my son had a monitor on his head to check the blood flow. this was to see how much oxygen he was getting. i also had a ventouse delivery which is what that woman had. although the ventouse damaged his scalp, the monitor did no harm.
it's an internal fetal monitor, it monitors the baby's heart rate and a few other vital things with a small little metal spiral. it doesn't hurt the baby. :)
