the thing about Connery/Brosnan/ Moore vs Craig is that They (C/B/M) play a well sophisticated, very suave, refined Bond. Whereas Craig plays a younger, more arrogant Bond. and he (Craig) does a good job at it. And lets face the facts, the stunts that Craig pulls off would not be believable if C/B/M were to do them. Craig is more of an action-hero of today.

Sean Connery was smooth as silk, but you have to understand that Daniel Craig's acting was according to his director. He was supposed to act the young James Bond who is still just a killer, and turning into the spy. And in terms of that he did a good job. He made Bond look more raw and bad-ass. I respect that. I think that later on he will shape up to be like Sean.
P.S. after all Casino Royale was not as good as From Russia With Love, but it's right up there.
Now that being said I dont think any of the James Bond actors are bad, and Pierce is one of my favorite actors in his other movies but outside of Goldeneye his Bond movies were shit, and I don't think it was his fault.
The original and hands down the best Bond, period. Craig is great, but still has 3 more movies to go. Let's wait and see if he will succeed in turning into one of the best Bonds ever.
Connery is THE man as the Bond character. He's dark, cold and has sarcasm in his look and demeanor! Imagine had he stuck around to play in On Her Majesty's Secret Service with Diana Rigg? His charm with Rigg's rigor? Wow!
I hope they make a remake of that movie with Craig. They need to keep the same script (and words) and plot. Too bad Mr. Savalas is no longer with us to play Blowfeld.
I'm not a fan of the shot from NSNA. It's too much of a close up and makes Conery look odd, especially the way he's squeezed between the machines and leaning down. He doesn't appear powerful.

I think he looks great in the shot, and his delivery is simple and sincere, playing the scene.(apologizing) I wish it didn't have the video game sound in the background. Too bad they didn't approach Spielberg to direct, because it was his wish to direct Connery as Bond. (He directed "Raiders of the Lost Ark" instead)
@Zacatown I agree; the video games are highly annoying and from what I remember, there are only two games ithat make up the dozens in the room (Centipede and another I don't recall). Although, I like most of the directing work in NSNA. Kershner also directed ESB, my favorite of the Star Wars films.

Sean Connery was smooth as silk, but you have to understand that Daniel Craig's acting was according to his director. He was supposed to act the young James Bond who is still just a killer, and turning into the spy. And in terms of that he did a good job. He made Bond look more raw and bad-ass. I respect that. I think that later on he will shape up to be like Sean.
P.S. after all Casino Royale was not as good as From Russia With Love, but it's right up there.

The original and hands down the best Bond, period. Craig is great, but still has 3 more movies to go. Let's wait and see if he will succeed in turning into one of the best Bonds ever.

Connery is THE man as the Bond character. He's dark, cold and has sarcasm in his look and demeanor! Imagine had he stuck around to play in On Her Majesty's Secret Service with Diana Rigg? His charm with Rigg's rigor? Wow!
I hope they make a remake of that movie with Craig. They need to keep the same script (and words) and plot. Too bad Mr. Savalas is no longer with us to play Blowfeld.

I'm not a fan of the shot from NSNA. It's too much of a close up and makes Conery look odd, especially the way he's squeezed between the machines and leaning down. He doesn't appear powerful.

@jksonny Interesting observation about the composition. I think he looks great in the shot, and his delivery is simple and sincere, playing the scene.(apologizing) I wish it didn't have the video game sound in the background. Too bad they didn't approach Spielberg to direct, because it was his wish to direct Connery as Bond. (He directed "Raiders of the Lost Ark" instead)

@Zacatown I agree; the video games are highly annoying and from what I remember, there are only two games ithat make up the dozens in the room (Centipede and another I don't recall). Although, I like most of the directing work in NSNA. Kershner also directed ESB, my favorite of the Star Wars films.
Supposedly, Lucas and Spielberg were talking about how they each would like to direct a Bond and Lucas mentioned his idea for what became Indiana Jones.

Connery and how he looks up at 0:03 while lighting that cigarette, that one shot is probably what all the other Bonds had to try and duplicate during their auditions. Even the ones who were hand picked because someone already liked them, you just know there was a moment, even behind closed doors, where somebody said, "Just so we're sure, here's a cigarette, light it up and say the name."

Desperate ass Feldman, just cuz Albert & Harry decline to do it, he makes it a comedy shame on him for that one. I don't like to disrespect the died, but c'mon, that shit was wack.

I don't disagree BUT the 1967 Casino Royale has the distinction of costarring TERENCE COOPER, who was a FANTASTIC James Bond, even if it was in a spoof. Broccoli and Saltzman should have seriously considered him as a replacement for Connery.

How can anyone even consider the '54 or the '67 CR part of the official JB movies? The '54 one wasn't even a movie + it wasn't tru to the actual character of JB or the characters of the story. Now for the '67 one, it was a comedy, a spoof, making fun of JB. Also, it wasn't tru to the intial story or characters. Feldman is wack for that one!!

This new guy Daniel Craig is a joke compared to connery or even the latest bond before him, pierce brosnan. Brosnan was a pretty good bond himself; he has the humour, charm, and was able to kill guys also. Daniel Craig is not charming, does not have wit, and does not portray the character the way it is supposed to be played.

@tastybrownies I personally don't believe that women would want to go to bed with Craig. I've been told by women that he has the requisite sex appeal but I personally don't see it. And sex appeal is key to James Bond, as Raymond Chandler said, Bond is what men want to be and what women want to have between their sheets.
