i played this game on my fathers comodore... think it was in 1997 or like... was 6 jears old at this time... this game was one of the best games on the c64! rags to riches and ghostbusters!
i played this game religiously, that stay puff in the end was allways tuff to get by.. jumping was so eratic. anyway i remember loving this game.. i dont remember sound. but i may not have had speakers...
I used to spend hours on this game just working out what the fuck to do. There was a picture on the back of the box showing Zuul standing before the gates of hell... never actually saw that. The top of the range car also remained elusive. Utterly wretched.
Now that was a cool game! I have never managed to understand how to stop the big white ghost (forgot the name of the guy ;) ) and what was with that 'city's pk energy', not to mention how to get more cash for better car and equipment. Anyway, always enjoyed catching some ghosts :D !
The big white ghost is the Marshmallow Man, and you need the Ghost Bait to stop him (hit B when he appears). The city's PK energy rises by 1 for each ghost that reaches Zuul - drive over the ghosts with the icon on the map, then use the ghost vacuum on the car to catch the frozen ghosts while driving to an alert...
I remember this game on NES. Good stuff. But, I COULDN'T beat it, EVER... ;-; Damn the NES version as it had a fuel meter. When empty, you MUST refil. >< This version seems much nicer. Also, I believe in the NES version, if SPMM (Marshmallow Man) appeared, the game was automatically ended. But, I thought this game was pretty cool, nonetheless. I also keep cracking up at the "Ghostbusters" line! It's TOO rich!
If I remember rightly, one of the first games to have level codes to input. You got a code at the end of playing to get more money and stuff next time you played.
Used to love this as a kid, also. Despite looking at it now and seeing how it'd bore me to tears, back then used to love driving about trying to get the ghosties, and the "He slimed me!" speech if you failed. Also, getting two people to get past the marshmallow man at the end, found it tough back then ;)
It's so sad for every fan that never a realy good GB-Game came out! So we all played (or playing) those wannabe GB-Games. Today we have the technic, why don't any Software-Company release a good one???
If you don't trap the ghosts, they get to ZUUL and add to the PK meter. Which you want to happen anyway, as the best money comes from baiting the marshmallow man...!
what a piece of shit, the guy that says "ghostbusters" sounds as if he has bugs in his mouth, and that sound when it says somethings is as if someone is tapping on my brain, I can't stand that annoying shit. -_-
OMG i'm in love with you (in a hetrosexual way) I had this game and this takes me back...never could finish it though...damn this game and the Smurfs one....love/hate is a fine line
Hey, theres a mangled rubber chicken on the hood of your car. Lol, I love that line from the Angry Video Game Nerd. I do love that you can buy a VW beetle though, thats pretty cool.
What kind of crack are you guys smoking? This is one of the worst video games ever made. Seriously when you imagined a Ghostbusters video game, did you really envision it like this? No you imagined being assigned to stranger's houses, ripping everything apart until the ghost was caught.
You never played the game did you? It was fun a game. FPS did come around until like 8 years later, so no. We didn't think about running around ripping everything apart.
I didn't imagine a Ghostbusters game being a FPS then and I don't want one now. And yes I did play this game many many times. Not the NES version but the actual C64 original. I always played it as a kid and I wanted a Ghostbusters game so I just played around with what I got. But looking back on my memories without rose tinted glasses I have to admit how terrible this game is.
I mean it literally when I say the creators of this game didn't want you to have fun. They wanted you to be challenged in their own messed up business sim that can't qualify as a Ghostbusters game.
On the spectrum version if you went to the places that light up when you move past them and there were no gohsts, if you kept going back after a couple of tries a ghost would actually appear, even though the place wasn't flashing red. :)
this game is at least 20 years old. You need an emulator to run it. The one I use is a commodore 64 emulator that runs on XP. They are usually free and for several old systems(c64,n64,super nintendo, virtual boy).
i think it's a cool game i would like to buy it but i don't know if my pc is powerful enough . can anybody please tell me if you think an amd athlon 1300 processor, 512 ram memory and nvidia geforce 2 video card are enough to make this game running ?

And.. as we all know, that is not a `63 Cadillac hearse. It's the 1959 model. Other known `59 Caddilac was used in the movie "The Deer Hunter".

On the contrary... the Commodore version really kics arse! The NES is very similiar but, damn... it lacks colour, everything is so grey and gloomy.

And the Angry Videogame Nerd has shown us that the NES version simply sucks. C64 FTW! :)
