The diff b/w bound and unbound chemicals can be illustrated by an analogy. Elemental hydrogen is an explosive gas. Elemental oxygen is a gas that supports combustion. When combined, however, they form water, which has neither of these effects. The types of chemical bonds in water and amalgam differ, but saying that amalgam will poison you is just as wrong as saying that drinking water will make you explode and burst into flames.
Old school!!!! Lmao gloves lol! 4 handed dentistry means one lazy ass dentist. If that was my dentist I'd tell him to quit bein a lazy ass mother!!!!! Hah
@iabsoriw433 because amalgam is proven effective; it is much longer lasting than composite, doesn't shrink (like composite) and is more cost-effective for the patient.
@actuashley Yet amalgams (aka mercury fillings) also have many harmful health effects. After the amalgam is placed on the tooth, mercury from the amalgam vaporizes and transfers throughout the body. The mercury builds up in the brain, kidney, and other vital tissues. After periodic (depending on the person) exposure to mercury the person will experience psychological/behavioral disturbances, memory loss, mood swings, etc. Long term leads to slow reaction times and inability to fulfill tasks.
@actuashley Would you take these health risks to save 30$ on a mercury filling? Please reconsider your support for detrimental silver/mercury fillings.
@MercuryFreeDentistry If amalgam fillings were TRULY as bad as some skeptics claim, they wouldn't be used in any practice at all. Amalgam would not be allowed to be manufactured and suppliers wouldn't sell it. Fact is, they still do. (Obviously) Amalgam does contain mercury, yes, BUT if you know anything about chemistry you would understand that once these substances come together to form the amalgam, the mercury atoms cannot simply come apart to "leak" into the oral cavity.
@actuashley That's like saying just because something is unhealthy, corporations would not sell it. That is totally untrue. Big businesses sell tobacco/cigarettes, soda, fast food, and other goods that can eventually contribute to your death if taken in excess. Humans will ignore the fact that they are potentially killing someone to make a buck. Secondly, you are correct; amalgam does not "leak". Yet, since the mouth is an area with so much activity (chewing, grinding, etc) f
@actuashley Secondly, you are correct; amalgam does not "leak". Yet, since the mouth is an area with so much activity (chewing, grinding, etc) miniature tears, breaks, etc will occur in the silver filling. Thus, the amalgam will "escape". Producers that supply dentists with amalgams will fight hard to preserve their product in the market. Btw, don't accuse me of being liberal, I am for a free market. Businesses can do what they want. I am only informing people/consumers of the truth.
@MercuryFreeDentistry But you aren't informing people of the truth. You are correct in saying that MERCURY can cause serious side effects, but AMALGAM is not mercury. It is a compound and in its compounded form, cannot be altered. So, silver fillings do NOT cause memory loss, mood swings, or psychological problems. You really need to stop "Orson Welles-ing" people.
@actuashley We both definitely agree on the fact that mercury is harmful and I acknowledged that in my previous comment. I also previously said, "since the mouth is an area with so much activity (chewing, grinding, etc) miniature tears, breaks, etc will occur in the silver filling. Thus, the amalgam will 'escape'." Please excuse me when I said, "the amalgam will escape." I meant to say that the mercury would escape. Therefore, OBVIOUSLY mercury is dangerous, and amalgams in themselves are not.
BUT, mercury will not leak. It will escape because of the breaks in the amalgam due to the high activity in the mouth! Therefore, when amalgams are placed in the mouth it is easy for people to be exposed to mercury after long periods of time. Don't take my word for it! ask older people (because younger people do not realize the effects yet) if they regret getting amalgams so you cannot say that I am "Orson Welles-ing" people.
First - The air date of the video is right below in the description , so stop guessing.
Second - I always wear glovesq but my father who`s also a dentist seldom does he`s like old school (here in Bulgaria we don`t have a law/regulations that say it`s mandatory to wear gloves fo simple dental procedures)
Third - the assistant is skilled and hot I would hire her right away :)

This video was made in the 1970's or early 80's, before OSHA. I remember as a child going to the dentist to get fillings in my mouth and no one had on gloves. Thank GOD times have changed.
@thedarkone123123 normally they dont apply gloves in textbooks and education videos so that u can see their fingers closely and see how they manipulate and deal with instruments, got it?
Wow... and just the other day I got an email saying we weren't allowed to wear name badges for cross contamination reasons... (I don't wear one anyway but know people who do...) ....And the amount of times I change my gloves throughout a single treatment.... And they aren't wearing anything???!?!?!?! Where's the face masks?? Gloves??? Ha health and safety would have a field day.
So......this is really at a dental office and that guy had alot of pacience w/the assistant when she didnt know her tools....I doubt it's still like this or that their that friendly.
wow she... got really short skirt..

@actuashley Amalgam fillings caused Periodontal disease in a close friends mouth. NOT WORTH IT!
iabsoriw433 7 months ago
@iabsoriw433 Amalgam cannot cause periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is a GUM disease which is caused by not brushing and flossing properly.
