isnt that wierd how society is so adapted to labeling personalities
the way society labels smart people is them listening to classical music, being beat up,wearing not up to date clothes etc.
i think this guy made the decision to be the smart guy. im sure he'll soon realize that being socially related to people is a very important part of a healthy life.
To be wise..Anybody can be wiser. He is 'wierd', so what, he's not a bad person! Perfect view of life. I'm lucky to know alot of wisdom too.People should seek wisdom for a better life. I'm lucky to understand and love 'love'. Many don't know, so the world looks bad. It's about understanding and to simply try to be as happy as you can after something horrible have happend. It's so simpel, and i'm 'normal'. I do not understand people that do not understand!
this person just doesn't have people skill like the lady said he just doesn't have good communication to other ppl. well i think that calling him names and other stuff is just mean and nasty so sumtimes i wonder y ppl come to a country where ppl call u names and make fun of u for being diffrent.... fell free to argue wit my comment.. America isnt that great and that my opinion. ^_^
Excellent job on the interview and editing. I thought this was a professional job until I read the description.
I've known kids like that throughout my life, and they always seem weird to some in school, but they almost invariably grow up to be very successful adults.
I think you definitely have potential as a documentary filmmaker. I'd have enjoyed some more insight into the kid's every day life, though. What sort of stuff does he do outside of school? You should have tried going places with him and filming that.
We go to the same college. He saw me as someone he could talk to when I tried to avoid him. I would have to leave the room everyday because of that stress. Worse, we just happen to have the same first name and same initials and it made it worse in that class. I'm not a violent person, in fact I'm Buddhist. I wanted to severely harm him and EVERYONE prayed that I would. Even today I see him and pray that he not talk. He says hello and calls me Kevin, after Kevin Klein the actor. I despise him.
Excellent! We can learn a lot from people with Asperger's. As Temple Grandin said, they're like an anthropologist on Mars, but every so often they give us insight.
I'd love to see more interviews with "Andrew" but in a more structured setting, or perhaps it wouldn't work as well this way but rather just to let him "riff" off topics.
He needs a stronger sense of JUSTICE so he will fight for himself. You dont just "remove" someones grill with a bowie knife if you were "meaner and more aggressive".
You dont allow someone to break your arm and not press charges because "maybe I'm too chatty" "some people find me annoying". Maybe if he had siblings he would understand the concept of justice a little better (or more testosterone- he looks prepubescent).
there are at least a few of these kinds of kids at my school, they would be very successful and popular if only they had some social skills, there is nothing wrong with him, he just never learned how to communicate well. and because of the little quirks that these people have they are often openly hated and ridiculed
He's not really a profound thinker, sure he sheds his insight on things, but the thing is that it's his insight entirely. It's bound to be more indepth and immersive than thinking of society as a whole.
I went to college and then law school. I've talked to many professors. This kid is extremely smart and acts and speaks like many of the professors I've had. Introverted, lacking social skills, huge vocabulary. This kid is a thinker.
This guy is awesome. I especially loved the confused peer commenting, after the speech about bone structure, on Andrew's "talking about nothing"." Science is seen as fools speech, bling is king, and in the end I find myself agreeing that "nobody can drive anymore"
I don't know if he could be a genius. He could be a serial murderer as well (cas it's really thin line between these two IMHO ;oP ), but that interview is interesting for me and well done. I'm not usually patient enough for 9 minutes long net video, but these were well spent. Or it just hit my todays mood ;o)
This is a very interesting video... and kudos to him for willing to go on camera... and to the videographer for posting. I'd like to find out his reaction to the popularity this video is generating... and his reactions in regards to the Digg troll asshats and their lame put-down comments.

It's called high functioning autism...or aspergers syndrome. Some have suggested that Bill Gates has Aspergers. They can be very very intelligent but have difficulty with social skills. A lot of the things that we learn intuitively about social behavior has to be learned in steps and with explaination. Cool kid.
it infuriates me that this guy cannot couple his intelligence with a moderate degree of social awareness, he'd be alot more successful with people (for instance his tormentor) if he simply applied his natural affinity for understanding to the subject of social inclusion
Wow... this kid is really interesting. He has some good advice. "Sing daily", my favorite. I hope he does well. He seems odd, but I can tell he's a sweet heart.
please do more interviews..i can relate to this guy. ask more of his opinions....i understand when the girl commented that he's book smart but not a people person...i too am like that simply because at a young age i immersed myself in books and became detached from the people around me. PLEASE do more interviews he's cool in my opinion...ask him to make a youtube account or something...if he like's to talk I'll listen.

Anyone who fails to account for the highest denominator to the existential question fails completely in their equation.
More so, everyone pretending to get "the equation" and present it with more elaborate formula is defeated by the one who presents the shorter formula.
"Strangeness" is the product of a collective abhorence to a particular phenomena observed by a social grouping.
I think that this is a great video. It wasn't made to make fun of this kid 'A.K.', but it really does give a great deal of insight into who he is, and what makes him tick.
He strikes me as being vastly more profound and well thought out than perhaps 99% of the people that I have ever met.

No. No damnit. He's not cool. And Napoleon Dynamite wasn't a good movie. Get it through your heads people. Not caring what you look like and saying random stuff without thinking does NOT make you cool. Hell it doesn't even make you a nerd! It makes you a TARD.
He really didn't say anything profound. Plus, wisdom and intelligence are no excuse for asocial behavior. Some of the wisest and most intelligent people were very sociable. Benjamin Franklin anyone?
You do realize this kid likely has a mild form of autism (at the very least ADD, or both) and so it's not really an "excuse" so much as it is "the way he just is".
He very well may have for autism, ADD, or aspergers, but people are making a big deal out of what he said and he really didn't say anything profound. If he were to have such a disorder, my sympathies go out to him, but that's no reason to hang on his every word.
From the others interviewed in the video it seems like this guy is looked at as odd or an outcast. Which in a way saddens me, he seems very well spoken, and educated, and just an overall intelligent person, and depsite those qualitys people like this do not fit into what is considered the norm. Dosent make the norm look so appealing.
Don't be making fun of him because he will probably become the next bill gates and you will be very sorry. With 46.8 Billion dollars, you can sent a lot of hate mail with the push of a button
that was actually pretty interesting. i had no idea what to expect but that kid isn't really that bad or weird. i mean it could be worse, but he just needs to work on his social skills and apparently listen to the other person instead of talking non-stop. (according to one of the speakers) anyways good stuff.
The sad thing is most would look at this kid as weird, and yes he is a bit different from the norm -but that's not bad. Most wouldn't want to be around him or be his friend, and that is sad. To me this video shows this kid is probably one of the most honest, nicest and ginuine person on the planet. And the words of advise at the end are great and we should all strive to be sucha good person.
There's a kid just like this at my school. He has some sort of social syndrome where he can't really interact well with people, but when you talk to him, wow, he says some amazing things.

that was actually pretty interesting. i had no idea what to expect but that kid isn't really that bad or weird. i mean it could be worse, but he just needs to work on his social skills and apparently listen to the other person instead of talking non-stop.
