  • horrible quality. and after his first game i'm sure we can all see he's not on the level of herron yet. big dude yes, but doesn't run as big as herron does.

  • I looked forever for the name of the song in this video so i finally found it. The name of the song is

    Beef by Dil

  • whats this song called

  • @L8dyCrunk07 Beef by Dil

  • What is this song called!!!

  • 2011 class recuits take a look at this kid from Chicago,Il Hubbard High School .His name is Cortney Lewis.Simply type in Cortney Lewis

  • You Guys Should check out this fullback from Indiana Name Jordan Segner #32

  • whats this song called

  • @jjonesl23233

Yeah, but you're stupid so what do you know?

  • we will see. a lot of people are expecting a big time haul in next years recruiting. we lose a lot

  • @ohio4president dandrea was unreal until he got hurt two years in a row. Eugene clifford was sick except for the fact that he was thug from colerain. And bryant browning is one of the worst o lineman to come through block o. Also Ohio's instate talent for the '11 class is loaded so hopefully tressel can bring in braxton miller and the other ohio 5 stars

  • @jjonesl23233 weve had a top 3 class the last two years. We lost only 3 starters basically. The reason for the down year in recruiting is nobody (other than seantrel probably) would have come in with a solid chance to play right away. Florida lost their whole team to departures thus they have a great year

  • We won't even see this kid for 2 years. He's gonna sit behind herron and saine, and then berry and hall...

  • no he won't he will get some snaps as a freshman.

  • he should.... he's almost definitely better than herron already.

but really as long as herron gets bumped down the depth chart, and saine moves into a clear #1 spot, I wont mind as much if smith doesnt see the field as much.

  • @jjonesl23233 james l. malcolm jenkins, aj hawk, mike nugent. dane sanz. bryant browning. chimidi chekiwa, brian hartline. brian robiskie anderson russel. donald washington. austin spitler. aj trapasso. and jay richardson were all 3 stars or below.

Thank god we got those amazing 4 and 5 stars such as Mo Wells Mike Dandrea, Ira Guilford, Lous Irizarry, Albert Dukes, Chad Hoobler, Rob Schoenoft, Ryan Williams, Rob Rose, Eugene Clifford and Lamaar Thomas

  • @ohio4president

Mo Wells? He's not 4 or 5 star. He's about 1 star. Chimidi Chekiwa is awsome, his only problem is pass interference, and mike nugent was the truth. You're a tard.

  • Doesn't matter. OSU has a young team and they will be able to do well for the next two years with the team they have right now and will be able to replace the team in the next two years.

  • Welcome to The Ohio State University

  • What he said

  • Hawk was a two star. Not a three star.

Adams couldn't beat out Jimmy Cordle at left tackle....That says it all. Cordle was an average center and an awful OT....Got pulled from many games due to his inability to block anyone. Especially in passing situations.

I'm not bad mouthing Smith. Where did I say he was not a good player or doesn't deserve to be a Buckeye. I'm just stating facts about his size, speed, etc..

I'm also a huge Buckeye fan..Do you know the old saying about making assumptions?

  • TP has 4.4 or sub 4.4 speed. Do you have any idea of what you are talking about at any time? Every comment you've made is either ignorant or borders on stupidity. The difference between TP's 4.4 speed or better, and Smith's 4.84 speed is huge!

  • 5 stars mean nothing.

Connor smith was a 5 star. Alex Boone was a five star.

5 star Adams has been a huge disappointment.

Meanwhile, guys like Mangold, a three star recruit is the best center in the NFL today.

    It's all about performance

  • I don;t think so...Go to either of the large scouting services. They each have him listed as the same height and weight.

    6'2" and 215 lbs.

Surpsrising speed? He runs a 4.84 40. That is not surprising by any standard

  • the future is here!

  • Whats This Song Called

  • he looks like a young Eddie George! I agree, we are loaded at rb, but I think he will get a good amount of carries as a soph. We are still egtting Carlos Hyde, he is listed on the recruiting pages for this year. Out of all these young guys, im sure we have a Heisman like rb in the mix!

  • I agree! George was 6-3, 235 Smith 6-3 220 and should bulk up nicely.

    GO BUCKEYES!

  • What This Song Called. ? its Raw.. ima put this on my highlight

  • who sings this song?

  • While Rod Smith is one of the better Rb recruits in the country, let's not forget the level of talent we are seeing him matched up against in this film. He played his ball in Football poor Indiana.

At 6'2" and 215 he looks like the biggest player on the field in some of these clips.

He's not going up against the Mckinley's, Massillon's and Colerain's of the High school football world.

  • He is actually in a pretty good conference though for Indiana. Snider, Bishop Dwenger (has had 2 or 3 Notre Dame recruits in the last couple of years) are both powerhouses. It's a multi class conference too so he is playing 5A schools sometimes. This conference has had 4 teams in the state finals at once before....it's not Massillon or McKinley...but it's not as bad as you think.

  • @gridlock27

    Thanks for the info Grid.

  • @TheOldcrow1945

While I do think the competition level argument does have some validity lets not forget though that Beanie Wells didn't play against a very high level of competition in HS.

  • @PHXdesertBuck

Very true. the city league can be weak.

But regardless of compitition levels, it is unfair to the Smith kid to some how make him out to be the next Wells.

Wells was special. The #1 RB coming out of high school and by some people, the #1 recruit in the nation.

Smith, while obviously talented, is not Beanie Wells.

One of the things that worries me about Smith is his 40 time. But then again, Wells wasn't a "Blazer" either.

  • wow... lookin forward to '11 so we can see him in the backfield with a (hopefully) mature pryor

  • @ds547803

If Berry stays in the good graces of the university and JT, we'll be seeing him sooner and more often than Rod Smith.

  • Wow, this kid's legit

  • The kid is the next Beanie WELLS

  • both big and physical runners, but I dont think they are the same.... beanie wasnt as natural of a runner, but he could seriously truck people and give a mean stiffarm. he would just out-physical people

I think this guy is a more natural and fluid runner. still strong, and can break tackles, but he reminds me more of young adrian peterson

  • @toomanyscreennames

I suggest you go back and look at Beanie's high school scouting reports.

He was exceptionally fluid and it's one of the reasons why he was the nation's #1 RB coming out of Akron.

His ability to stop and change direction and spin out of tackles was something special...Both in High school and then in College.

I imagine there is film still available here on youtube from Beanie's High school days. I suggest you take a look.

  • beanie used to run like forest gump in high school. I remember seeing his videos. he had crisp cuts, and his agility in close space was good. he did not have a fluid gait though

  • @toomanyscreennames

If you are speaking strictly of his "Gait" then I am not going to argue who's stride is more beautiful.

I was commenting on your statement in which you claimed Wells was merely a back who would out physical players.

That is simply not true. He was very good at changing direction and spinning away from hits. His open field gait may have not looked as fluid, but fluid he was.

He would not have been a #1 recruit as well as #1 draft pick if not.

  • @toomanyscreennames

You should go to the NFL's very own combine website and read the Analysis of Wells....It's an extensive analysis but the first line says it all...."Extraordinary combination of size and NATURAL running ability".

I think these scouts that write for the NFL's combine page agrees with me...The guy is not only a fluid runner, but a natural one as well.

  • the gait came into play after contact though. a lot of times he wasnt able to keep his stride after delivering a hit, he'd lose his balance and stagger for 5 more yards before falling. wells had to basically re-learn how to run at OSU

he was a top recruit for his ball carrying ability, not his RUNNING ability. if he ran in HS like he runs now, he would've been the best recruit to ever play HS ball in any state

  • this guy looks like a monster

but really, I just watch this video for the song. anyone know the title or artist?

  • Boo Ohio State

  • we held him to 56 yards rushing on 25 carries. boo ya!

  • You know if it was dry Harding would have won. That's why they played their best in the 1st quarter when it wasn't as wet.

  • they did play well, but that onside kick was a real momentum shifter for us.

  • They lose to PSU next week haha

  • Really?

  • he is playing us tonight at eastbrook. it shall be interesting

  • wow i thought terrele Pryor was bad til i saw this kid haha he is even worse. lol jk but i am a michigan fan and i am kind of worried beucz seeing how u guys got pryor and he is terrible now michigan has devin gardner who is the same maybe a little better than pryor but i hope he doesnt go down the same road as pryor its very unlikely cuz bucks offense isnt ment for pryor and michigan runs an option spread

Pryor Has Swine Flu! GO BLUE!

  • Suck my cockeye!

  • pryor's a sophmore... not everyone comes in and dominates as a freshman, especially kids who didnt play in refined HS offenses.... his job in HS was basically to use his physical gifts to dominate. the transition of pryorfrom HS to college is like what VY is going through from NCAA to NFL. VY also struggled his first few years in college too. its not too late for pryor to figure things out

  • 6 straight...

  • What's the name of this song?

  • mohabbot

  • he wont start till junior season red shirt him next year and save him. we already got saine, heron, hall, and berry

  • herron sucks balls. seriously. he must suck tressels testicles nicely if he keeps his name in the starting role mix over saine, who is clearly better. this guy and saine together would be nasty. pryor needs to dislodge his head from his rectum though

  • Your forgetting about Jordan Hall and Berry, he might have a year or two wait.

  • dan herron and brandon saine are just keeping the running back postion warm for roderick smith , once he get's there next season he'll win the job by the spring game, next season is when the buckeyes

will make a serious run for the national championship, we lost all our skill position play makers on both sides of the ball, we have a lot of fresman and sophmores starting and getting game experience, just be patient buckeye nation 2010 is our year, we'll beat miami

and put the world on notice

  • I agree and disagree. Smith will most likely not win the starting job after the entire 2010 season. Herron and Saine were just as impressive in highschool & they will bring back college experience. And our defense has just as much skill as last years unit with more speed. They just lack the amount of experience as last years boys. However, I think we win out the rest of this season, beat USC in a re-re-match in the Rose Bowl, and will have an undefeated season next year.

    GO BUCKS!!!

  • you make a valid point...so let's agree to disagree on if and when smith will start at tail back, but i hope your right about the bucks getting revenge against USC in

the rose bowl, that would be a lovely way to put a end to their season...and just for the record we'll make barkley, Mc Knight and the rest of that SC offense feel the rath of the Silver Bullet...

    DOT THE "I" BABY!!!!!

  • Oh they already felt the wrath.... they supposedly had "the best O-line in the country" but they looked way to average. We should've ran the spread against them our team speed is ridiculously fast. We'll get another defensive shut out at Indiana. O-H

  • plays for ohio state now

  • what song is this?

  • frazzle23 what are you talking about beanie got run down from behind??? Beanie had great speed for a big back. what killed me was that he was always hurt. hell he got hurt at his 1st practice in az. this smith kid looks nice!

  • beanie got run down from behind often in HS because he didnt know how to run properly

  • I beg to differ I havnt seen any film that has showed him have a break away run and get caught from behind. Maybe a guy that had a good angle...

  • no seriously, he ran like forrest gump in HS, like he was almost leaning backwards. he had zero top end speed, he was all acceleration. his top end was something he developed while working with OSU speed coaches

  • If he didn't know how to run properly, why was he considered the number 1 RB in all of highschool?

  • Yes Yes Yes... We have our next beanie wells. Look at beanie's old highlights and compare this kid has it. welcome to the Ohio State. Go Bucks!

  • now we need a qb of the future other than Taylor Graham

  • Braxton Miller

  • Who's that?

  • This video desperately needs a high quality version. Good highlights though.

  • Look at him pulling away from the pack on those longs runs. Nice to see a big running back do that...rare. GO BUCKS!!!!

  • Yeah. Regardless of how good beanie was good, the one thing that pissed me off was his inability to get away from the secondary. He got run down so often

  • He wasnt slow when he wasnt hurt..problem was he was rarely 100%. He ran a 4.34 electronic forty at his osu proday with an average of 4.39

  • O-STATE!!!!
