Floyd. Pushing down is harder because you are pressing a very large single spring together when you push down.
Also, found the mini toggle switches were a bit too small to toggle quickly, so I switched them. I kinda fooled around a bit more and the wiring is now wrong, and Hohner keep sending me the wrong wiring diagram for it.
The pickups get a very bad reputation, but if you swap them, that can be solved. OR if you use a lot of effects, the pickups can sound OK actually. I get very nice harmonics from the Hohner around the 9th fret, which I take to indicate good quality.
Finally, the strap hangs the guitar in a weird position and it takes time to get used to. the twelth fret is more to the left and away from the body than on a normal guitar.
Neck is wide too, BTW. One of the widest I have seen.
Nice playing, some technical stuff but you gets pretty awesome melodical parts too.

But I am not an expert!

Hi. Could you please send me the full G3T wiring diagram with the blend sound inside. That would be great.

what strings you use?
link plz
i bought the wrong ones there longer
eman737 4 years ago
The strings that were on that were whatever the factory sued.
But: LA Bella and D'addario make double ball end strings, the ones you'd need for a guitar like the one in the video.
The D'addario code is ESXL110 for 10s and ESXL120 for 9s.
La Bella makes them too. Just look for Double Ball strings on an internet search or Ebay and you should find some.
GHS make sets of them too but I have not tried them.
Good luck!
