  • really good,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • THIS IS REALLY SOME BLUE BLUE BLUES.

  • is there a tab for this??? because i really want one. these licks are fuckin killer

  • Really like this, reminds me alot of the stuff clapton did and also some bb king in there. Impressive!

  • Simply it's the blues... the spirit of improvisations

  • i love your bends

  • sounds good!

  • Sounds great Robert!! -Billy

  • Rock On! Nice playing.

  • man, you rock! great sound, and solo.

  • Another great peice from the all mighty Rotren. I love playing in Ab, but in standard tunning not Eb. If you ever play in a church that plays gospel music you will be playing in many keys guitarists don't like. Such as Ab in standard tunning.

  • Great guitar playing!

  • wow are you touring?

  • Your tone is SWEET!!!

  • awesome

  • Nice job, Robert.

  • That`s really great!!! :-) very good feelin`

  • Excellent playing!

  • do you have any recommendations to get that creamy guitar tone?

  • I think breaking down this solo by the technique, scales, and thought process would be a HUGE help to me and many other beginning guitarists who just aren't there solo-wise. Just a suggestion, but you'd be helping out a lot of people :]

  • Awesome!

  • i want dat backing track :) where can i get one like dat?

  • get jamey abersold playalongs, theres lots of cds he put out. one is called 'nothing but blues'

  • Very nice Rob! I have been playing for for the better part of 33+ years (although I was without a guitar for 2 1/2 years until last April). I practiced for 8-15 hours a day until I was in my mid-20's. You do a fine job, compadre! You have a nice touch, and your phrasing is very impressive. Keep the faith!

  • im your fan now!! from philippines

  • Amazing as always !

  • hey rob how long did it take you to get that good? how many hours a day did you practice and for how many years?

  • Thank you all for the nice comments. I practiced a lot (3-4 hours per day) when I was 14 to 20 years old, and I am now turning 40.

  • I had to split this into two parts, but here goes:

Hello Robert, greets from Denmark! :)

I'm very interested in your videos, I love them!

I've been playing guitar for about three years now, and I want to get better at playing solos. I haven't had any lessons but I've been looking into different scales and such, mostly pentatonic scales.

What would you recommend practicing when you want to learn to improvise solos?

  • @nicklassayshi Hi, practice transcribing licks, solos, chords, whatever from other players! That's the best way to learn and improve.

  • Second part:

And one other thing: when I'm doing solos I find it hard to go from the thinner strings and up to the thicker strings fast. It's much easier to get down fast from the thickest strings to the thinner ones. What can I practice to get faster at shifting from the thinner strings to the thicker ones, if you know what I mean? I could explain it in norwegian if you'd like ;)

    Hei og takk!

  • Try a string lubricant like 'finger-ease', maybe you're sticking a bit. Other than that, check that your left hand grip isnt too tight, drop your wrist a bit, maybe even force yourself to wear or sit the guitar a bit higher. Then...just practice away!

  • Sorry, I meant swedish! Although I was sure you were from Norway :D

  • i thought the same thing. they do sound very similar. but im american, so of course they would.

  • wow dude your so cool! thanks

  • @rotren ...just got goose bumps!!!!!!

  • @rotren Hi I want to say thanks for the great lessons....When you bent your high Ab up to a B and let her back down ,that made me smile ear to ear.....Thanks again!!!!!!!

  • @rotren Is it possible for someone like me in their 30s to learn guitar successfully?... i always wanted to learn but only recently have i been able to finally attain a stater electric and a good amp.

  • @bigboi71 Hi, of course! It is never too late to learn how to play. If you put in the work, it will pay off.

  • @rotren thank you sir.

  • Nice Robert!

  • Can He Par With Jimmy page?

  • Robert, awesome tone great feeling, well done!!

  • VERY SWEET!!!! THANK YOU

  • Nice fat sound on that strat. Well done, as always.

  • Very nice playing. Very clapton-ish sound.

Still not enough power to drive those speakers. The Mack would sound great with a sensitive 10" speaker. Moving some air with 12's requires some headroom though. It sure sounds great but the mass of the speakers prevents some additional harmonics from being heard...

  • Robert Robert I'm blown away. great job brother

  • SWEET! Really enjoying these vids and learning a lot. Cheers!

  • I hear some Joe Bonamassa in all those bends! Keep up the great videos Robert.

  • Man i have to learn to play like that...i can play solos from Marty Friedman but blues it's just not my thing...guess ill practice more blue xD

  • greatest Ab solo in a long time!

  • Pretty epic. I'm going to go try and play it now.

  • I would really like to see and hear you on a SRV type full rig some time. You have a great gift, keep the videos coming my friend

  • man those bends are way too awesome!
