I'm somewhat a fan of New Complexity music, but this is low-quality. It sounds like an aped version of Stockhausen's Klavierstucke (title and all) but without the contrasts. I can understand the philosophy of ridiculous notation, but when that notation fails to produce anything sonically interesting I lose respect for the composer.
I can never understand why people who don't like modern music bother to come aboard and comment on it. though I'm a professional musician I don't understand two notes of this, have no clue about the structure, and certainly don't have much idea why it's so difficult to perform (apart the fact it seems to always be spread out over the entire keyboard). But not understanding it frees me to listen and enjoy the music without analyzing, and it find this to be quite lovely. Thanks for sharing!
If they belittle it, they can convince themselves they don't have to bother regarding it, because the latter is much more work. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it; if you want to take a closer look at why performance of it is so impossible, there are links to sheet music excerpts I posted on a forum in the description of the video. Pretty scary stuff.
It would be interesting to know what is behind this piece. Is it just one of hardest piece ever written because of weird tempos, nuances, big jumps and rests? If there is intellectual idea behind this I would like to hear it.
That was kind of... odd. The first 40 seconds or so had me wondering how many times the guy had practiced, but the asymmetry of it really is kind of intriguing, though ridiculously strange. Reminds me of the Loony Tunes music when Bugs Bunny is twisting his ears up and making weird faces. Yeesh, I just got to 2:02 and my cat bit me. LOL! Unfortunately, I can't quiiiite justify this being called music. It's just random notes... I'm not entirely certain I'd want to have this played at my wedding..
I am in regular contact with Gordon so I know a bit about his music, aesthetic stance and the political aspects of his works. RicAbapo, it is notated 'properly' as there is no other way of realizing the piece without this notation. "He argues that his mode of notation, for example, opposes reification by presenting the performer with cognitive and interpretative obstacles." (Weekly Worker) Without a rigorous aesthetic stance you get Alex Prior, who I'm presuming you like?
Do you really think that idiot is going to be able to understand that the result of a performance and the form of notation have anything to do with each other?
in the first place, is this music anyway? it was like some chil pressing the piano, gosh, i think this piece is just made for the sake of making a "hard piece" though if it was just notated properly, it would just be a piece of cake, gosh, people are now so desperate of making names themselves...it's okay as long as it makes sense...tsk tsk//how about this one?don't think so...
Doesn't that make your comment useless? Your comment is like an ape pressing keys on a computer keyboard, is notated improperly (horrible grammar) and thus makes no sense. Therefore, your comment is self-contradictory and thus has no bearing, leaving posit for the piece of music. Thanks for enjoying it via your stupidity.
Aesthetically too hard for me right now, and the score is even worse in that respect.
You mentioned this is likely the hardest piece in the world, and I'm pretty curious as for the rest of your list. Does it surpass anything by Finnissy or Xenakis?
Holy nonsense that sheet music is intense. I don't really understand any of the musicality behind this, but MAJOR props for physically being able to decipher it.
I mean for fuck's sake I can barely read anything that's not strait 16th notes. (Hyperbole)

I should of taken 'in the first place, is this music anyway?' as a sign! Perhaps if he did some research before making comments

Can someone explain me the meaning of this piece? I can't find any emotions or goal to this...
It may be one of the most difficult piece ever but it's also one of the most emptiest, on an artistical point of wiew, ever made.
So except if someone can made me understand this piece, I won't see it as the most difficult piece ever made but one of the most horrible ever made
