  • 4:34 - Mike did his old trick back in SF2 ! Aww man love that

  • yea.... mike watson needed to retire... lol.

  • For those discrediting the Americans for their play in Japan in 2000, I'm pretty sure this was the tournament that was the American's first big experience playing on Japanese sticks. When Daigo had come to America in 98, they had an American set up for Valle and a Japanese stick for daigo. If this same USA vs Japan happened in American with only American sticks, the result quite easily may have been different. Again keeping in mind that American sticks were big back in 2000 in US, not Japanese.

  • Tomo would of got raped as well. All of USA's best got raped, period.

  • @reversetriangle You're absolutely correct. Tomo and Mike watson went 60-40 so we can say that Tomo may be slightly better but it allows us to guage tomos overall skill level. These guys were good back in the HF days but noone is better than the best of japan. If you wanna see a prime watson search mike watson vs jesse howard. the game is laughable. now compare that to muteki and kurahashi and tell me who is better. Sadly its mike continuing to play that exposes the tomo golden era myth

  • Haha love the start of the second fight vs M.Bison where ryu is actually punching/kicking in time with the music. He has do be doing that by purpose 1.26-1.28

  • so basically the point of this video is to say that USA sucks or that Mike sucks, either way, its insulting to American. but then again, its hard to beat the creator of the games.

  • @jimmy8c7

It's obvious to anyone except a dumbass like yourself that Mike has good skills at the game. The fact that Watson lost does neither indicate that he sucks or USA sucks. It's only that his Japanese opponents had better skill or just played better in this case. Losing a game and sucking are not the same thing. Except maybe in your case. You probably are a loser and you do suck since you can't even tell the difference between the two.

  • Wow, the level of play is so much higher now. Not to say these guys aren't good, but today the game has changed so much.

  • Mike's timing is off here, a lot of the throws against him was mis-timing.

  • Great play by Aniken as Ken! Great combo by YuuVega at the end of round 3! Watson should have won that match! Great patience by Kurahashi! Watson was a bit better than Valle in SF2 from the matches I've seen them play vs each other, but Valle played better in USA vs Japan probably because he chose O. Sagat. Maybe Watson should of chose Balrog instead of Ryu! Watson's Ryu is decent, not special like Daigo and Balrog can counter a lot of characters well, such as Bison, Sagat, Ryu, Ken, etc.

  • Aniken is fuckin agressive

  • lol, you judge this from one video? It's lightyears better than GigaMSX's. Giga is good, very good, don't get me wrong, but YuuVega is the best Dic probz in the world.

  • but you'd figured if he's that good, he should at least have shown the skills in the video. I've watched all of Gig's videos and he showed them well.. I mean, maybe Yuu is good....better. I don't know. I gotta search for more videos..

  • Damn, this guy got his ass WHOOPED!!

  • I haven't seen Aniken lose once... He's a beast with Ken

  • Im really liking Anikens Ken, he's a relentless bastard !

  • Ya but Aniken doesn't know what defending is. He just uppercuts all day. He's all attacking and no defending.

  • Really ? Im surprised, bit of a disapointment !

They probably pick their style and stick to it. You have to know how to mix it up !

  • Well in some battles hes all attacking and no def. Like when he vs's Diago , Aniken gets nailed by him because he never defends. Anyways, overall he's an amazing player

  • Ah going on the straight offence against Daigo is a big mistake ! Again, you have to mix it up, especially against Daigo, because i noticed that sometimes he gets comfortable in his set-ups and if you manage to get in, it can throw him off and he reacts badly, which happens to alot of players. But i noticed that if Daigo loses its usually because of that. He'll throw out a random dp that is miles from anywhere and that loses him the round.

  • I experience'd that before and it's a real piss off. One mistake can just cause the entire game for you ... And Diago is just a beast when he's in his comfortable zone but then again, who isn't ? You should see Diago Vsing a guy who choses Sagat all the time. I forgot the match but I could find it for you if you want? Diago loses his cool a lot but it's fun to watch

  • Yea that should be entertaining !

I was just watching John Choi's Ryu vs Daigos, that was very cool !

  • with an awsome agresive play you dont need no defense my friend.. that man can pressure u like sick

  • And you would know this because you've seen videos about it? I get people like you all the time telling me this and that when all you've seen is videos. I want to call everyone who "tried" to give me advice about something an idiot, but the list is to long

  • i just got finished reading your book .. "everything i know about 2d fighters, i learned from halo"

  • Those Guile air throws after the the missed dragon punches are amazing. Kurahashi's timing is immaculate!

  • SSFT Sonic Boom sounds gay. They shoulda made it sound a little like "honik boo" in the olden days.

  • Watson got owned nasty stylee...

  • Nice finisher by vega at 2,56

  • fun to watch, good matches, albeit old ones

  • wow... that guile did a backbreaker air slam on ryu's light shoryuken twice... that's simply amazing!!!

  • That's fast fuckin reflexes.

  • Me and Mike spent almost 2 years playing each other in Monterey Park almost every other day. I can only chuckle when I saw this video because a move he uses 3 times in the first 2 matches he directly picked off me (and he'll be the first to tell you so)= 1. cross jump 2. standing jab 3. throw (or alternately a low fwd/fireball/uppercut). How ya doing Mike? Tim Cheng. ps. a little secret on Mikes' success= he peeks at your right hand during the game! (usually to see if you will throw). ;)

  • so THAT is why he thinks FFA players only do well on head to head!!!!!!!!!!! mystery revealed!!

  • Thats what bitchs do,,, no offence -_-

  • lol how is that not offensive?

  • wow at 3:58 through 4:05 great vid.

  • I've played Mike Watson on Alpha 2. He's a monster.

  • Lol at sowuifmahshsux. LOL. Good stuff.

  • Watson was pissed later that he didn't choose Balrog instead.

  • Watson did very good. I'm very impressed at his ST style.

  • I love Kurahashi's Guile :D

nevertheless Watson played well against ShootingD who is considered #1 Ryu player in Japan.

btw: do you also have Valle's part?

  • Honestly, to anyone he says Watson sucks or that their better, lets see how well you would do in a match against those japanese players? OR better yet, how well you would do against Watson.

  • @CCCPSoviet1917 Mike Watson sucks

  • i'm pretty sure this isn't alex valle. at that event, out of the 5 he battled, i think he only lost 1 match.

  • Forgive me, it was Mike Watson. Valle used O.Sagat.

  • @st1kupk1d He lost 2

  • @st1kupk1d My mistake he actually lost 3

  • Woah, I thought these players were recent. They're still playing ST!
