Did you notice that the first Presidental Debate between Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain that Senator John McCain never looked at Senator Barack Obame during the Presidental Debate? My grandfather was treated so well by the VA for a very long time before he passed on to a better place two years ago. Our veterans are heroes, and all of them deserve the same care grandpa got. An Obama administration will give our service women and men the care they deserve when they come home.

I truly hope that this election is not about "pesonalities". For me, it has always been about issues. Unfortunately, some in this country still have some discomfort with the idea with a person of color in the White House. But even if it is about "personalities", what does it mean when a POW who makes it to the Senate does not champion the cause of our veterans? This says a LOT to me about John McCain's "personality". Iraq is obviously primarily an opportunistic exploitation of American concern about terrorism to divert American effort from the terrorists in Afghanistan & Pakistan to grab access to oil for the rich in Iraq using lying and phony pretexts. It really is important to take care of the men and women who served their country. We hear about the casualties, but the injured physically and mentally often slip through the cracks. We have one former soldier who couldn't even get on the police force in his home town when he returned. They wanted to know if he was a bit "crazy" when he got back. His references said yes, but he's worked through it. They lived things we can only imagine.

An extra thing you can do for the veterans of the Iraq war is remind them of their achievements.

More important than caring for our troops during the war (providing the right equipment and the amount of troops needed to complete the object successfully) and caring for them when the come home is not sending them into an unjust war with no clear objectives to be successful and no real exit strategy. We need a commander in chief that will leave military action as a last resort and think of the American people first instead of bending to the will of corporate greed and corruption.
