@skycaprob False. Atmosphere has little to do with it. Hyperdrives will not work within a gravity past a certain level of mass. Which is why ships don't jump to hyerspace while still within a planets atmosphere. You must first be in at least a very high orbit before you can even consider making the jump to hyperspace.

@skycaprob As noted, it's the gravity well that affects a hyperdrive (ergo, Interdictor Cruisers). So it is a technical-continuity issue, but not the one you thought. (Also, is it just me or do the depictions of in-hyperspace travel make SW hyperspace now look very much like Stargate's?)
