And the "hack" is actually a technique called snaking. Lots of turbos make you go over normal speed. For miles, the barrel train goes around 70 with turbo, 57 without. But you are right about the dk mountain cannon top speed.

@Centrus67 Wow you have no brain do you? I was pretty much going 40 MPH the whole way and I got only about 5 seconds under. So this guy is obviously hacking. Plus iv'e tested this out and its imposible to go over 100 miles per hour on this game. The only time in the game you do that is in the barrel in DK mountian or the tube thing in Rainbow Road. Try it your self, it's not possible.

Why are they using the train kart? Personally, I think the bullet bill kart is better. It dropped my time from 1:11:1something to 1:10:8something in just a few goes.

The train kart is much better than the rest, used for all WRs! with mayb the exception of the toad kart on DKM now and then.

barrel train is the heaviest "light" person kart, which means it drops faster while not compensating for lack of accel that the heavy "heavyweight" person karts have. it's almost the perfect balance.

bullet is lighter and thus slides more. but it's good nonetheless
