Tony grey seems to be mad on David Fiuczynsky after his solo 5:18. I would be... i don't like his attitude at all because he's like quite selfish and self indulgent. It's okay for people to clap and dance but he turned into a star he's not called to be
@sebassabes84 I've heard a few other live versions, and I see there isn't much improvisation, excluding the solos. I think they all knew the solo's gonna be that long.
i feel like the guitarist is taking advantage of great equipment, and more importantly, great musicians......sorry. maybe that's what the whole band wanted...........but....he is not contributing to the amount of life hiromi and tony and the drummer put into this stuff........that's just not fair.
I agree, i know he can play but i dont like his over use of wah and bending. I know its his personal choice of style but it just doesnt sit well with me
what are you getting or winning something from this medieval wrong notes hunt?? huh?? Just enjoy this amazing music and don´t be a bunch of frustrated freaky stupids!! OF course there is wrong notes...but here it is absolutly lacking of importance in the half of such amazing exhibition of feel, energy and jazz attitude. ENJOY THE MUSIC...ENJOY THE MUSIC and LET PPL BE HAPPY!!!!
There are some very strange things going on with the audio in this video. The snare in a few places, 2:30 for example, fucked up compression? At 4:43 the overall sound completely changes! Sounds like a numb nuts sound guy fucking with levels throughout. Real shame, what a performance!
Interesting video. That guy is definitely talented, but he doesn't quite have the knack for knowing just how when to place those loud sections to truly sound amazing.
depends, playin a major third above a minor third in a blues song repeatedly to cover a soloist would be a rediculous idea. its still a "wrong" chord unless (miraculously in this case) placed in the right place, then its obviously gunna sound nice because its played "right" - this is because my definition of wrong in music is something that sounds or feels bad and unpleasant to an ordinary audience that appreciates that genre
hence its possible to play wrong notes in jazz, or am i a fool
A wrong note is an unintentionally played one. You are mostly right, but "wrong" notes are only wrong if not conveyed intentionally. Just because it's dissonant or not within the chord/scale structure, doesn't make it incorrect.
technically all notes are in the chord...the genius is when it is used properly (or intentionally). in jazz a lot of extended chords are used (7th, 11th, 13th). and more stuff like raised fourths, flat fifths, raised fifths, flat sevenths, etc...so technically every note can be in the chord. however you have to know when to use it..
Jazz is all about tensions, side stepping for examples. Notes that are "wrong" if placed rhythmically and resolved in the right manner aren't really "wrong" at all.
In Jazz, a wrong note is just a right note a half step away, right?
If I may say so....I feel that Jazz is made up of mistakes and mistakes are how we as Jazz musicians learn and grow and sometimes how amazing songs are written
The guitar's sound is a little quiet and muted really. I like this interpretation even then. :) Lots of humour. I can see that Martin really adds a lot to the quartet too.
I always love Hiromi's solos at the end of Time Out. :D She's wondrous.
Yeah, which is why I said that I can now see Martin adds a lot to the quartet. The drumming isn't as good in this video and it really affects the song. Before watching this I was kind of oblivious to how much of an effect he had on Hiromi's music!
Umm, I was never pointing fingers anywhere, all I was doing was appreciating the performance. I understood I was vague in my sentence when I read it back again, so I clarified myself after you asked.
