I don't know if aliens have come to Earth or not but I do know that a UFO doesn't have to come from outer space. Unidentified flying object -- if it's an object that's flying that can't be identified then its a UFO.
I understand the hoaxes involved in UFO sightings but I would think that considering the enormous size of the universe it is more likely than not that there is life on planets other than our own. To dismiss aliens out of hand as absurd is extremely short-sighted.

Kucinich, you are so witty! Weasel Russert asked you that question because he wanted to deflect attention form the real questions,, such as H.R. 333 to IMPEACH Cheney and all your other great work!
He saw a UFO. . .an object in the sky which he couldn't identify. He did not, on the other hand, see WMDs that were never there. Nor did he lie about it!
Chris is attempting to make an issue out of a non-issue. Kucinich said he saw an object that he could not identify and Richardson said the federal government should not be excessive in the information it classifies -- for some strange reason Matthews finds those comments unreasonable.
That's a bit harsh. Plenty of people have seen UFOs, even pilots and presidents. But how many pilots and presidents have seen virgin births? I think undead miraculously born angel believers should be completely disqualified. They may see things like imaginary WMD and start wars.
It is idiotic to presume that earth science in its current form could ever ascertain the truth behind the existence of UFO's which are apparently the product of either a mass psychosis (which any sane, reasonable person should doubt) or a species which doesn't want to be seen by everyone. Now, don't you think it;s reasonable to assume that a species thousands of years in advance of us could technologically make themselves known to some and not to other's?
The UFO phenomenon should not be the purview of mysticism it should be the purview of science. But for some odd reason over the past century it's been turned into a mystical issue which has credible witnesses portrayed as mentally ill fanatics of some sort. Anyone seriously interested in credibility should read the book 'communion' by whitley strieber.
Strieber had lie detector tests which he passed, had a test for temporal lobe epilepsy, which he did not have. Had a small metallic object removed from his neck which is believed to have been an implant of some kind. All this is documanted both in his books, starting with communion, and in the medical records which aid his credibility.
Furthermore, just considering the vastness of the universe should not beg the question as to whether or not we are alone, since I think it makes it clearly obvious that we're not. This debacle should have ended with the death of ptolemaic thinking, but apparently people still feel the need to artificially push it into the 21st century where it doesn't belong. It's just absurd to consider humanity special, it's as simple as this.
Not intellectual, rational. You do not need to be an intellectual to demand the proof of evidence to support assertions of fact. Where evidence is not available it is not intellectual to be satisfied with "I don't know" rather than choosing to believing in implausible stories based on faith.
To be accurate you need to be agnostic about all things for which there is no evidence for or against. However, there is a scale of likelihood that we can apply based on what we know. I would put unicorns, gods, and ufo's in the extremely unlikely category to the point that for practical purposes I can assume they do not exist.
That's not skepticism that's just mechanical stupidity. I am talking about documented evidence of the fact that whitley strieber had a metallic object removed from his body which is believed to have been a implant, Add to this the fact that scientific evidence validates his 'story' through both MRI scans and lie detector tests and it is clear he experienced something.
The 'evidence' is clear. The 'evidence' is documented. Something has been happening since the 1940s en masse and whatever it is it is at least psychic and probably extraterrestrial in nature. The 'evidence' is all around, the accounts of experiences, the documented lie detector tests, the documented removal of implants, of sightings, of abductions in the tens of thousands is all there. Your mechanical stupidity is also there however.
Yes my scale of likelihood is subjective. I owe it to myself to be agnostic until I have evidence or until someone I can trust claims has evidence sufficient to move me from my extremely unlikely position. I am not as invested in your ideas as you are, I don't have any evidence personally, nor have any of the people or sources I trust advocate your position.
Again, it is not an 'idea' that people have had some type of experience involving alien abduction and/or UFO sightings. How many tens of thousands of people report such sightings and abductions in any 10 year period between 1945 and now? How many documented cases of implant removals and/or probes with devices of some type? How many passed lie detector tests? these are not 'ideas' they are experiences! get that through your head already.
shatnerd if you're not going to make an effort to put these people in their place, step aside and allow someone with more knowledge and will to do so. Thank you.
Believing something on faith is to deny your self any good reason to believe it is true. To have faith is to actively discard the need to search for or require evidence to support a belief in something.
Thousands of other people report similar experiences. Are all of them sharing in a mass psychosis? Where's your evidence to support this claim? And yes, until further notice your false skepticism is merely a semantically constructed claim. You need to learn the difference between a 'belief' in something and documented experiences. Whether or not someone has objective evidence of such experiences (which they actually do) it is still an experience as opposed to a belief.
You obviously hold much 'faith' in earth science and it's ability to ascertain that UFO's are without a shred of doubt a falsehood contrived by human imagination. Not very agnostic in your 'faith' of earth science are you? I call it faith because, as stated earlier, these beings are suppose to possess technology that is thousands of years in advance of our own, which presupposes that they could in fact make themselves known to some of us while choosing not to appear to other's.
You yourself 'believe' in the ability of earth science to make an absolute determination as to the validity, or lack thereof of UFO sightings. This amounts to having 'faith' in a system that currently cannot prove the existence of something. Again, this could very well be because the species we are in contact with are, on average, about 1000 or more years in advance of us technologically to the degree that they can manipulate our perceptions, only allowing some of us to have communication.
I do not have faith in a system, I do however trust the scientific method. A process for which we can systematically determine what is true or not true. It is not infalliable but it has checks and balances and is self correcting over time.
Here's where the 'faith' part comes into the equation. You actually have 'faith' that earth science, in its current form, posseses both the instrumentation and the knowledge base to weed out a species supposedly thousands of years in advance of us. That there is no doubt in your mind that if earth science has detected no such beings they surely must not be. That is called arrogance buddy.
You cannot even call it a lack of evidence since earth science has no method by which to successfully search for UFO's with advanced technology that could elude every type of sensing device hitherto constructed by man.
only if your lazy...another weak and fallacious argument......before technology permitted the analysis of large quantities of data, much of economic theory was accepted on reasoned argument. There was no empirical evidence to confirm the law of demand but that did not stop economists from believing yet continuing the pursuit of confirmation....
The problem we're talking about the difference between earth science and it's current instrumentation and what these beings may be in possession of, which is technology thousands of years in advance of anything we might possess in the near future. All ufologists have at the moment is faith and the circumstantial evidence supported by abductees and lie detector tests, not to mention the implants which have been removed by many of them but are in the possession of who knows who.
TMP and CNN great pair..The US media is a huge fucking joke. They are more like the ! When was the last time you saw an average American on t.v expressing their concerns? 8 years? Now when you see an average American they are used as witnesses to an enquirer like story. SHAME ON THE U.S PROPAGANDA CORPORATE MEDIA!
If you are saying its easier to believe in "space aliens" than MSM scripted modern US democracy I sure know what you mean. Such a shame so many are dying for a taste of it in Iraq then.
55555Both the Dems and Rep are 55555preselected by elites -- our world 55555is governed by a plutocracy. The media 55555is pure propaganda and the people are 55555gullible canonfodder! "we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States" Memoirs p405 --CFR CEO David Rockefeller: CFR: Romney Giuliani Clinton Thompson Edwards Obama Terrorstorm 2h Engdame
First, Jimmy Carter was a weak President. In addition, we are NOT in a war that benefits Iran. Finally, a "discussion" about a UFO or whatever is not a topic to discuss at a debate...then again it's the Democratic Party, so why should I be surprised?
The media is scared of Kucinich so they are trying to make him look crazy. The media in this country is such crap. Keep everyone confused so they can pick the front runner who will support the war and corporations.
Why is everyone laughing? Whatever Hillary was smoking last debate when she thought the war was funny, she apparently shared this week w/ everyone. Alien life in the universe is a scientific question of biology and physics. It either has evolved and exists in other solar systems or it hasn't and doesn't. Why is that funny? I don't get the joke.
I think people are misinterpreting what Russert was doing. I think it's possible that he saw an opening to get UFOs discussed in the political scene. Anyone that doesn't think that disclosure should be a campaign issue, should search out the full version of the Discloure Project on Youtube and watch it.
"The UK Telegraph reports that President Reagan believed he had seen UFOs at least twice -- once on the coast while driving to Hollywood with his wife, Nancy, and once, as governor of California, while flying on a plane near Bakersfield." Gene Byrd National Ledger, 1 Nov 2007.
read brave new world by aldous huxley... awesome book and pretty much the ultimate outcome of all this... and i'm talking about everything thats going on...
our media is such crap... you could spend all day on youtube watching crappy reporting... if they don't think that there is a possiblity of anything ever happening they are nutz
oh man whats going on with Dennis??? I thought he is the only clear thinking candidate of the democrats and now he says he saw an UFO??? sorry, but i can only
I'm glad to see most of the people commenting are not fooled by this obvious sabotage. Even Kucinich was aware what was happening: poor guy had to be honest for his principles but knew that ignorance would be played with.
I want a responce by the K-campaign to nip this in the bud before it conflates everywhere.
He answered in as quick and professional a manner as he could - given another 30 seconds he might have been able to clarify to a degree that would have shamed Russert.
Also - Wake up to what? This non-sequitor confused me.
ok now that Dennis Kucinich outmaneuvered himself out of the presidential race (which is too bad) there is only one serious, trustworthy guy left in the arena:
"Do you believe in UFOs?" .... uh... Yes I do believe you may see something in the sky and not know what is. These people are friggen dumba**es i swear.
are any of you aware that our government of the USA has made a true "film" called "CONTACT" and it is as to this date held as top secret. I was able to view this film and read some of the facts printed from the US Government in a transcript, the Government felt at the time of making this film it would not be a good idea to let the public see it as it may cause panic. So they chose to shelf it for the time beeing.
I don't follow that at all. Hitchens is an alcoholic and a neoconservative. What does that have to do with my comment. And why am I even degrading myself by responding to you?
a loaded question with near immediate twisting and misrepresenting of Kucinich by the press. Quite irresponsible "having fun" with this considering it's a presidential race. It IS fun though..
he didnt say he saw aliens. he said he saw an OBJECT THAT HE COULDNT IDENTIFY! BY DEFINITION THATS A U.F.O.!!! LAY OF THE CONNOTATIONS AND LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE! THIS HAS NUTHIN 2 DO W/ POLITICS!
This has everything to do with politics - it plays on peoples assumptions about UFO's and discussions on UFO's. Its sabotage using the ignorance of the masses as a wrench.
Governor Fife Symington of Arizona made a big joke about the Phoenix lights at the time it happened. After he was out of office he admitted that he had also seen them and thought they were extraterrestrial, but made a joke of it because he didn't want to alarm the public. Kucinich answered TRUTHFULLY, no matter what the political cost, and that should be respected, not ridiculed.
Tim Russert was lousy last night. Whose side is he on? His questions were all "gotcha" questions with odd agendas. He injected himself into the whole debate and it was outrageous. His Iran pledge was ludicrous too. He's a serious journalist? come on.
Seriously, tho. It's stupid to ask someone if they 'believe' in UFOs. If something in the air is unidentified, it's a UFO. Thousands are reported every year. 99.99% turn out to be aircraft or weather anomalies.
It's like asking if you 'believe' that sometimes doctors can't identify a medical problem. Well, yeah, that happens all the time, too.
Not really, he just won the DFA poll and could conceivably win the popular vote in a presidential election if the process wasn't already rigged as the last two presidential elections were. Also, he's been winning all sorts of other polls left and right which indicates that america is desperate for change.
Agreed. People use UFOs reports to ridicule people. During the 80s the Stealth Bomber was classified, so when lots of people reported seeing the batwinged aircraft, they were treated as crackpots by the media and authorities. Now we have the Aurora aircraft that is classified, even though numerous photographs exist of its distinctive comtrail. Experimental military aircraft are often behind UFO sightings.
Agree. I saw one myself once. I was 14 or 15. I told my parents, who laughed - untill the local cop went, deeply disturbed, to my dads clinic the next day and described exactly the same sight. So what are tou to do: Preend you never saw anything - or just stand by, what you know happened - even if people laugh??
Yeah, I saw one in 8th grade and both of my parents together have seen one on two separate occassions while. I might be dismissed as just being a kid, but my parents are quite serious types, my father being one of those guys who prides himself on being able to identify various aircraft in the sky by their outline. Years later, they stand by their story that they saw UFOs.

That's a bit harsh. Plenty of people have seen UFOs, even pilots and presidents. But how many pilots and presidents have seen virgin births? I think undead miraculously born angel believers should be completely disqualified. They may see things like imaginary WMD and start wars.
queny2 4 years ago 6
It is idiotic to presume that earth science in its current form could ever ascertain the truth behind the existence of UFO's which are apparently the product of either a mass psychosis (which any sane, reasonable person should doubt) or a species which doesn't want to be seen by everyone. Now, don't you think it;s reasonable to assume that a species thousands of years in advance of us could technologically make themselves known to some and not to other's?
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
The UFO phenomenon should not be the purview of mysticism it should be the purview of science. But for some odd reason over the past century it's been turned into a mystical issue which has credible witnesses portrayed as mentally ill fanatics of some sort. Anyone seriously interested in credibility should read the book 'communion' by whitley strieber.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
Strieber had lie detector tests which he passed, had a test for temporal lobe epilepsy, which he did not have. Had a small metallic object removed from his neck which is believed to have been an implant of some kind. All this is documanted both in his books, starting with communion, and in the medical records which aid his credibility.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
Furthermore, just considering the vastness of the universe should not beg the question as to whether or not we are alone, since I think it makes it clearly obvious that we're not. This debacle should have ended with the death of ptolemaic thinking, but apparently people still feel the need to artificially push it into the 21st century where it doesn't belong. It's just absurd to consider humanity special, it's as simple as this.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
Sure I am agnostic. But hold more confidence in finding life of the non intelligent kind first.
stratvic 4 years ago
to rely on faith is not to shun reason....your's is the typical rant of the pseudo-intellectual
statnerd52 4 years ago
Not intellectual, rational. You do not need to be an intellectual to demand the proof of evidence to support assertions of fact. Where evidence is not available it is not intellectual to be satisfied with "I don't know" rather than choosing to believing in implausible stories based on faith.
stratvic 4 years ago
well if you're agnostic...fine.....so you say you don't know if unicorns and goblins exist....fine...
statnerd52 4 years ago
To be accurate you need to be agnostic about all things for which there is no evidence for or against. However, there is a scale of likelihood that we can apply based on what we know. I would put unicorns, gods, and ufo's in the extremely unlikely category to the point that for practical purposes I can assume they do not exist.
stratvic 4 years ago
That's not skepticism that's just mechanical stupidity. I am talking about documented evidence of the fact that whitley strieber had a metallic object removed from his body which is believed to have been a implant, Add to this the fact that scientific evidence validates his 'story' through both MRI scans and lie detector tests and it is clear he experienced something.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
The 'evidence' is clear. The 'evidence' is documented. Something has been happening since the 1940s en masse and whatever it is it is at least psychic and probably extraterrestrial in nature. The 'evidence' is all around, the accounts of experiences, the documented lie detector tests, the documented removal of implants, of sightings, of abductions in the tens of thousands is all there. Your mechanical stupidity is also there however.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
the problem is your "scale of likelihood" is subjective not objective....
statnerd52 4 years ago
Yes my scale of likelihood is subjective. I owe it to myself to be agnostic until I have evidence or until someone I can trust claims has evidence sufficient to move me from my extremely unlikely position. I am not as invested in your ideas as you are, I don't have any evidence personally, nor have any of the people or sources I trust advocate your position.
stratvic 4 years ago
Again, it is not an 'idea' that people have had some type of experience involving alien abduction and/or UFO sightings. How many tens of thousands of people report such sightings and abductions in any 10 year period between 1945 and now? How many documented cases of implant removals and/or probes with devices of some type? How many passed lie detector tests? these are not 'ideas' they are experiences! get that through your head already.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
shatnerd if you're not going to make an effort to put these people in their place, step aside and allow someone with more knowledge and will to do so. Thank you.

DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
my interaction was motivated on the equating of religious belief as irrational....a side point to be true but I wasn't commenting on UFO's
statnerd52 4 years ago
Believing something on faith is to deny your self any good reason to believe it is true. To have faith is to actively discard the need to search for or require evidence to support a belief in something.
stratvic 4 years ago
Thousands of other people report similar experiences. Are all of them sharing in a mass psychosis? Where's your evidence to support this claim? And yes, until further notice your false skepticism is merely a semantically constructed claim. You need to learn the difference between a 'belief' in something and documented experiences. Whether or not someone has objective evidence of such experiences (which they actually do) it is still an experience as opposed to a belief.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
You obviously hold much 'faith' in earth science and it's ability to ascertain that UFO's are without a shred of doubt a falsehood contrived by human imagination. Not very agnostic in your 'faith' of earth science are you? I call it faith because, as stated earlier, these beings are suppose to possess technology that is thousands of years in advance of our own, which presupposes that they could in fact make themselves known to some of us while choosing not to appear to other's.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
You yourself 'believe' in the ability of earth science to make an absolute determination as to the validity, or lack thereof of UFO sightings. This amounts to having 'faith' in a system that currently cannot prove the existence of something. Again, this could very well be because the species we are in contact with are, on average, about 1000 or more years in advance of us technologically to the degree that they can manipulate our perceptions, only allowing some of us to have communication.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
I do not have faith in a system, I do however trust the scientific method. A process for which we can systematically determine what is true or not true. It is not infalliable but it has checks and balances and is self correcting over time.
stratvic 4 years ago
Here's where the 'faith' part comes into the equation. You actually have 'faith' that earth science, in its current form, posseses both the instrumentation and the knowledge base to weed out a species supposedly thousands of years in advance of us. That there is no doubt in your mind that if earth science has detected no such beings they surely must not be. That is called arrogance buddy.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
You cannot even call it a lack of evidence since earth science has no method by which to successfully search for UFO's with advanced technology that could elude every type of sensing device hitherto constructed by man.
DoctorSensitive 4 years ago
Correct hence ... agnostic.
stratvic 4 years ago
only if your lazy...another weak and fallacious argument......before technology permitted the analysis of large quantities of data, much of economic theory was accepted on reasoned argument. There was no empirical evidence to confirm the law of demand but that did not stop economists from believing yet continuing the pursuit of confirmation....
statnerd52 4 years ago
The problem we're talking about the difference between earth science and it's current instrumentation and what these beings may be in possession of, which is technology thousands of years in advance of anything we might possess in the near future. All ufologists have at the moment is faith and the circumstantial evidence supported by abductees and lie detector tests, not to mention the implants which have been removed by many of them but are in the possession of who knows who.

There is some precedence here. Jimmy Carter saw a UFO in 1969 and was elected anyway. Whether this was good or bad, you decide.
As for absurdity, Which is more absurd: UFO sightings, or building a wall to keep out Mexicans, or fighting a war that mostly benefits Iran?
MMS747 4 years ago 2
First, Jimmy Carter was a weak President. In addition, we are NOT in a war that benefits Iran. Finally, a "discussion" about a UFO or whatever is not a topic to discuss at a debate...then again it's the Democratic Party, so why should I be surprised?

I think people are misinterpreting what Russert was doing. I think it's possible that he saw an opening to get UFOs discussed in the political scene. Governor Fife Symington of Arizona made a big joke about the Phoenix lights at the time it happened. After he was out of office he admitted that he had also seen them and thought they were extraterrestrial, but made a joke of it because he didn't want to alarm the public.

DoctorSensitive 4 years ago 2
Nothing wrong with spotting UFO's, doesn't mean you believe alien space craft are abducting people and giving them anal probes.
A lot of the time they are military Aircraft.
puretroubleman 4 years ago 8
Experimental military aircraft are often behind UFO sightings.
dafttool 4 years ago 5
Agree. I saw one myself once. I was 14 or 15. I told my parents, who laughed - untill the local cop went, deeply disturbed, to my dads clinic the next day and described exactly the same sight. So what are tou to do: Preend you never saw anything - or just stand by, what you know happened - even if people laugh??
victor190779 4 years ago 3
Yeah, I saw one in 8th grade and both of my parents together have seen one on two separate occassions while. I might be dismissed as just being a kid, but my parents are quite serious types, my father being one of those guys who prides himself on being able to identify various aircraft in the sky by their outline. Years later, they stand by their story that they saw UFOs.
