What a bunch of jackasses. There are "bike" clubs in our area that like to ride in masses through residential neighborhoods. They have no regard for their own safety nor the safety of others. They blatantly ride through stop signs and seem to feel that they have the right-of-way at all times. They snarl traffic, seemingly on pourpose. Not sure where your from, but here in Missouri (pretty sure anywhere in the US) it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk. Basically, you are bound to the same laws as an automobile. You can't drive on the sidewalk, so you can't ride on the sidewalk, and for good reason. The sidewalk is for pedestrians only, cyclists like myself easily get up to 15-20mph on average, which can result in fatal injuries if there's a collision with a pedestrian.
I just respect pedestrians as I expect motorists to respect me, just as I respect cyclists when I am driving my car, and just as I expect to be respected when I am a pedestrian.

Thats why I carry a digital video camera every time I go on a Critical Mass ride because jerks like the guy that drives the Acura that doesnt like people riding bicycles have to come too close to them. Ill record jerks like the guy in the Acura and will get a camera in their face!!!! If the cops have the balls to do something about it then they need to by if they see this video.
I've participated in a few critical masses in my city but i rarely see people without helmets, lights, or blowing stop signs/lights. This isn't to say that it doesn't happen but not all critical mass riders are complete idiots.
In Budapest CM involves a lot more people but we never have any accidents like this. This isn't the first US video I see about cyclist run over by cars . Maybe opposed to the car culture of the USA cyclists are more respected in Europe. As a cyclist I feel that motorists and bike commuters get along more or less...

Not sure where your from, but here in Missouri (pretty sure anywhere in the US) it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk. Basically, you are bound to the same laws as an automobile. You can't drive on the sidewalk, so you can't ride on the sidewalk, and for good reason. The sidewalk is for pedestrians only, cyclists like myself easily get up to 15-20mph on average, which can result in fatal injuries if there's a collision with a pedestrian.

I've participated in a few critical masses in my city but i rarely see people without helmets, lights, or blowing stop signs/lights. This isn't to say that it doesn't happen but not all critical mass riders are complete idiots.

In Budapest CM involves a lot more people but we never have any accidents like this. This isn't the first US video I see about cyclist run over by cars . Maybe opposed to the car culture of the USA cyclists are more respected in Europe. As a cyclist I feel that motorists and bike commuters get along more or less...

If you want to ride on the road with your bikes, pay for it. Motorists earn the right to use the roads through registration taxes, fuel taxes, license taxes, etc... Not only do most cyclists ignore traffic rules themselves, they take unnecessary chances. CM=whinny lowlifes with a chip on their shoulder taking out frustrations on productive members of society.

driving is a"privilege" not a right - In the state of fl. a person operating a bicycle on a roadway is considered a vehicle and has the exact same rights to be on said roadway as a person operating a motorized vehicle

@elchupa72 - 3rd- by state law a person operating a bicycle on the roadway has the same rights on the road as a person opertaing a motorized vehicle and must obey all traffic devices, ride with the flow of traffic and stay "as far to the right hand side of the lane as safety permits" - yes the critical mass group does break the law and is done so on purpose as it is a form of protest, I do not agree with there actionson this matter and just like not all drivers are bad, not all cyclists are bad

@mournthedivine 2nd - In the state of fl. all road maintenance/expenses are paid for by all residents of the state who pay taxes on all goods- not just motorized vehicle taxes not just "registration taxes,fuel taxes,vehicle license taxes,etc,etc....." a small percentage of all taxes on all goods bought is used for said road and highway expenses which include maintenance and construction of - So I paid taxes on my bicycles which menas I helped pay for those roads 2

Ok "Critical Ass " go ahead and block intersections, cut motorists off, and cause a lot of problems. Just keep one though in mind... the next day, when good old lone biker is spotted, I pull in front of him/her, wait for the inevitable tailgate and then SLAM on the breaks, claiming someone else also cut me off! Or if the biker starts to pull up to me inside my lane, YEP, I change lanes and plaster the sucker! Your starting a fight you ultimately can't win.

Bicycle riders and these CM things have to understand that they have to follow the traffic laws aswell. You can't stay in the middle of the road and hold up traffic. In my state if you are on a bike or moped than you must be to the right of the road to not hold up traffic. Then they accuse they guy for hitting their friend who probably wasn't signaling turns or stops and holding up traffic.
