  • Hi Katie, Thanks again for your wonderful recommendations,I Went a little Christmas Crazy on Amazon and ordered this one blind ,for great price ,actually it was dirt cheap ! and I must say it smells like a Million Dollars ! I am Loving it,Smells Niche like!, for utter pittances, and that in my book makes it smell all the better! Happy Holidays!

  • @ITcanB So glad it hit the spot. Getting a cheapie that smells good is a nice surprise.

  • Something really weird happened when i sprayed this thing over me, i had a disastrous allergy, my blood pressure went up although i didn't know cause i have normal BP, but I felt fuzzy and weird so went into a pharmacy to check my blood pressure right after i wore this perfume and was very high, went to E.R. and they gave me an anti histamine and something to lower my blood pressure i guess, one thing to tell, this perfume smells sickly sweet and i guess that it's cheap...

  • @roamingsoul80 Wow! What an unpleasant experience. So glad you're better now.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells

Not that i don't like gap, no , I do like it, but this perfume just didn't do it for me :S

  • Oooo, new subbie. Love the vid. I just smelt this in the store and by the time i came home i had decided that I LOVE it!

  • @enigmaticfille Welcome, freshly unpacked subbie! Glad you found this...it's been phased out since I posted this review.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells ah. It's there all over india and the UK i believe?!

  • @enigmaticfille So interesting!

  • You are awesome, Katie, who in the world knows Sparks and perfume, together. The rebirth of true cool.

  • @christialle All hail Sparks!

  • I want her!

  • love. you.

  • thank. you.

  • ..could you be a little cuter?

  • Not without breaking the cute-o-meter.

  • @Prophecy23JC She's beautiful, no? Her wit heats her beauty from cute to gorgeous.

  • @PandoraKyss Indeed

  • Hey Katie! I just bought the Lover by Gap and I love it! You're right, there is an initial chemically note to it, which on my skin kinda lingers for an hour. But it dries down to this gorgeous incense-y, fruity, sweet earthiness! Is this really being discontinued? Cause I bought it on sale. 50% off! Thanks Katie!

  • I'm glad you like this as much as I do. I agree with your description. It looks like this line (The Individuals) is being discontinued by Gap. Shame - I thought it was an ambitious line for a chain store.

  • you are so articulate! It is hard to describe smells but you're so good at it! Thanks for the reviews!

  • You're so welcome!

  • I tried and bought this today on your reccomendation. I've already gotten compliments!

  • That's great to hear! Thanks for letting me know.

  • i love your reviews. Can you please tell me where you got the necklace you are wearing in this video.

  • Thanks, bobbigirl! I got that necklace years back at Barney's New York. But I have others in that style that from small local boutiques that make their own jewelry. I bet you could find something similar online at etsy.

  • I didn't quite enjoy The Lover as much as The Original from this series by Gap. It appears that they've recently decided to discontinue this and it's been on sale for $14.99 So, if there's anyone who loves this, it's a good time to stock up.

  • The Original is a goody, too! I'm annoyed that Gap is discontinuing this line, because it really was an attempt to bring more challenging, niche-style blends to an affordable price point. But I guess people shopping at the Gap aren't looking for anything other than the cozy musks the store usually carries.

  • Haha, I've never heard that one before! Great videos, Katie! I love how you tell about perfumes without making it boring- love the humor!!! there are so many things you can do with perfumes and i see you do so many of them!!!

  • Thanks, Bonnergurl! Perfumes really inspire me.

  • your voice is so melodic, i could listen to you describing the smell of rotting eggs with a smile on my face

  • Ha! Thx!

  • Thanks for the wonderful review! I'll definitely check this fragrance out! Hopefully it's available here in the Philippines. I LOVE the idea of "Your-Skin-But-Better" Scents! Do you have any other recommendations that also fit the bill? I love your channel!

    =)

  • Thanks for the props, Brian! The following are mmmm-y, skin-enhancing musks, ambers and sandalwood. Buy them online for deep discounts, and go to my blog, KatiePuckrikSmells dot c o m for money off coupon codes. My recommendations are in the next box

  • Etro Sandalo (creamy sandalwood)

Kenzo Power (light ambery woods with florals)

Prada Amber Pour Homme (soft, clean, slightly soapy)

Bulgari Black (smoky vanilla & leather)

L'Artisan Parfumer Mûre et Musc Extrême (sensual musk & light blackberry freshness)

Serge Lutens Daim Blond (apricot & suede, the expensive/more refined version of Gap The Lover)

  • Thank you Katie! =D I haven't had the chance to check out The Lover by the Gap though... So that's my pending sniff trip. I'll go out and smell my way through these other ones too! I must say I've been interested in Bulgari Black for some time now. Thanks again!

  • Always happy to play matchmaker with you and your next favorite scent in the world.

  • Hey Katie! I just bought Bulgari Black and it is a gorgeous scent! It's yummy, sweet and smells weirdly like rubber, which I really dig! I read some review somewhere that they've stopped selling this at stores... Is that true? I hope they never discontinue this! Thanks for the tip Katie!

  • So happy you're happy, cuz BB is a great one! I'm still seeing it in the stores, so I hope it's not being phased out. It really is one in a million!

  • I just have one question to ask. Is shaking the perfume bottle (with perfume inside) good for the perfume? Or is it bad?

  • Shaking the perfume bottle doesn't affect the juice inside for good or for bad. The one exception might be natural fragrance oils, where it might actually help to shake the bottle to redistribute the fragrance in the carrying oil. But the kind of mass-market fragrances you find in department stores or Sephora are fully integrated, and don't need to be shaken to stay mixed.

  • Katie I have a question... why perfumes??

  • Perfumes are one-size-fits-all, portable works of art that uplift our spirit, comfort us and allow us to dream. So much magic in one little bottle!

  • Katie you are beautiful.

  • That's so nice to hear - thanks!

  • Katie is truly beautiful- inside & out!

  • iv never seen reviews this short but thats all you need you get to the point and do more then other reviewers your greatkeep it up

  • Thanks! I like to keep it short'n'sassy...like me!

  • do you write a script for what your going to say in this or something? because its very clever and i dont think i could think of that stuff to put together on the moment. and i love improv!

  • I do write a script, which is the product of hours of testing, research and visualizing ways to bring my experience of the scent to life in words.

I wear the fragrance and note the twists and turns it takes. I research the notes and make sure I have my facts straight on any technical details. I think of my reviews as little "news reports" on the perfumes. I try to pack a lot of info into a quickie bulletin.

  • Hi Katie

Do you think you could do a vid on Noa by Cacharel? It is my favourite fragrance. I'd like to hear your take on it.

    Thanks! You rock!!

  • This is really weird!! EEEK!!!

  • I find that Pleasures by Estee Lauder is also a "you, but better" smell. I have also found that a little goes a long way. But worth the light spritz. The Cavegirl clobbering her mate on the noggin to announce her sexiness is definitely not my M.O.! I don't want to announce my presence when I walk in a room (or a building ;-) ) I would rather it be a sweet surprise when someone is is sniffing (albeit subtle) range. As for your reviews - I enjoy them immensely! Talk it up!

  • Hi ADC - thanks for the boost!

I have to admit, sometimes I get a little "Cavegirl"....

  • Girl, you so funny! heh, heh, heh...

  • Whats ur fave purfume or smell?

  • Fave smells: orange blossoms in April, cookies baking, bonfire on a cold night.

Fave perfumes: Chanel Coromandel (a vanilla/patchouli oriental), Amouage Homage (a rose incense), By Kilian Liaisons Dangereuses (a fruity rose jam & woods)

  • omg this is the one that you told me o get

thanks for like making a reveiw

  • Sure thang!

  • Mmmm! Sounds so nice! Wanna try it on!

  • hahaha loved the

    00:58

hey look at me im all sexyyyyyy an..d.... stuuuuuffffff..

    hahaha

your great , thanks for the good video's and lovely information

  • Thanks so very much!

  • Love your videos Katie, no one does them like you! THANKS

PS. I have been searching for the glow.

    Thanks again!

  • For some reason unknown to myself, whenever a fragrance warms on my skin it turns really sweet/flowery/sugary even if it doesn't in the bottle or on other people. Thus, if it is a sweet scent to begin with, after it sits on me for a few minutes it smells so sugary and sweet it's sickening! Can you recommend any fragrances that would not turn high-fructose-corn-syrup-sweet on my skin?

  • Ive heard tell that whether skin is alkaline or acidic can affect how a fragrance smells. But theres also the possibility that being surrounded in a cloud of marshmallow for prolonged periods is not your bag.

The bad news for you is that were living through an era of intensely sugary fragrances.

The good news is that when you find your perfect non-candy scent, youll know that youll truly smell like no other in a crowd.

  • A good tactic is to avoid fragrances with vanilla, which can provide stealth sweetness long after all other notes have disappeared.

Have a sniff around a selection of fresh and/or woody fragrances. Even florals can work for the sweet-averse, if their fruity side is played up, or if theyre paired with a woody accord.

  • You didnt indicate the style or volume that you prefer your fragrances, but these will get you going:

    Fresh and/or fruity choices:

    Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte

    Hermès Un Jardin en Méditerranée

    Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

    Christian Dior Eau Sauvage

    Gap The Natural

    Miller Harris Tangerine Vert

    Nanadebary Green

  • Woody floral choices: Hermès Kelly Calèche Prada Infusion d'Iris Eau dItalie Paestrum Rose Keiko Mecheri Oliban Lostmarch Iroaz Miller Harris Fleur de Bois Woody choices: Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac Hermès Terre d'Hermès Clinique Aromatics Elixir Gap The Lover
  • Thank you so much for your advice. I like the fresh, woody, and occasionally spicy scents best. I'll be sure to try your suggestions!

    Have a fragrant day!

  • By the way, I think the hearsay about the pH of skin making perfumes smell different is true, because I am very acidic and have that sugary/flower smell.

    Maybe alkaline skin smells woody/fresh?

  • This is an area I must learn more about. How do you determine whether your skin is alkaline or acidic?

  • One lady I knew who had very acidic skin could tell because any metal surface that she regularly touched (doorknobs, jewelry, etc.) got the surface metal rubbed off after only a few months; her husband was always going around behind her with brass polish!

For me it was mostly conjecture. I have had GERD all my life and require a low acid diet and medication to keep from getting ulcers. Also, I often get little ulcers in my mouth caused by acid.

  • Since the inside of my body is acidic, it seemed safe to assume that the outside was acidic as well. Also, a major ingredient of candy is citric acid which gives the sweet-tart flavor and smell.

  • As for alkaline, I have no clue. Now I am off to do some research for some cold hard evidence, to confirm or deny my theories.

  • All very interesting! Thanks for sharing this info. Please report back with your scientific findings!

  • Hi :) Could you maybe do a review on one of escadas perfumes? :) x

  • Sounds nice...great video as always =)

  • btw, i love that you keep it short. :) there are so many ppl on youtube who go and on and say hardly anything.

  • Agreed. I like to keep it fun and zippy.

  • You know you're really beautiful and have a great, sultry voice right?

  • that was fun .)

could you do a review on Givenchy - Very Irresistible and Givenchy - Very Irresistible Sensual and compare them? thanx :)

  • sounds great!

  • sounds yummy :0)

    xxxJoolsxxx

  • I love the style of your videos! Very witty and even comical, but you get the real truth about the scent out there. I would really like to hear your thoughts on Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel!

  • Thanks! I've got a Coco Mlle review coming up...

  • Thanks, all, for your enthusiastic comments! It gives me the will to sniff another day!

    Katie

    x

  • Sounds nice.

You mentioned in the review that this fragrance is "lowball," which makes me wonder, has there ever been a really inexpensive scent that you've discovered and thought, "Hey, this isn't bad?"

  • That's this one! The Lover is "lowball" cuz it's really cheap (as opposed to Serge Lutens Daim Blond, which I compare it to). And I really like the whole Gap range of "The Individuals", except for The Visionary, which smells like wee-wee to me!

  • What do you think of "the artist" from this gap fragrances range?

  • The Artist is a nice, cozy musk, a little on the sweet side. It's not as innovative as The Lover or The Individual, but it's well-done for a cheaper fragrance.

  • review armani code ( :

  • Great review as always, thank you!

  • oooooh i'm getting sum me like

  • hmm....i'll think about it. Good review. ^^

  • Thanks for the review - now if we could only get YouTube smellavision. How great would that be. :)

  • MUST try this one... sounds FABULOUS!!! what a smashing review ^.^

  • Katie, as alway u are so funny!!!!

  • LOOOOOOOVE your vids, there so well put together

  • do you own all these perfumes?

  • I just did a quick count...I own full bottles of about a quarter of the fragrances I've reviewed here (those are the ones that are my personal favorites), and the rest I have in decants and sample sizes. And I have an exciting "perfume suitcase" of decants and samples I haven't had a chance to review yet!

  • Lovely review :D .. ^^

  • Love your reviews hun, keep up the good work! T x

  • i love ur review! awsome

  • mmmmm,,not sure about this one,, you really do good reviews Thank you ,,

  • When you describe the perfume and you are moving your hands. It looks like you are doing a wrestling move.

  • Ha-ha! Half-nelson!

  • AMAZING REVIEW~~~~~~~~

  • wow i love your reviews< i am super picky about my colognes. I am a guy and i hate that typical MAN smell, i like my smell to be more fresh, light, but still a little manly. Any suggestions? I love the smell of Elixer blue

  • you should review fuel for life by diesel

  • That one's on my "to do" list. Do you mean the men's or women's one?

  • both would be nice but i'm interested in the women's one.

  • lol "and I SMELL!..." dun dun dun! lol

  • Makes me want to give it a go. I can see "suede", feel "suede" but not sure how it smells.I, for the most part, love ANYTHING with Patchouli in it even though I am not too fond of the fruits. I am enjoying Jo Malone's Pomgranite and like "Arche's" Grapefruit....so Apricot might be OK since the "sweet" is mellowed with the Insense.

  • I should stress that the apricot in The Lover comes off as a fruit note rather than a sweetie-sweet note. And it's very mellow.

  • I so want that perfume!

  • yayy lovely =]

  • you are too cute. thanks for the review

  • awesome review...

fruity huh? i'll have to think about it....

  • i wish you could write my inner monologue

  • great review thanks

  • This sounds enticing. On the list. Thanks Katie!

  • THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW =)

  • you are soooo great. Love your videos.

  • i <33 how she talks

  • lol. Your videos always make my day.

  • This was really interesting! Do you think you can do a review of Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea (I believe that's the name) perfume?

  • nice review - how is this for lasting power?

  • The Lover is amazing for lasting power, especially for a scent that isn't "loud". It lasts all day long.

  • that sound interesting

  • I love your reviews..you're amazing!

  • you describe the scent so well and i love your cheeky manner

  • Absolutely love your videos!!!

  • i LOVE how you describe things! amazing video! :D

  • i know right! Shes so clever when it comes to describing them and i love how she has a sense of humor!

  • i love it! "give it a few minutes to slip into something more comfortable", that's genius!

  • I love these reviews they really help me know before I buy a scent if its a good smelling perfum

  • i like ur smell

  • I love your reviews they are always so fun and informative.

  • Ooooh! This sounds wonderful! Need to try! Have you smelled Closer by Gap? I hear they re-launched it, and wonder if it's the same as before.

Love your reviews, and always look forward to them!

  • Thanks! I've been meaning to sniff my way over to Closer. Thanks for reminding me....
