Optimus is the one who said "arise, Rodimus Prime" in the movie, so if anyone should recognize Rodimus Prime, it's him.

And regarding Galvatron, in a more practical sense, there's a scene break between Optimus Prime being activated and the Autobots traveling to Chaar and locating Galvatron. Surely Galvatron must have come up at some point between "so, how you guys been?" and "ah, we're here".

@MoonKnightMovies it could be asumed the autobots briefed him of screen, its only a half hour show, it has flaws but this was the early days before transformers and before it was really huge and before it had an adult following of any magnitude. use imagination and enjoy the show, i think it ads more mystery to it, rather than having every detail spoon fed i prefer it. a show that you could argue appeals to the inteligence of us and adds dimention

@MoonKnightMovies To be fair, Optimus Prime already came back once - in 'Dark Awakening'. And in that episode, he does meet Rodimus who also morphs back and forth between Hot Rod too. So he knows who Rodimus Prime is. And as Aeon pointed out, Optimus does 'talk to' Roddy in The Movie. :)

Galvatron... well, again, Optimus was on the prowl during 'Dark Awakening' - he even resumes control of the Autobots. He could have found out Gal was formerly Meggy and that explains that.

@jediMasterCRAZY Depending on who you ask, it gets shunted into subspace or it's composed of disappearium, which has properties that allow it to become invisible.

The real answer of course is that it goes nowhere; as a cartoon, they're not bound by the rules of physics (or logic) and can use as many animation cheats as they like. Like, not drawing it. They use the same cheat for members of the various missions. You might only see 4 Autobots head out, yet others appear at the destination.

Optimus was just brought back from death, where he had joined with the omniscient wisdom of the Matrix. He was "present" for Hot Rod's upgrade during the Movie.

In a more practical sense, there was plenty of time for the Autobots to fill him in. You'd think in all of the catching up, one of them would have said "hey just bee-tee-double-you, Megatron's now Galvatron. He's purple and batshit crazy."

The theory is that the plague didn't just induce random madness but also amplified existing hate as well. Most of the Cons hated Galvatron already so they all ganged up on him. The combiners were closer to each other so they'd gang up on everyone else.

Galvatron previously being Megatron isn't a secret. Astrotrain says "well, they were the same guy" in Five Faces of Darkness. So, regardless of the debate about how much of Megatron remains, they all seem to be aware one was forged from the other. Starscream certainly knew/found out. One imagines the news found its way to the Matrix.

One thing that got me, is how Jessica, a human (although infected), managed to get from Charr, a distant planet ruled by Decepticons, to Russia. You'd think none of the infected TFs would have cared enough to transport her anywhere.
